First Christmas Card of 2022

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

Happy New Year to everyone. We have had a quiet few days. My back is finally starting to feel much better. So I can now do some gentle crafting, Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post of 2021 my favourite makes.

I was putting away the Christmas cards I was actually inspired to make one of them into a new card. I am trying not to do so much lifting and bending when I craft, that is limiting what I can make to some extent.

Here is the first Christmas card I have made this year. In fact it is first thing I have crafted at all.

I used one of my kraft card blanks. The lace was from my stash as was the pattered craft card and the gold mirror card.

This is the image from the card. I trimmed it down and added a mirror card mat.

When I need to get going again with my crafting I usually start with Christmas cards as simple ones are still effective.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Happy Crafting

Crafts Galore Encore Challenge #85 - Anything Goes - Sponsor Polkadoodles

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? The weather was nice to fit in some walks and a spot of gardening.  It is just possible we will be getting the letters for our vaccinations next week. I really hope so.

Being the first of the month the new challenge starts at the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog. The theme is Anything Goes and the sponsor is the fabulous Polkadoodles

Here is the card I made. The backing paper came from the store as well. It is just so pretty and it set the tone for my colouring. The lace I used was in my stash.

There are so many wonderful images and craft supplies in the Polkadoodles store. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

This image is called Sky's the Limit and it is available HERE.  I  made a blue background on my computer. The image being a PNG laid over the top of the background. I coloured the image with my Faber Castell Polychromo colouring pencils. I do find colouring very relaxing.

I did print the image in two different sizes. I so enjoy colouring that I coloured both. I found a gift bag in my stash that needed decorating so that is what I did.

Here are the two together. I think they make a nice set.

Pretty Roses in a Vase

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? Ours went to plan. It was nice seeing my in-laws on Saturday and the vacuum cleaner was sorted out. Then on Sunday after our online church service we went to Lee-on-Solent. This is about a 20 minute drive from where we live. We had a walk along the beach. You can see the Isle of Wight from there and there were lots of people out sailing. It was so lovely to have a walk somewhere different. When we got back we put the cards I am putting into the sale next weekend  in plastic bags along with envelopes. Tomorrow I will have a go at prices them. When that is done I will be ready for setting up on Friday.

Here is another pretty little card that I made from an old card.

I thought the roses were so pretty. I cut the image down so that it and its mat would fit inside the frame made with a Spellbinders die. The lace was in my stash. The pink patterned paper you can see behind the lace is the back of the main patterned paper that I used. I have a big box of 6" x 6" papers and they are all mixed up I can't remember where they came from.

This is such a pretty image. I was able to make the bottom of the card into a tag.

There you have it another card for the sale.

Pretty Flowers in a Vase

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I went for a walk with a friend yesterday. We had a coffee in Costa and we walked in the rain. We came back to mine and I made us lunch. It was nice seeing her and having a chance to catch up.

I have been struggling to craft but I have been enjoying colouring with my pencils. So in the evening sometimes now I sit and colour some images that I have printed.

I found a backing paper in my stash that went with the colours I had used on the image. The lace was in my stash.

I coloured this image from Conie Fong with my Faber-Castell Polychromos. They are lovely pencils to use.

At the moment I am trying to make a waterfall card for my father-in-laws birthday in September. I will let you know how I get on. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Feminine Floral Birthday card

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How was your weekend? It seems strange to say that when days seem to be much the same. As my hubby works from home our weekends do seem a little different. Not forgetting there are no Barbara Gray doodling classes. There is plenty to do in the garden of course.

I wanted to make a birthday day for my male cousin (all the others are female). I have been having a bit of a tidy up of my craft stuff. I came across a Hunkdory Kit that I hadn't used. I picked out an image with a bike and I decided to use that for my cousin's card.

As you can see the card turned out to be rather feminine.

I did love the floral frame that came with the image and it went so well with the patterned paper I found in my stash.

The card seemed to suit some lace.

We have been having walks in our local area ever since the lock down started. Can you imagine our surprise we found a pond that really isn't very far from home. Here is a picture of the pond. It just needs some ducks.

Needless to say I decided not to use this card for my cousin. I have made him another one. This card will be one for my stash.

Beccy's Place - Painted Blooms

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your weekend? We had a nice lazy day on Saturday. My husband had a lovely time away and he did stay up very later so a lazy day was just right for him.  Today we are heading off to the Craft Show at Newbury Racecourse.

I am one of the blog contributors for Beccy's Place. I was sent the beautiful Painted Blooms digital stamp set to use. I made three cards.

I did love these images as soon as I saw them. For the card I wanted a matching backing paper so I made my own. I used Publisher and created a background. Then I repeated a small version of the image over and over to create a row. Which I then copied and pasted down the document. It really didn't take too long and the paper matches exactly. The main image was printed twice I used the pre-coloured images. I used one of the images as a base then I cut the petals and leaves and shaped them to give dimension. The whole image was sprayed with a glaze and Glossy Accents was added to the centre of the flowers. I used the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions to cut the frame for the image.

This is the Painted Blooms digital image set. It is available HERE.

For this card I made the backing paper in the same way. The circles are from the middle of the frame from the first card. I added a corner die cut.

You know that I like making cards from Snippets. Well I have quite a few bits of the backing paper left over. So I cut them into strips along with some gold mirror card. The sentiment was mounted onto the Refined Rectangles frame.

Here are the cards together. I was pleased with how they turned out. It is a very pretty set of images to use.

Not Just Cards Challenge Blog - May Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? I had a lovely day for my birthday on Thursday. We went down to Gun Wharf Quays in Portsmouth. There we saw the film Long Shot and followed that with a very nice meal in Cafe Rouge. Today we will be heading into Southampton to meet our daughter and son-in-law. They are treating us  to see the Pokémon Detective Pikachu movie. I am not quite sure what to think though to be honest the reviews don't seem to be too bad. Anyway the cinema there is very nice and we will have a meal after.

Today being the 11th of the month sees the start of the new challenge at the Not Just Cards Challenge blog. The theme for our challenges is always Anything Goes.

I had in my stash a very pretty paper kit, that came free with a magazine some time ago. I used the papers and card from the kit as well as some lace that I bought at a craft fair.

Why not come and join in with our challenge. Click on the logo and you will be taken there.

There was a selection of toppers in the kit. I chose this one for my special friend.

I used the Small Butterfly die set from the John Next Door range to make the butterflies.

The special friend that I made this card for, had her birthday way back in December.

Have a great weekend.

Moving Along with the Times (Moving Along with the Times) Challenge blog - theme A Little Shabby Chic

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? My shoulder has been playing up and I am finding it difficult to craft. Strangely I have more requests to make cards this week than for a long time.

Today the new challenge starts at the Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT) Challenge blog and this time the theme is A Little Shabby Chic. Now this is not a style I usually embrace.

I had a set of beautiful papers and matching sentiments in my stash and I decided to used these to make a birthday card for a friend. I used scissors to rough the edges of the paper and Distress ink to add colour. The small piece of lace was in my stash.

Why not come and join in with our challenge click on the logo and you will be taken there.

I used the Sophia die set from Creative Expressions to cut the frame for the sentiment.

I used the Passion Flower die set from Creative Expressions to make the flower and the leaves.

Since I made this card I had a request for a 80th Birthday card. So I adapted this card to suit. I will have to make another one for my friend. I do think it is a good idea to make cards without sentiments and then to add them later when you know how they are going to be used.

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Through the Craft Room Door (TTCRD) Guest Designer

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How is your week going? I am now into the thick of invigilating. This time the Year 10's are doing practice exams. It is nice to have a part time job.

Back last year I was a winner of one of the challenges at the Through the Craft Room Door (TTCRD) Challenge blog. As a result I was asked to be a Guest Designer for the challenge that starts today. I was very lucky and I was able  to work with a beautiful image from Morgan's Artworld who is sponsoring the challenge.

The backing card came from the back of my Advent Calendar. The card was embossed with the Heart Lattice Embossing folder from Creative Expressions. In the corner I added the Lattice die from the Sandwich Box die set from John Next Door.

The image I chose to work with was the Old Roses Frame.  The images are available to sell in Albums within a Facebook Group called Morgan's Artworld Digital Image Shop which you can reach HERE.

I created a background on the computer and I added a personalised  greeting at the same time. I coloured the image with Promarkers. I added some die cuts to enhance the design along with some lace.

This is a card I made for a commission I am sure the recipients have it now.

Crafts Galore Encore - June Challenge - Anything Goes

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? Being half term there are no exams so I have had the week to get ahead with my Design Team makes. I have two more weeks of exams and then it starts all over again in September.

Being the first of the month (I can't believe it is June already) the new challenge starts on the Crafts Galore Encore Challenge blog and the theme is always Anything Goes. The sponsor this time is Sparkle 'N' Sprinkle.

I made this card for my Mother-in-law she loves poppies. The aperture was cut with the Double Pierced Circle dies from Creative Expressions. The lace was in my stash.

There are many wonderful image in the store from a few different designers it is well worth a look. If you click on the logo you will be taken to the store.

On the computer I created a background and I used the pre-coloured poppy that way I can give the image a transparent background. I was able to flip the poppy so I could build up this bunch. I printed the image three times so that I could decoupage the blooms.

The sentiment came from the same set.

I am sure my Mother-in-law will love this card. This year she will be 91. Here birthday is in just a few weeks time.

Crafty Catz Challenge blog- Anything Goes with the optional twist of using the Sketch

Hello My Crafty Blog Friends and Visitors

How has your week been? I have been rather busy which I must admit I rather like. I have been invigilating, I helped at a Felting workshop and I have been out to lunch. This evening our daughter and son-in-law are coming to supper it will be lovely to see them and share a meal. All of this has made it rather hard for me to keep up with my crafting and blogging. Our weekend will be full of gardening.  Our garden has been somewhat neglected for several years so it is taking a while to get it back into order.

Being Friday the new challenge starts today on the Crafty Catz Challenge blog the theme is Anything Goes but we have the optional twist of using the Sketch provided by Niki one of our very talented designers. The sponsor is Digi Doodle Studios. The design team had wonderful images to work with.

All the papers lace and ribbon I used came from my stash lots of it left over from the wedding last year.

Our sponsor this month is Digi Doodle Studios if you click on the logo you will be taken to the store.

Here is the sketch. I rather enjoyed using it.

This image is called Jade and Skye Digi Doodles Sheep Dog Digi Stamp and is available HERE. I printed the image onto Neenah Card Stock and I coloured with Promarkers. Then I used the ScanNcut to cut out the image.

I had been using the Cape Daisy dies from Creative Expressions and the Star Flower leaves from John Next Door to make flowers for other cards. They seemed to go well with this design.

This is my go to Happy Birthday die from Crafter's Companion.

Have a great weekend. Of course there is the Royal Wedding and the FA cup final all to enjoy.
