holiday in June - Vrsi Mulo

Hello!

I'm back! It's been a while since I blogged. Last week we were on a little vacation. We went to stay with my aunt in Vrso Mulo.

It's about a 3 hour drive from Zagreb and we always like to stop to stretch our legs, grab a snack, etc. This time we stopped in Lika for a little rest before we continued on.

And we made it! Vrsi Mulo.

They are literally as big as my head!!!

What I loved about this holiday is that it wasn't crowded the first few days. Literally felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. But by the time we left tourists started to arrive.

My aunts house is the third house up from the beach. The photo below I took standing on the beach looking at my aunts house.

I'll be back with more pics!

celebrating

Hello! I've got a special post today...celebrating my 12 year wedding anniversary (which was yesterday)...it was one of the best days of my life! I'm blessed that we are still going strong and in love!! :) I will also continue my 'Croatia month' theme with a little history lesson on the church where we got married.

A cute little card I made for my man! :)

photo

'The parish Church of St Anselm located in the centre of Nin, was the Nin cathedral during the rule of Croatian Kings and later. It was built in the 6th century and restored during the reign of King Zvonimir in 1070 and through history suffered damage several times and assumed its present-day appearance in the 18th century.' What made it so special getting married in this church (besides the awesome history) is it's the church where my mom was baptised, had her first communion and confirmation...It meant the world to my mom too!

'On one side of the Bell Tower the lateral chapel of St Marcela called „Our Lady of Zečevo“ leans against the church; the church is from the 15th century and contains the statue of Our Lady with the Divine Child in her arms. The chapel also contains Renaissance work, a tombstone of the Nin Bishop, Juraj Divnić. In 1646, before the Venetian attack, the statue was transferred to Zadar and ten years later returned again to the lateral chapel of the Nin church, where it can be found today.'

Before the church...so nervous...can you tell!! :)

Officially Mr. & Mrs. Beljo! The priest helped me with my dress as we walked out of the church...so cute! :)

Did I ever mention that my husband comes from a BIG family....think the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding people!! Here's a photo of me with my father in law and all his sister's and brother's...(I believe two are missing)!! There's that many on my mother in law's side!! LOL

Our bridal party

Our first dance! :)

So to celebrate I wanted to do a little giveaway...I'm giving away two things so there will be two winners...first giveaway is my Home Sweet Home stamp set!

The other giveaway is one of my favourite facial scrubs that is made in Croatia (gotta keep with the Croatian theme!!)..Nikel's Mild Exfoliant with Olive Tree...I LOVE it...it's so gentle, doesn't irritate my skin...all natural ('Gentle exfoliant with micro-scrubbers of olive kernel, suitable for most sensitive skin. Removes dead cells, stimulates skin renewal deeply cleanses, refreshes and provides better hydration. Tightens pores. Increases effectiveness of products applied after the exfoliant.')

So if you're interested please leave a comment and I'll randomly choose two winners (everyone around the globe is welcome to play along!! :) ). This giveaway ends in a week! Good luck! :) xo

Life's a Beach!

Hello! Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

Here we go...continuing with my Croatia month! :)
The beach...ahhhhh the beach! :) When we go to Nin and Vrsi Mulo (where we stay with my aunt....Vrsi is about a 10 minute drive from Nin...my grandmother is from Vrsi) we like to go to the local beaches and not the touristy ones...and I suggest if visiting Croatia find out where the local beaches are and check them out.

This beach here where you can see my feet!! LOL is the beach where my mom as a child went to...I LOVE it...it's a sandy beach but in the water it's a mix of rock and sand.

Nin is also known for it's medicinal mud (peloid). It's located near the sandy Queen's beach and has been tested by thousands of people and is organized by one of Zadar's Health Institutions. It  treat various health issues such as rheumatic diseases, spinal deformalities, female infertility, skin disorders.....
My family had a go!! :) My husband couldn't get over how SMOOTH his skin was...he kept telling me to feel him up! LOL

I found this photo here! LOL my family wasn't as generous with the mud as this one! :)

This beach (below) is in Vrsi Mula (where my aunt is...she's three house up from this beautiful beach!!)...this is a pebble stone beach. (my two boys - Jakov the little shrimp standing in the water and Marko sitting next to him).

Mia jumped off this little pier about a million times! :)

We found this little treasure near the beach in Vrsi...Church of St. Jacob from the 11th century...my youngest was very excited because his name is Jakov (Jacob in English).

And just down from this beautiful church is a beach called the Coast of St. Jacob....Jakov thinks he owns the joint! :)

Hope you enjoyed this post...of coarse there's more to come! :) And there'll be a pop quiz at the end...just kidding...maybe a giveaway! :)

Nin part 3 - Church of St. Nicholas

Hello!

I'm back with more Nin!! :)

I'd like to share some photo of the beautiful Church of St. Nicholas (Crkva Sv. Nikole). Every summer we come here and every summer I have to snap a million pictures!!

This historical treasure is located in the fields of Prahulje. Seven kings were crowned in Nin and each crowned ruler rode on horseback to the Church of St. Nicholas to be presented to the people!

The sunset on this very spot is breathtaking!!

If I had super hero powers I would lift this beautiful church and put it next to my house and turn it into my office...huh...what do you think??! LOL

It was a special visit this time around because my oldest learned all about this church and the Croatian rulers so for him to actually be able to see and touch...it was awesome!

Have a great weekend!
