Hoppy Birthday

Today as it is the 28th and the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 97th month of de-stash, so we are into our 8th year of challenges.  I cannot believe my thought about using what we have is now 8+ years old!   I really like these challenges and know they will continue as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Lisa posted our January challenge---Make a Masculine Card!

I picked a very old Darcie's Stamp Set called Cheers.  I love the big mug of beer!  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and fussy cut the image.  I picked some masculine patterned paper that looks like paneling.  I added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I embossed with a Sizzix folder called Woven. I used a very old Stampin' Up punch for the Hoppy sentiment.   I added some silver stars around the card.

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days. There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJAN.  You might see many cards there if you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For February, Suzy is up for our challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create then!

Christmas In July

It is the first Tuesday in July and time for my A Card A Week Challenge!  The  new theme is Christmas in July.  I love making Christmas Cards, so this is a perfect theme.  I also have a couple of Christmas kits that I have received in the past few weeks, so I get to use those up too!

This is a kit from Kristyn for our Christmas Crazy group on SCS and she sent me this sweet Darcies Penguin Pals image.  I colored it with my Copic Sketch Markers and layered it with We R Memory Keepers Yuletide patterned paper Kristyn included.  I used a few Stampin' Up punches for the sentiment and in the corner of the image.  I added some Stampin' Up Cherry Cobbler Quilted Satin Ribbon and Green Enamel Dots.

Here is the inside of my card, with another sentiment from the same set.

I like this card and hope you and Kristyn does too.  I hope you will stop back next week to see what the next Christmas card in July!

Ready? Set. Go!

Today is the third Wednesday of the month and that means a Ready, Set, Go Challenge Card! The 3 Musketeers (Jeanette, Kelly and I) are back with another challenge this month--our 18th month!  We are now coming to the end year #2!

Jeanette provided the challenge for October and she posted an interesting challenge:  Jeanette got her first pair of glasses in 1978.  She remembered being amazed at the things she could see that had been hidden before without her knowing it.  She had us research for facts/trivia/etc. from the year 1978 and then take something we discover from that year and use it in someway to make a card. So--off I went to search for something from 1978.  There were many choices, but the top 2 TV shows that year were Laverne and Shirley along with Happy Days.  Bingo!  They were two of my favorite shows as they were set in Milwaukee!  I have lived in a suburb outside of Milwaukee since 1979!  They used many local names and places in the show--it was fun to watch each episode.  And, what made Milwaukee famous--Beer!  And, those funny ladies both worked at Shotz Brewery. I knew the route I was going to take.  Ready?  Set.  Go!

I used a stamp set that I have had for a few years, but I am not sure it has ever been inked up.  I remember buying it at a stamp show in Madison.  It has a huge beer mug image with the word Cheers printed all over it.  The set also has some fun sentiments-so I picked a birthday sentiment.  I hope my friends like my memory of 1978!

Here is the inside of my card:

Please be sure to check out the other Ready, Set, Go cards.  Here is a link to Jeanette's and Kelly's blog.  I am sure you will not be disappointed and will see a couple of great cards! I hope Kelly and Jeanette like my card and that you might too! Kelly is up for the next theme, so be sure to check back to see what we are up to on the 3rd Wednesday in November!

Challenge Your Stash

It is the 28th and that means a new post for our group on SCS.  This is post #5 for Challenge Your Stash!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group and the card is due to be posted on the 28th.

Suzy
posted our June challenge--make a card showing off your favorite beverage.  I love lots of different beverages but since it is summer, I decided to choose beer!  This is a new stamp set that I got a month or so ago and I decided to ink it up.  I really do like a cold beer when it is hot outside, especially after working in the gardens.  I think this is a perfect card for my brother or one of my nephews!

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards today.  There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJUNE.  You might see many cards there is you do a search.

Mystery Revealed

If you are looking for my Melonheadz Challenge card, please scroll down!

This card is for a Mystery Swap on SCS. A group of us are doing a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same mystery image, sent to us by the hostess. This swap was created by Forest Ranger—Jeanette and we are now starting our third round!  Jeanette is the hostess this month and she sent us this sweet snowman long with a couple of sentiments.  She will swap the cards and send everyone the next image, which will be provided by Tracie.  We then get to do it all again!

Here is the inside of my card:

I hope Jeanette and the others like my card.

Happy Freezin' Season ~ Unidentified Image Swap

This is the card for the 5th round an Unidentified Image swap on SCS.  It is a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The unidentified part is that we to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--today!   The images for this round were provided Jeanette.  She will swap the cards and include the next image that Linda, our next hostess, provides in our return envie.  And then we get to do it all again!!!!

The image the Jeanette sent was so cute—she thought we might be tired of making Christmas cards, so she provided us with a winter image.  I think this card turned out pretty nice—and I hope Jeanette as well as the others in the swap like it also.
