Vintage Looks

Today as it is the 28th and the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS. This is our 102nd month of de-stash, so we are into our 8th year of challenges.  I cannot believe my thought about using what we have is now 8+ years old! I really like these challenges and know they will continue as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!

The premise is to create a card or something else that uses only items that are in your own stamp room--nothing new is to be purchased.  The hostess each month posts their challenge to the group. Each person in the group creates their card with their own image, their own papers, their own embellishments with their own supplies--using up items from their own stash!  The card can be for any occasion and each person is encouraged to send the card on its way to someone so it can be admired.  It is a way for us to step out of the box a bit and create something that follows a challenge--isn't that what a challenge is supposed to be.  And--no money is spent as all items are to be already available in each of own stamping spaces.

Vickie posted our June challenge---Make a card with a vintage style

I picked a cute set from The Project Bin called Classic Man.  I love the old car image and the set has some amazing sentiments too.  I stamped the image in black ink and die cut it, along with a black layer,  with my Pinkfresh Studio Fancy Labels Frames Dies. I stamped a sentiment from the set and die cut it with a Pink & Main Extra Large Sentiment Strip Die.  I added some Stampin' Up black twine behind the sentiment.  The background panel is from Graphic 45.  I added some Stampin' Up black enamel dots around the card.

If you check some of the blogs on my sidebar, you may find others who have posted their cards in the next few days. There may be more posted in the thread on SCS, so you might want to check out the link here.  We also have a keyword for the SCS Gallery--it is CYSJUN.  You might see many cards there if you do a search.  They probably will be posted today or in the next few days.

I hope you enjoyed my card and I know I am excited to check out what my other hoarders, I mean stash reducers have made!  Thanks for stopping by today!  For July, Jeanette is up for our challenge.  Be sure to check back to see what we create then!

Late, but here!

I am very late as this is NOT the 15th and this is my card this month for our The Creative Crew!  We are a group of 7--Jeanette, Carol, Darlene, Lorraine, Terry, Tracie and me. Each month will be a new challenge posed by one of the members sending out a kit.  This month Darlene sent us a sweet kit with a masculine theme.  She included a boat load of Gina K Designs images and sentiments from a newer set called Mr. Fix It. They were all die cut--How Awesome! She also included some patterned paper and an embossed panel that she added ink--that is the one I picked for my background!

I colored a few of the tools and hardware with my Copic Sketch Markers. The background was sent by Darlene and it was embossed with a Sizzix woodgrain folder, brushed with Cinnamon Ink. I added a strip of the green patterned paper from the kit for a place to "lay" the tools and hardware! I added two of the sentiments that Darlene included.  This was a very fun card to make.

I hope all of The Creative Crew Gals enjoy my card this month.  Please be sure to stop in to see what fun crafty cards are posted this month.  All of the blogs can be found on my left sidebar.  Our teammate Lorraine does not have a blog, so please check out her card in her SCS gallery.   I am sure you will enjoy all of the fun cards!  AND--be sure to check back a few days as they probably were posted on time!

We will be back in July with another challenge that I will provide for us.  I better start to think of what to send.   Be sure to check in with us on the 15th to see what fun is planned!

Cards for Him

This weekend, I am participating in a Pinkfresh Studio Create and Connect virtual event, called Cards for Guys.  Yesterday, I actually finished both cards from the class taught by Kathleen Schmelz.

Reminder--these are not my own designs!  The cards are the designs of the other instructors from these classes.  I am just recreating the cards from the class.

This class by Kathleen used this sweet bundle called True Classic.  The set includes the stamp set, matching die and a 4 piece stencil. She used the Dotted Nested Deckled Rectangles that we also received in our the event box.  I know I will use those often in the future!  We did ink blending, heat embossing, made a framed window card and just enjoyed playing with this fun kit--I love the car!

Today there are three classes and my hope is to complete at least one of the classes!

Lisa posted our January challenge---Make a Masculine Card!

I picked a very old Darcie's Stamp Set called Cheers.  I love the big mug of beer!  I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and fussy cut the image.  I picked some masculine patterned paper that looks like paneling.  I added a piece of Basic Black cardstock that I embossed with a Sizzix folder called Woven. I used a very old Stampin' Up punch for the Hoppy sentiment.   I added some silver stars around the card.

Masculine Winter Birthday Card

Today is the day I am posting my card for our Challenge Your Stash group on SCS.  This is our 85th month of de-stash, so we are at the end of our 7th year of challenges.  I cannot believe my thought about using what we have is now 7 years old!   I really like these challenges and know they will continue as I know I have many, many items in my stash that I can use and love the fun challenges!  This is the first one for 2024 and we have themes set for all of the months.

Anna posted our January challenge--We have a number of January birthdays in my family, all men.  Make a winter birthday card for a man.

I picked a Stampin' Up set called Christmas Barn and it also has a set of coordinating dies called Barn. I stamped the barn with Taylored Expressions Mulled Wine and die cut the image.  I also die cut the fence from the same die set.  I picked a birthday sentiment from the Stampin' Up Hey Chuck set and stamped with Chocolate Truffle.  I then die cut the sentiment  and a backer with Taylored Expression Modern Sentiment Label dies. I added some twine behind the sentiment.   I added some clear Wink of Stella in the snow around the barn for some shine.  I then used Frosted Lace Stickles along the fence for some added snow.  The background paper is from Carta Bella Let it Snow-Pretty Pines.

Let's Go Fishing!

This is my July card for the monthly themed swap that Terry is hosting on SCS. Each month she will post a theme and we make cards using any stamp set we believe follows that thought. The theme for July is "Sparkling Water"

The stamp set I picked for this month is a favorite Stampin' Up set for masculine cards called Best Catch.  I paired it with some of the new SU Designer Series Paper called Let's Go Fishing!  I stamped the image and sentiment in Pecan Pie so it has a bit of a vintage look.  I added some SU Braided Linen Trim and used my circle punches for the sentiment.  A few cream enamel dots
were added for the final touch.

I hope Terry and the others swappers like my card this month too! Terry has posted all of the 2023 themes, so be sure to come back to see what we create!

Masculine Card Kits

Today is the last day of May and I am posting a set of cards for our newer challenge--Catch-up Club!  A few of my SCS and stamping friends, Darlene, Jeanette and Terry along with myself, have signed up for a number of virtual stamping events in the past 2 1/2 years.  One of the benefits of these events are that they are available to rewatch or even watch for the first time at a later date as they are all recorded. The 4 of us "try" to watch live and chat by texting during the event.  But, life steps in and there are times when one or more of us are not participating during the live.  Then, the kits from sponsors sits in our stamping area until we are ready to watch the video and create.  During one of the events, we decided we needed to push ourselves (and each other) to get some of these events done!   So--we all decided to devote one day a month, the last day of the month for the procrastinators that we are, to post cards we missed making.  So--here we are in our 6th month of The Catch Up Club!

Reminder--these are not my own designs!  The cards are the designs of the Sarah and the other instructors from these classes.  I am just recreating the cards from the class.

These 4 sets of cards are from a recent virtual masculine card class sponsored by Sarah and The Paper Cut in Appleton.   I was not able to participate live, so I watched the replay a few days later and made the cards.  I bought two kits, so I have double of each of the cards.  Sarah included many options for the greetings.  The patterned paper was so fun and this is pack that is offered on The Paper Cut's website.  Sarah designs such awesome cards and many are fun folds!

Sarah offers many different kinds of classes through the year and kits can be ordered from their website.  And, there is an in-person class in September where we can make a boat-load of cards.  That will also be a virtual option.

I hope you enjoyed my cards!  Here are the links to the other of the Catch Up Club.  Please be sure to check out Jeanette's, Terry's, and Darlene's blogs.  They may post today or tomorrow, but we have all promised to post cards that we have missed the making along the way!

Create It 3 Ways IG Hop

This is a set of three cards that I posted on Instagram yesterday for a new hop called Create It 3 Ways! This hop is to showcase triple inspiration by creating 3 cards by choosing our own category to feature across all three cards.   The theme for May is masculine cards vby celebrating Father's Day or celebrating a male loved one.  My category was to use the same oldie but goodie Stampin' Up set called Dapper Dad.  I love the focal point of the bold images.

These cards also highlight a fun package of Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up called Country Club.  I love the plaids, argyles and the cute golf card paper! All of the sentiments are from various Simon Says Sentiment Strip Packs.

This hop on Instagram will happen every month on the third Saturday--see, another three!  If anyone is interested in joining up, contact Amrita on IG @amritapettus.  I know I will be back hopping in June!

TE Tuesdays

Here is my card for a 2023 Monthly Challenges--Taylored Expressions Tuesdays!  I "tried" to do this in 2022, but was not successful.  I am really gong to do better this year.  I am challenging myself to make a card once a month using one of the many Taylored Expressions stamp sets that I have and am calling it TE Tuesdays!

The stamp and 3 piece stencil set that I picked for January is Argyle. The ink cubes that I used for stenciling was Avocado, Honey and Blue Corn.  I used my TE blender brushes--it sure makes the blending so easy.  The sentiment is from Oh Yes You Did and was embossed with white on navy cardstock.  I die cut the words with the coordinating die. I layered the sentiment three times.  It is quite a masculine looking card, but I did decided that it needed some embellishments, so some orange TE Confetti Dots were added.

I hope you like my Taylored Expressions card.  I will be back in February for another card using my fun TE stamps!

Hang In There

This is my card for a swap called the SIS--Surprise Image Swap.   This is card #5  for our group.  It is a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The surprise part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted--the 18th of every other month.   The image for this round was provided by Laura Jean.  She will swap the cards and include the new image for round #6 that Diane stamps in everyone's return envie. Then--we do it all again in December!

LJ sent everyone this sweet fox image and the fun sentiment from a stamp set from Taylored Expressions called Swinging By.  I colored the cute fox image with my Copic Sketch Markers.  I then die cut two circles with my Stampin' Up Layering Circle Dies in The Paper Loft Pinecone Lodge patterned paper and Mossy Meadow layer.  I placed the fox image behind the window of circles.  I layered the sentiment over a strip of Early Espresso Satin Ribbon.  I think this is a nice masculine card to send to a guy who might be struggling a it.   Because of that, I did not add any bling..............

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations.  The due date is today, the 18th, or they may post in the upcoming days. You can also check out SCS and use the keyword SIS05 to see some posted there.  I hope everyone in the swap likes my card--and that you do too!

Shoebox Swap

Today I am showing you the card I made for a shoebox swap.  I was at a retreat last weekend that was set up by my demo Sarah and she calls it Galentines!  It was so much fun.  I attended back in 2019, but then could not attend in 2020 or 2021. I then lost my spot but I got a call a few weeks ago from Sarah that someone had to drop and asked if I wanted it.  YES!!!  It was 3 1/2 days of great fun and I was able to tackle many of the kits I had stacked from various companies.  And, we completed a dozen shoebox cards and every one was so different.

My card uses the Stampin' Up Sailing Home stamp set along with the coordinating Smooth Sailing die set.   I stamped the sailboat and sentiment in Night of Navy and the anchor in Sahara Sand.  I then die cut each of the images with the coordinating dies.  I used the Seaside Embossing Folder to emboss the Balmy Blue layer under the images. The background paper is from the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper Pack.  I added some linen thread to the anchor.

Here is the inside of my card, under the flap:

I really like this card as it is a fun masculine card.  I hope you too like it!

Final UIS Card

This is my card for the 59th and final round of the UIS--Unidentified Image Swap on SCS. It is the last of this "group" of swappers as it is combining with the Mystery Image Swap.  The new swap will be called SIS--Surprise Image Swap and will debut in February!  It is the same premise--a group of ladies who are a part of a bi-monthly swap where we all use the same image, sent to us by the hostess.  The surprise part is that we are to not discuss the image at all until the day they are to be posted.   The image for this final round was provided by Darlene  She will swap the cards and include the new image for the SIS that I  sent to her in our return envie. Then--we will all be combined and start the new swap, with round #1 in February 2022.

Darlene sent everyone this great retired Stampin' Up image called Coast to Coast.  She also asked us to make a masculine card and add a simple sentiment as she is donating her cards to AA. I colored the image with my Copic Sketch Markers and die cut it along with a navy layer from Gina K Designs Labels dies. I layered the image over some Authentique Abroad Away-Touring Patterned Paper.  The sentiment is from A*Muse Studio and I did cut it with a banner from Gina K Designs Master Layouts 3.  I added a strip of denim ribbon as the final touch.

Here is the inside of my card:

If you check some of the other blogs listed on my sidebars, you may find some other swappers who have posted their creations--due date is today, the 18th--or they may post in the upcoming days. You can also check out SCS and use the keyword UIS59 to see some posted there.  I hope everyone in the swap likes my card--and that you do too!
