Last week I was contacted about participating in the Tombow "100 Day" Celebration. Tombow will provide $10,000 in Tombow art products to the Council for Arts Education, which is a nonprofit organization promoting and supporting art education and quality art programs nationwide. There are 100 different bloggers participating in this celebration, and for each blog post, Tombow will be donating $100 worth of products to the Council for Arts Education in their honor. For my project, I decided to design an "Explosion Box". I love creating flowers from card stock, so my box contains many flowers.
This is a picture of the explosion box open and you can see the box lid in the top left corner. I have created both a large rose and many smaller roses using Susan's Garden dies from Sizzix. There are two Memory Box "Pippi Butterflies" attached to clear acrylic flying above the large rose. You can see them best in the first picture above.

To go along with the box, I created a card which includes mini roses created with the Susan's Garden "Mini Petals". The stamped birdhouse image is from Heartfelt Creations.
The Heartfelt Creations image was colored using the Tombow Irojiten Colored Pencils. I love these pencils. Usually when I color with colored pencils I use Gamsol to blend the colors. The Irojiten pencils blend so well I did not need to use Gamsol. The Irojiten pencils come in 90 different colors. I am going to start working to collect all 90 of them for my coloring needs.
Below I am going to give a few instructions on how I created the Explosion Box.
I started with a 12x12 piece of white card stock (80 Cover Weight), for the box. Since it is an explosion box, the sides need to fall open once the lid is taken off. The 12x12 piece was scored at 4" from the left side, on all four sides, then the corner pieces were cut out. The four center pieces were then creased well on the score lines with a bone folder.
The inside of the box was decorated with three layers of card stock, each cut 1/8" smaller, on each side. The bottom piece was attached to the side with the Tombow Stamp Runner and the other two layers were attached using dimensional tape. To add the Memory Box "Floral Circle" in the center of each side, I used Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue. The large rose in the center of the box was created using the Susan's Garden "Rose Die". On the outside of the box I cut a piece of card stock slightly smaller and embossed it using the Cuttlebug "Swiss Dots" embossing folder.
