Inspiration Elevator #27 - Go BIG or Go Home.

Good morning.......a delightful Monday morning no less!

It also happens to be the 15th of the month, which means it's time for another generous helping of inspiration from all of the creative ladies at Inspiration Elevator.

Our main purpose here at IE is to challenge ourselves, each other and YOU to take the creative process to the next level;  to inspire growth and change in our scrapbooking beyond the mundane.

You can see all of Inspiration Elevator's previous challenges at our blog and catch us on Facebook .

We are thrilled to welcome back as a guest designer with our team, the very talented Christine Meyer!

This month's challenge is issued by the creative Christa Uttley. Here is her challenge for us, in her own words:

GO BIG OR GO HOME: Scrapbookers as a rule use what photos they have on
hand or if you are designing, whatever pictures allow you to best
showcase your lines or express your paper lines. This month's challenge
is to be very deliberate about your photo choice because we are going
BIG! Bigger than 8x10 if you can do it. Recently, I saw a friend using a
12x12 she had printed at the local
Costco and was stunned at the power this GIANT image had on her story
telling. (If you'd rather not spend any extra on your photo then scrap
those large baby pictures or a wedding shot you have lying around.)
Think scenic vistas or think about all the details that go missing in
your world and blow them up. Be brave!
Here are the MUST DO's: Must be at least 8x10 in size. We want this
GIANT photo to take centre stage and tell the story in a big way.

So there you have it........BIG is the word!

I must admit, this kind of challenge has been on my scrapbooking bucket list for quite some time.  I'm so glad I finally get the nudge I needed in order to accomplish the task.

I chose a photograph from our recent camping trip, and had the print developed at Costco as an 8"x12" for $1.99.......pretty reasonable I'd say!  I'm already thinking of my next 'oversized' project, but first, here's the result of this month's endeavor:

Summer Daze

There's one thing for sure when you're scrapping large photographs - you can complete a page fairly efficiently as there isn't an awful lot of room to fit too much on the page!

I started with the 'Homemade' collection of papers from Pebbles, and if you were over here on Friday when I posted this layout, you may remember me saying how much I LOVE this line.  I actually did run out and buy extras to make sure I could complete another 1 or 2 pages with them!

Today's effort is page #2.

Layers of torn paper and 'faux' stitched edges create the background........

The pretty flowers are fussy cut from a sheet of PP, and there's a vine tucked in there from a Silhouette cut file.

Another fussy cut flower, plus a single piece of flare provide the sunshine........

Finally the title is made up of Thickers and another Silhouette cut.........

That's just about all.

Here's a list of this months participating designers......we encourage you to check out each of their creations, then head on back to try the challenge yourself:

Jayne Morgan - that's me!

Now it's your turn to 'Go Big' and get creating.  Just remember to link up over at the IE blog as we'd love to see your 'BIG' inspiration!

Have a great day,

Oh the places you'll go........

I still have one last layout to reveal from a Two Scrapbook Friends DT Kit, using the 'Pool Party' collection from Pebbles Inc.  It seems such a long time ago, I'd practically forgotten about it!

Anyhow, this ones another bright, summery page perfect for today.

Here's 'Forever Friends':

I used a glassine envelope, scrunched to hold a journal tag.  I couldn't resist using the quote from Dr Seuss.....I just added a little extra on the end, referring to my daughter's bear she takes EVERYWHERE!

This time he's catching a ride in the back of her trike, so I placed a 'Polaroid' style frame over top of the photograph to highlight.

I love the title on this one.

I used one of those chipboard stencils (Fancy Pants I believe), pushed the letters out then used the stencil to first ink, and then stencil with a sharpie pen.  I finally added the original letters themselves.

My Lucky 8 Punch from We R Memory Keepers was used to create the shaped circle, and also their Sew Easy Circle Tool, this time with a 'zig-zag' head to create the stitching.

Finally, an easy peasy vellum banner......I say easy peasy because they're part of this collection and ready made for you......just have to stick em' on there!

I added a couple of pinwheel stickers and lollipop sticks for a little extra.

Wow that was a lot of photographs!

I'll be back next week with something......not sure what yet - I'll see where the creative juices (or time allowance!) take me.

Have a great weekend, enjoying the sunshine I hope.
Take care,
Jayne.x.

@ The Beach

Hi there, how's it going?

Time for another scrapbook layout and a sketch on here today, as it's my turn to host a Sketchy Challenge over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum.

For this weeks sketch, I thought I'd use a recent page as inspiration, and as the weather actually feels a little 'summery' once again, the timing is perfect.

Here's  Sketch #16

The circle base grounds things nicely, and there's still plenty of space to add your own flare.

Here's my page using an awesome summer themed collection from Pebbles Inc.......'Pool Party'.

This collection includes a variety of vellum, ready stitched banners which means the hard work is done for you!

I did try out a new Nestability for the flowers and gave them acrylic/pearl centers.

And that's all.

Enjoy your day and I'll be back, sooner rather than later.....hopefully!

Take care,
Jayne.x.

5 For 5

How's it going so far this week?

I don't know about you, but I'm just not into this -27 degree temperature thing.......just a tad too cold in my book!  It's almost enough to put me of my Timmies Iced Caps for a while......almost.

Anyhow I did mention a couple of days ago that it is 'un'officially 'card week' here on my blog, so guess what I have for you today?

Nope, not a card, but a whole bunch of them.  There's a reason I have more than one of course, so bear with me and I'll share the deets.

Over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum, members of the DT quite often run a challenge called '5 For 5'.  This is where the first 5 gals to sign up after said challenge is announced, are sent 5 items via snail mail, with which they can do whatever they please (within reason!)

On a predetermined date, each person will post a photo of their astounding creation and this is where we 'ooooh' and 'aaaaah' over each of them (really we do as they're always pretty cool!) and marvel at how the same 5 items can be manipulated into 5 totally unique creations.

Anyhow, to cut a long story short and get to my actual point here, the Two Friends decided to turn the tables on their Design Team and issue a '5 For 5' challenge to them..........wooo hooo, love it, bring it on!

So here are the 5 groups of embellies we were sent, together with a sheet of PP all from the Walnut Grove collection by Pebbles Inc.

The rules are that we can add whatever we like from our own stash as long as we use some, or all of each of the embellies.

So, I got to lookin' and a thinkin' and I looked and thought some more, and as much as I wanted to use all the stash, I wasn't quite sure how I was gonna accommodate a 'Hello', 'Hello Friend', 'Thanks' and 'Hello' all nicely on one finished product!

Soooooo, I did what any normal person would do in this situation........I cheated! (sort of)

I cut the heck out of some pieces, and also just happened to have sitting in my own stash, my very own package of the same extremely cool sentiment 'tags'.  This meant I could stretch things into a nice little gift set.

Most of the challenge product went into embellishing the outside of the box like so.

This collection works beautifully with Kraft card stock as it has a nice rustic/country feel to it, and I was super impressed to find the reverse of the red patterned paper has a gorgeous 'script' print on there.  This is what I used to cover the chipboard bracket........very versatile.

The inside of the box contains a set of 6 handmade cards predominantly using more of the paper, and various Spellbinder dies.  I did use scraps of paper from my own stash to add a little variation, plus you can only stretch one sheet of PP so far and six cards is pushing it just a little!

Here's the set.......

Not bad!

You can get your hands on this line of product from Pebbles, over at the TSF storeYou might also want to check out the goods from my fellow teamies, over on the TSF Blog (or the links to their blogs are over there in the left sidebar) as each one is pretty cool and inspiring in it's own way.  If you're local, all will be on display in the store too.

Well that's about it from me.

I'm hoping to finish another cool little card ready for tomorrow's post, so fingers crossed I'll see you then.

Have a good one and keep warm out there,

Two Scrapbook Friends 'Oh My Word' Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Oh My Word! Blog Hop with Two Scrapbook Friends! You should have arrived here from Laureen’s blog. If you didn’t, you might want to start at Two Scrapbook Friends, so you can read all about it and you won’t miss any of the great inspiration along the way!

So..........choose one word for 2013 we were told......boy that was a toughie!

When the Blog Hop theme was announced, the first word that popped into my head was 'Breathe' and then I immediately dismissed it!  I needed something inspirational, something witty, something no-one else would think of.

I thought about it some more over the next few days, tried out a few other options and came to this conclusion........the word Breathe is my inspiration, my witty, and it may not be something truly original (later finding that it was to be included in our Blog Hop badge confirmed that one!) it speaks to me, and that's the whole point here.

Now of course when I say 'Breathe' I'm not just referring to the physical act of inhale/exhale type of thing, although I do plan on continuing that tradition!  I'm thinking more of the 'take a moment and use it wisely' theory.

All too often we are caught up in the busy everyday routines we all try to juggle, and although this is by no means a bad thing.......I really do feel blessed to have these choices and opportunities, I also worry that one day I will wake and wonder where the years have disappeared.

My children will be grown and I will wish I had taken that moment to give an extra hug, a word of encouragement, or just drawn on a little more patience to listen to thoughts of last nights movie, regardless of whether we will be 2 minutes late for dance class!

So there you have it, my word for 2013..........Breathe.

On that note I should probably show you something creative before you abandon ship and head over to Shelby's blog!

Here's my page..........Breathe.

There are quite a lot of my faves on here so I'm probably going to bore you with a few extra photo's.

The papers are from the Walnut Grove collection by Pebbles and I love them.....who doesn't like a wood grain background!  I did get a little carried away with the paint splatters, but I was having so much fun.

There's plenty of machine stitching here and there, and fussy cut butterflies from one of the sheets of patterned paper, are stapled to the page.

Wooden veneers from Studio Calico (this time in word form) make an appearance again, as they have on most of my layouts recently.  The journalling is tucked nicely into the Kraft envelope and stashed behind the 'popped' photographs.

It's not that I wanted to hide the journalling away, but I didn't particularly want it to interfere with the design either.

A doily, another fave, and a cute little banner held together with Washi tape and staples, rest in the corner.

More Washi, cause you can never have enough, continues the theme nicely.

There's an eclectic little collection of embellies, my favourite of which is no doubt the cheapest option.......the messy arrangement of loose thread pulled from a spool.

There you have it.  Thanks so much for sticking with me to the very end!
