Good morning.
I realize I've been a pretty bad blogger the last week or two so please forgive me. I changed jobs a few weeks ago and I'm still trying to get into the new routine. Unfortunately crafty time always seems to suffer.
Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get back to it.
Today though, it's Friday and time for a brand new Sketch over on the Scrapmuch? blog together with a little inspiration from Team B.
Here's my effort this week:
Oh Charlie!
I do seem to be scrapping the dog quite a lot these days as I have more photo's of him than anyone! (be warned......there are more to come!)
Here's Laura's awesome sketch for you to take a peek at:
As you can see I stuck to it fairly religiously this time around.
I used a die cut from the Silhouette Store for the background panel and title, and outlined with some doodled lines.
I layered a Polaroid style frame over the photograph which I've hoarded in my stash forever, and added some chipboard and scattered enamel dots (one of my new faves - just as well really seen as I bought a job lot of them!) .
Considering the whole theme of this page ie. the dog destroying every toy he has ever been given within a matter of minutes, I love the fact that in this shot he's licking his lips with anticipation!
Finally, I had to get a little flair in there and a few handmade metal ringed tags - the best ever $2 yard sale purchase as I've used at least a dozen already, and still many more to go!
That just about covers things from me, except of course to mention that you should immediately head over to the Scrapmuch? blog to check out some inspiration from the rest of the team, then join in with this weeks challenge yourself.
Have a great weekend and I'll see you next week,
Jayne.x.
Good morning!
There's a brand new Sketch over on the Scrapmuch? blog which means it's time to get your craft on!
I don't really know what it was about my page, but when I started this one I had no idea where I was going with it......the only thing I'd decided upon was the title.
Interesting where creativity takes you I guess - sometimes good places, sometimes not so!
Blowing Raspberries
Is he a whole load of cuteness or what?
Shame he looks nothing like that now after his recent 'trim'....more like a chihuahua!!
I started out with a kraft base and used my Silhouette to cut various files from the Ahoy There paper collection by Carta Bella.
Once everything was on there I splattered away with a little white acrylic paint.
Did you see I managed to get one of my faves on there? A pin button holding down that messy thread.
And here's that title I mentioned.....the only sure thing on the page!
So all you need now is the lovely sketch and then you can join in with the challenge to try and win yourself some goodies!
Tadaaaa!
Don't forget to link up over at Scrapmuch? and check out a little more inspiration from the rest of the team.
Have a great day and I'll be seeing you again tomorrow with a sweet little page for another sweet little challenge!
Till then,
Jayne.x.
Hi there, it is definitely Friday which means it's time for a beautiful new Sketch, and a wee bit of inspiration over on the Scrapmuch? blog.
Team B is up so time for me to get myself in gear.
I thoroughly enjoyed working with this page, maybe because it has pictures of my favourite furry guy on there!
(Wo)Man's Best Friend.
On our camping adventure last Summer, we happened upon a steam train so we took a little excursion seen as doggies were allowed. Charlie of course spent most of his time with his head out of the carriage window.
Much fun!
Maybe we should all take a hint from our four legged friends.......enjoy life's simple pleasures!
Here is this weeks super Sketch:
So for my interpretation I changed up the vertical panel a little by using a sort of square patchwork instead.
If you really want the look of stitching on your page but really can't be bothered to either crank up the sewing machine or tackle things by hand (like a certain person!)I have a little tip for ya.
Distress the edges a little of whatever you're intending (not!) to sew, then actually pierce the sew lines before doodling a faux stitch with whatever colour you like. It definitely takes a little more time than just regular faux stitching, but also not as long as the real deal.
The outcome is far more realistic and it's not quite so obvious that you've cheated (even though you have technically cheated!).
I love this background paper - perfect for anything really, so I had to go and mess it up a little with some random splatters from a bottle of white Mister Huey's.
You might also notice some of my faves on there......wood, metal, my homemade enamel dots (melted Hama beads)and of course layers.
I randomly punched a couple of half circles into one border strip which made the perfect slot for another fave - a little flair!
Papers are from MME Now and Then.
Well that's all from me but we'd love for you to play along with this weeks Sketch - just link up over on the Scrapmuch? blog and you could be in with a chance of winning!
Have a great weekend, keep warm and I'll see you next week,
Jayne.x.
Today marks my first Design Team reveal for Scrapmuch?, which also means there is a brand new sketch waiting there on the blog for you to play along with!
Here is the fabulous sketch designed by the talented Laura Whitaker:
And here's my creation.......another page featuring some of my favourite photo's of my furry buddy!
Hello.......My Name Is Charlie.
I swear he is actually smiling for the camera!
I used another old fave collection........'Note To Self' by Echo Park - I think I'm down to the last scraps now.
I swapped out the third photo on the sketch in favour of a sentiment I found on the reverse of one of the patterned papers.
I also made use of some arrow stickers I had left over, and cut a couple of Viewfinder discs with my Cameo.
Another border sticker here and I also managed to sneak in a little stitching too.
Finally, lots of layers as the sketch suggests together with more Silhouette cuts.......stars and paw prints.
That just about covers it, so why not head over to Scrapmuch? and check out the rest of the DT creations? You might even grab yourself a little time to play along with this weeks Sketch Challenge.....fun to be had and of course there's a prize involved!
I'm off to get prepared for a busy weekend in our house, but I'll be back next week with something or other!
Have a great weekend,
Jayne.x.
A very happy Family Day to all my Canadian friends!
Gotta love an official holiday that allows you to sit in you jammies all day.......as a 'family'....huh?
Yep that's exactly what I plan on doing today, maybe a little crafting (and laundry!) in there too, until we head out to an Anniversary celebration later this evening.
I was a little slack with my blogging last week.....only one post, so I have to get back on track starting today.
I'm catching up on a layout I should have posted a while ago, the final creation from a Two Scrapbook Friends DT Kit using the 'Happy Go Lucky' collection by Fancy Pants Designs (you can check out the first layout here).
This one showcases the (other) love of my life, our puppy Charlie on his first day home with us back in August 2013.
Chillin'
Isn't he cute?
He does however loose a little of his cuteness when he's hanging from the tattered remains of what used to be my living room curtains!!
For this page I focused the design around a fussy cut section of hexagonal patterned paper. I wanted a little doodling in there too, so I outlined the piece with a fine line marker.
There's a variety of embellies dotted here and there including one of those rather large light bulbs (Prima I believe but I could be wrong!)you can pick up from the 'bulk' box at Two Scrapbook Friends........I love this box.....an awesome little Aladdin's cave of embellies!
As you can see I stitched a few circles around it to add a little more definition.
Finally, to keep with the 'doodled' theme, I added some to the title by cutting the word 'Chillin' with my Cameo, then doodling by hand over top.
That's all for now so I'll be back again this week when I decide what's coming up next.
I've been having fun this week by getting messy, dabbling a little more in mixed media......variety is the spice of life they say so I guess you'll have to wait and see how that turned out!
Enjoy the rest of your day,
Jayne.x.
As the title suggests, today's post is all about the love of my life.........or rather the other love of my life!
You see my husband has a little competition these days I'm afraid, in the form of a canine furry friend - Charlie of course!
As far as scrapping goes, as least it means you get to see a change from the usual 'girlie' stuff on here.
So without further ado, here's 'My Guy'.
This is another page using my recent Two Scrapbook Friends DT Kit, from Echo Park's Photo Freedom collection by Jenni Bowlin.
As mentioned in my first post here, I love the red/black colour combo in this collection, which cried out for a little photo editing.
I can't resist these teeny tiny camera's I picked up from the store too, sooooo cute!
Most of the layout was influenced by the button stickers I wanted to use, from the co-ordinating sticker sheet........they inspired the stitched circle type of thing.
You can't help but notice my use of the Dymo labeller again - perfect journalling for this page.
On a side note, Dymo Support stopped by my blog the other day and were kind enough to leave an awfully nice comment on my use of their product.......guess you never know who's lurking out there !!
I spritzed a few messy patches of black Dylusions mist here and there, then finally, my favourite piece (other than the puppy of course!)..........the vintage pointy finger/hand kinda thing!
I LOVE it!
It was printed on a 4"x 6" journalling tag on one of the patterned papers, but I knew it had to be fussy cut along with a bracket shape and put on this page. I slipped a small piece of notepaper in there and popped the title on top.....cool!
Alrighty I think that's about all, but before I go I have to show you two more photo's.........the subject matter was trying his best to get in on the act all the while I was trying to photograph this layout. I think he liked the look of the handsome dude on there!
And then, a guilty look if ever I saw one!
That's all folks but I'll be back on Monday as it's Sketch Challenge time over at Two Scrapbook Friends.
Have a great weekend,
Jayne.x.
Well hello there.
I know I don't usually post on a Sunday and at this hour no less, but two reasons for today's visit:
1. I didn't have to work today.....well not my 'paid' job anyhow!
2.Today is the deadline for the November Sketch Challenge over on the My Minds Eye blog and as I actually managed to complete a layout using this months sketch (for once!), I thought I'd better actually post it!
So here goes.....you knew it had to be done, a page showcasing my handsome young man.......Charlie!
Isn't he cute?
Here's the sketch that inspired things:
Papers on this page are obviously My Minds Eye with various stickers, die cuts and trim added here and there.
Buttons and fancy metal brads......
I picked up an absolute bargain a couple of weeks ago at a yard sale, a Making Memories Tag maker and all the accessories to go with it......$2!!, So I got to play and make a co-ordinating tag for this page.
Finally, a few sequins dotted around.
I think that's everything there, so I'll be back in the next day or two with another layout.
Enjoy what's left of the weekend,
Jayne.x.
