Bees.....what else can I say?!

Hellooee! How's it going?

I probably should warn you that if you have an affliction toward 'bees' in any way, shape or form you may not want to continue reading today's post!

I am not a 'bee lover' myself as such, but when I'd completed 80% of the projects from my last Two Scrapbook Friends DT Kit, using the 'Bumble' collection by Adorn It, I was left with a rather excessive number of bee stickers and die cuts.

What's a girl to do?

Why......what any normal girl would of course, and make yourself a mini hive!

So that's what I did.

Got myself a quaint little paint can from the $$ store and got to work.  Here's the front showing a couple of labels, fussy cut from one of the sheets of patterned paper.

A slightly areal shot showing the pretty lid........

Full on shot of the doilies and pretty die cut flowers........

and........that's where the prettiness stops!

Now we get downs to bugs business.

I stuck a little hive in the Spanish moss there (it's actually a wooden hive shape that I covered with more PP).

Stuck most of those leftover stickers on the outside of the can..........

and the teeny bee die cuts are suspended on thin strips of acetate so that they 'float' as you move the can.......as if things weren't creepy enough!

OK, so I hope I haven't creeped you out completely........points for originality at least please?

I guess there's a first for everything and this is definitely a first (and last) for me.......I can't say I didn't enjoy it though.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you on Monday for crafting of the more 'normal' variety!

Bye for now,

Bee You...........and a Sketch!

Good morning, here I am all bright and early for a change.  I might go as far as to say 'perky', but no........I'm never 'perky'!

I do however have another creation to post today, a layout no less, and as I'm killing two birds with one stone, I have a sketch for you too.

Yesterday over on the Two Scrapbook Friends Forum, it was my turn to host this weeks Sketchy Challenge.  I decided to use a recent layout as inspiration for the sketch, which leads me nicely into starting the reveal for my latest DT kit from Two Scrapbook Friends.

I was given the opportunity to use the 'Bumble' collection from Adorn It.......a company I've never used before, but which you can of course find over at the Two Scrapbook Friend store.

So let's start with the sketch shall we.........a nice simple one with plenty of scope to choose your own shapes/embellies.

Next comes a layout, and you might guess that with a collection named 'Bumble' there may be a few 'bees' involved!  Throw in a few hexagons to replace the circles on my sketch and you have yourself a very nice 'bee' themed layout that has..........well absolutely nothing to do with bees really!

That suits me just fine as I'm not exactly a fan of the real life buzzing variety anyhow.

Here goes........'Bee You'.

This collection from Adorn It really does have everything you need to complete a page, including these awesome wooden veneer embellishments, which again you can find over at the Two Scrapbook Friends store. We all know how much I like a little wood!

The subtitle 'Sweet as Honey' is from a sheet of die cuts also available in this collection.

The hexagon shapes are either cut from various sheets of the patterned paper, stitched, or even a few more of the wooden veneers.

In case you're interested, I created the photostrip using my 'Pocketbooth' APP, available for both iPhone and Android......check it out, it's loads of fun.

Finally on this page, I highlighted the last photograph with a little twine just for effect.

That's it for my first layout from this collection, but I'll be back soon to showcase more 'Bumble' goodies.

In the mean time, feel free to get creating with this weeks sketch.

Have fun and I'll see you soon,
Jayne.x.

'Bee' Happy........

..........well, I did 'chill' for a day.....til I remembered it was Bellarific Friday over at the Stamping Bella blog, and I hadn't 'created' anything. So, after a few rants yesterday to try and get the kiddie winks to clear away the endless supply of clutter, and give me 5 minutes peace (never gonna happen!), I finally came up with something............

This is Lizzie, another of Lori Boyd's cute little 'Lollipop's' which you can find over at Stamping Bella. The challenge this week was a sketch...... gotta love em! Takes the guess work out of layouts which means I get more time to play. I've also decided I do love black matting....black and red, black and yellow......who cares, it just looks so sharp.

I coloured with Prisma's/Gamsol with a touch of Copic's for skin, and used some great DP's from October Afternoon. This was the first time I tried to cut with a 'Nestie' and have part of the image protruding from the edge. I just about succeeded, but maybe next time I'll try with something a little more substantial, instead of two antennae!

Anyhow, that's it for now. I'll leave you with the words from the song that has been running through my head since I started colouring this card......

'Don't worry.......Be Happy'

...........I promise you'll be humming it for the rest of the day!
