Introducing... Butterfly Serenade

Hello & Happy Tuesday.

Welcome to day 1 of the April Release product introductions. I hope you have had a wonderful holiday weekend celebrating Easter. Hopefully you saw the five sneak peeks yesterday HERE and you are ready for the first product introduction.

If you've been around these parts for a while, you will know of the Serenade collection. Currently there is Snowflake Serenade, Falling Hearts Serenade and Autumn Serenade

Today myself and the Brand Ambassadors get to introduce you to the newest addition, Butterfly Serenade. The set was inspired by the first card Izzy made on this blog post HERE. You might also recognise the style of the butterfly from the CraftStash Papercraft Society Box I did.

Let's have a look at this set in action...

I do love a butterfly, I saw my first couple in the garden this past weekend. I know I've been a bit butterfly obsessed recently, but it has been a while since I did anything butterfly themed! I hope you will hop along with the team and leave some comment love, they are very much appreciated.

This clear stamp set, along with all the products being introduced this week are available at 9am BST Sunday 27th April on the website. I will also have them with me at Crafterama Lincoln.

March Meet The Maker - Behind The Scenes

Happy FriYAY!

Today with March Meet The Maker, it is all about Behind The Scenes. This reminded me of a feature I did for Simply Cards & Papercrafts Magazine, which I didn't think was that long ago until I actually found it!

It might have been almost 7 years ago, as The Beans were still at nursery and they are now almost at the end of primary school. And the studio has changed a little to accommodate my husband again after The Beans decided they wanted separate bedrooms.

But I thought it would be fun to share. If you click on the picture it should be big enough for you to read!

My now, a day in the life at Uniko...

9am - 10:30 ish

At the start of my day is a little bit of admin. Emails, responding to enquiries and sending any such as product restock requests. On Monday's I update the website with a new Card Of The Week. I then look at the website to see what orders have come in overnight and I get to packing those.

10:30 -12:30 ish

I get to creating something new to share on the Uniko blog and, or social media for the day. Sometimes I am really organised and I am creating in advance!

When I am organised with new makes to share, I am able to use this time to get designing new clear stamp sets and stencil designs.

12:30 - 13:30 ish

I take a break, have lunch and do a couple of jobs around the house. It's usually gathering washing, pots and tidying up after The Beans!

13:30 -15:30 ish

This is when I finish up anything I was doing pre lunch and then I check to see if anymore orders have come in before I walk out to the Post Office (rain or shine) to drop them off.

I enjoy my walk out to the Post Office, its nice to get some fresh air and it's also the time I use to clear my head and I often come up with new card ideas and sometimes new product ideas!

15:30 - 16:30 ish

This last hour often is catching up on social media, posting and commenting. The Beans are back from school at this time, so depending on how much I am demand, depends on what I can get done before I am fully present with family and home life.

And of course, my day never runs as smoothly or as organised as this!

It wouldn't be a normal day if I didn't share a card, this is what I made for today.

Sorry, not sorry!

It's more Stencil - Layering Bright Butterflies. I just can't resist inking them up at the moment and they've added cheer to a dull day here in the NE of the UK.

I used Concord & 9th inks today in Pink Lemonade & Carnation, Buttercup & Sunflower, Grapefruit & Sorbet, Sprout & Parsley and Oceanside & Peacock. My sentiment choice today is one from Spring Botanicals Primrose.

That's all I have today. I'd love to know what you would like to see more of from Uniko behind the scenes and or creativity from me.

I'll be back tomorrow with more to share and winners from last months celebrations.

March Meet The Maker - Meet Me - Bev Brown AKA Uniko.

Happy Monday 😃

Today is day 1 of March Meet The Maker 2025 and having followed for quite a few years from the side lines, I dipped my toes in once but couldn't keep up! I decided this was the year to commit and join in on the fun.

Especially as March is looking quieter compared to January and February. Plus, with all the celebrations last month, I gained quite a few new followers. So this is a good opportunity for me to tell you more about Uniko.

Today is Brand Re-Introduction.

So I've called it, Meet Me.

Hello I’m Bev and I am Uniko 😃

I design all the products and lovingly package and check them for any imperfections. Providing you, my lovely customers with top quality, unique and innovative products is my aim. I am pleased to say it is very rare a faulty stamp passes my eagle eyes!

And I do a happy dance every time I’m packing a wonderful order and my heart bursts with joy when a customer tags me @unikoltd when they share a card or creation using Uniko products ♥️

If you message, phone or send an email to Uniko, it’s me on the other end of the line. I am always happy to help and do my best to answer as quickly as possible. If it’s technical related and I don’t know the answer, I have to contact my tech support. AKA as husband 😂 He works full time & so I often have to wait until he’s not busy for his help! Other than him, it’s just me here.

However, I am honoured to have a wonderful team of Brand Ambassadors…

These beauties help me on the blog and across social with amazing creative inspiration 🥰

AND I can’t forget to mention Claire @earlybirdstamps who has been by my side at all the craft shows I take Uniko too since the very first one ♥️

I know not everyone is on social media to be able to tag/share their makes with me. So why not snap a photo and email me instead. The beauty above is by Ruth @ruthgetscrafty on Instagram.

Before I get to todays card, how about 5 things about me you might not know…

1. I love colour and I have an ink pad addiction 😂
2. My favourite number is 3
3. I love cats 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 Jelly (almost 4) and Cali (almost 1) are my fur babies.
4. Chocolate is my weakness, especially Salted Caramel M&Ms and Brownie M&Ms 😋
5. When I’m not crafting or on mum duties to my twin boys you might find me reading a good book. I like mystery, crime, thriller and psychological thrillers 📚

It wouldn't be a Uniko post without some inspiration, so here's what I made today.

I've had this stencilled Layering Bright Butterfly fluttering around my desk since I inked it some time last week! So it was calling to be adhered to a card.

With little time to create before the light of the day faded I put together this really CAS card. I think it took me longer to find the Floral Vines clear stamp set to be able to stamp the sentiment I wanted, than it did to put the card together!

Thank you again for all the wonderful release day orders on Friday and over the weekend. You are all awesome.

Welcome to Uniko if you are new around here 😃

Celebrating 13 Years - Introducing Stencil Layering Bright Butterflies & Re-introducing Bright Butterflies Clear Stamps

Hello & Happy Monday!

Welcome to day 2 of the Uniko 13th Birthday February Release introductions. Today myself and the Uniko Brand Ambassadors are Introducing Stencil Layering Bright Butterflies & Re-introducing Bright Butterflies Clear Stamps.

I had an idea for a layering butterfly stencil, but I was thinking of shapes of butterfly and that got me thinking back to the original Bright Butterflies Clear Stamps originally released back in February 2013. I loved these butterflies and their shapes, so I thought I would super size them and add some more details in the layering options.

So that got me to thinking of how much I loved creating with these cute butterflies, so decided I would re-release those along with this fun layering stencil.

Let's have a look at these in action.

I've literally butterflies with all this wonderful inspiration and I hope you like these new and returning additions to the Uniko line up as much as I do!

Until tomorrow, Crafty Hugs

Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Autumn has arrived!

Hi all,

Steph here with my Uniko Brand Ambassador post for October and given that the weather has now and truly turned, I thought I'd celebrate Autumn rather than moaning about how cold and wet it is! (But I might still moan a bit!).

For this card I have used Uniko I Love Coffee stamp set, just what is needed on a soggy autumnal day! My floral background uses Uniko Beautiful Blooms II stamp set which I think works beautifully in the orange and browns I have chosen for my card.

Using fawn / brown based colours I turned the Uniko English Country Garden - Butterflies into moths for my next card. I stamped the solid butterfly over the background and added one of each the small and large butterflies using foam pads.

My final card uses Uniko Winter Botanicals: Sweet Broom stamp set. I masked a section across the upper part of the card on which I later stamped the sentiment from Uniko Floral Vines stamp set.

So that's my autumnal inspiration to match the autumnal weather (might be nicer if the rain would stop!). Thanks for stopping by.

Much love

Steph x

Two For Tuesday AND a Winner!

Hello!

Happy Tuesday and a belated happy spring. Apologies for myself being quiet here and across social media this past week or so. Before last week I was finalising some exciting products and then I got struck down with a nasty cold/flu bug. A week later and I am just starting to feel better and finally have some energy back.

Anyway, enough of my woes, how about some creative inspiration...

I was inspired to use the Stencil - Cloud 9 as my starting point for my Two For Tuesday and opted for a circle aperture. I used a circle die to create an aperture mask and stencilled the cloud onto my white card layer. I used Altenew inks to get the beautiful ombre look.

To finish I added a sentiment from Up & Away and adhered a hot air balloon using foam adhesive. I then layered this onto my card base using foam adhesive.

For my second card I used the circle from the aperture I die cut for the first card as my cloud focal point. Again I used the same inks for the clouds and I love how you can get different layering looks each time. I find this stencil very therapeutic to ink.

I'm longing for warmer days now and to see those butterflies fluttering in the garden. So for this card I opted to ink and colour the largest butterfly from English Country Garden Butterflies. The sentiment is from our popular Simply Said Blocks. All of the elements are adhered to the card using foam adhesive.

Now before I go, I have been reminded that I forgot to announce the winner from the 11th Birthday Release Blog Hop HERE. Apologies for my forgetfulness and thank you to those who emailed me a reminder this week.

With the help of random.org the lucky comment is...

Alice

Three sweet cards, love so much especially the first one with the fabulous crocus, daffodil and snowdrops!

Congratulations to Alice!

Thank you to everyone who hopped and left comments, they are much appreciated by all of us here at Uniko. We have one more chance for you to win from the 11th Birthday celebrations this week, so be sure to keep an eye on the blog!

Two For Tuesday - Large Background Sketched Foliage

Hello & Happy Tuesday!

I was determined to get to make and share two cards in-between work jobs today and answering emails. So if you're awaiting a reply from me, I apologise, I *needed* to sit and create something!

One of my jobs today was a stock check & website update. As much as this can be a tedious task, it was also a nice reminder of all the lovely stamps I have neglected to use! One that stood out to me today was Large Background - Sketched Foliage.

So I dusted my stamp off and got to inking it up. I had no particular plan or layout in mind and just went with the flow.

With it being a large stamp, I use my stamping tool for this background. For my first card I trimmed a panel of white card to 10 x 13.5 cm and stamped the background onto it. I did mask the bottom of my panel to keep the border 'equal' by eye all the way round.

With using a stamping tool I was able to easily ink the stamp with two colours. I stamped the top with Altenew Olive ink and the bottom with Altenew Moss ink to create a subtle two tone effect.

I think this foliage image is perfect for both feminine and masculine cards. So for this first card I kept it more masculine, simply adding the Happy Birthday sentiment from Floral Vines. I did embellish with a few enamel dots from my stash.

For my second card today I opted for a more feminine design and used just snippets of the background to create a fun focal point.

As you can see I decided to pair the background with the smallest butterfly from English Country Garden Butterflies. I think the sketched foliage is a wonderful backdrop to pair with them.

I inked and stamped the foliage in Altenew Olive ink. I then die cut 3 stitched circles from the panel and used the negative to help me place them onto my card base. The sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks II (available on backorder & due in 24th Jan) and I know so many people coming down with Covid, hence my choice!

The butterflies are stamped, die cut and coloured with water based markers. I then added a colourful second non stamped die cut underneath, securing just down the body of the butterfly. I wanted to tie in the colours I used to colour and also create a feel of fluttering wings.

I hope you've enjoyed this brief look at the Large Background - Sketched Foliage. I am always open to suggestions, if there is a particular stamp set, designer die or stencil you are looking for ideas for, just add them to the comments!
