Uniko Sponsors - Passion For Markers

Hello & Happy FriYAY!

First Friday of the month and the last few days of the school holidays for The Beans. Hence why I have been a little quiet here on the blog. I have been working around them! But it's been mainly admin and packing lovely orders, thank you 😊

So, I am a little late with sharing this, but Uniko is the proud sponsor of Passion For Markers challenge, seen HERE

The theme is New Beginnings and I decided to make a New Year card, simply because it is a New Year and here's what I created...

As you can see it isn't your 'usual' New Year card. So why did I choose the butterfly from English Country Garden?

Butterflies are a powerful symbolism of growth and new beginnings and to me I wanted a simple but powerful and positive start to this new year. Plus I knew it would look pretty in these shades of peach and hint of aqua! Totally inspired by Pantone Color of The Year - Peach Fuzz.

I used Stampin' Up Blends in Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay (Light) for simple colouring to my die cut butterfly. I adhered using foam tape and added a few Oceanside enamel dots around the sentiment from Christmas Sentiments.

There is still time to join in the challenge for your chance to win a Uniko prize. Check out and enter HERE.

Happy New Year!

Happy Monday & Hello 2024.

Today I want to wish you ALL a very happy, healthy and creative New Year. I hope you all enjoyed the festive period and you are looking forward to what 2024 will bring. I'd say we had a quiet festive period & New Years Eve, but can you really with two 9 year olds 🥴😂

I'm learning to sneak away for a little quiet time and making a quick card like this one today...

I've reached for my 'go to' clear stamp sets for New Years cards, Big & Bold Happy and Organic Wishes, which is perfect for fireworks.

I stamped & heat embossed the Organic bursts with sparkly Stardust embossing powder before adding a little colour of Light Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay.

I finished off with the Big & Bold Happy die cut in Grapefruit & White card adhered using foam adhesive, along with the New year stamped & embossed in sparkly Stardust to match the fireworks.

Have a lovely day & I hope you find time to create today.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I couldn't let the day pass without popping by to wish you all a happy, healthy & wonderful 2023. I hope it brings you all you desire.

Did you have a good festive season?

I really enjoyed some downtime with the family and time away from the studio. So much so that I actually had to clear the decks before I could make anything. It actually felt good to give it a good tidy and put things back where they should be!

I felt a little rusty getting inky and other than being inspired by the fireworks last night, plus the Pantone Colour of 2023, Viva Magenta I totally just went with the flow with my card.

I used the Stencil - Party Confetti inked with Concord & 9th Honeysuckle. I then stamped the 'happy' from Festive Sentiments and the New Year from Christmas Sentiments. I then added a trio of bursts from Mid Century Modern Florals.

A little busier than my usual clean and simple style, but I am hoping to venture outside of my comfort zones more this year. And not just when it comes to creating. There are so many wonderful things coming this year following a few doors I opened at the end of the year.

To start though is the first NEW RELEASE of 2023!!

Let's just say, if you love the Mid Century Modern Collection, then you're going to love it. Sneak Peeks are coming on Monday 9th January and the NEW products will be available on Friday 13th January. Keep an eye out on social media, as some little sneaky peeks might just pop up.

Yep, another couple of Happy New Year cards! I couldn't resist using the Pantone Colour of The Year 2022 as my theme again.

I went for a similar layout for this first card to the one I used for BIG & BOLD Merry, HERE. I enjoyed how quick an fun it was to stamp!

For my second card I went super CAS, lots of lovely white space. I also used the coordinating Designer Dies BIG & BOLD Happy.

12 Days of Christmas Giveaways - Day 6

Happy Saturday!

Welcome to day 6 of the 12 Days of Christmas, Giveaways.

If you missed day 1 and you're wondering what this is all about, be sure to check out all the details HERE and you're welcome to catch up and comment on the previous days. You can find links in the right hand sidebar.

Today I finally posted the remainder of my Christmas cards! Yes, I am so behind it is unreal  - haha! I still have the neighbour cards to make as I have run out. But I have an idea of a design I will use to make a few of them.

Anyway, back to today and a Hello 2022 New Year card. I realised I was a little late to be sending Christmas cards internationally, so I have made a few New Year cards to send instead.

I used Organic Wishes for the firework bursts which are stamped and embossed in sparkly stardust embossing powder. Alphabet Outlined contains numbers as well, so it was perfect to use for next years date. I've also used a similar colour to next years Pantone Colour of the Year, Very Peri. The Hello is a partial stamped sentiment from Floral Vines and Happy New Year from our popular sell out Christmas Sentiments.

So today's giveaway* is...

Stencil Sunday - Happy 2021 Balloons

Happy Sunday!

It's a slow, easy & chilled Sunday here at Uniko HQ as I mentally prepare for the chaos of early mornings and the back to school routine! Along with some chores around the house, I have made sure to find a little pocket of creative time in the studio for me.

I often neglect my stencils, so another of my goals in 2021 is to show them some more love. Stencil Sunday's will most likely become a regular feature (again) to achieve this goal ;)

I am continuing my love for the 2021 Pantone colours of the year, mainly because I still had them out on my desk! I remember a few years ago, though it is probably more if I really thought about it, when the yellow and grey colour combo was a big trend in the paper crafting and handmade card community. Do you remember?

As you can see, today I am giving the Stencil - Balloon Bash some inky love. And I am practicing with soft, light blending to the centre of the balloon, to darker edges on the outside. To achieve some depth and life like appearance. I often get heavy handed when blending, even though using blending brushes is a little easier to achieve a softer blend.

The sentiment is from Simply Said Blocks and I stamped the 2021 using Alphabet Outlined, it's one of my favourite 'go to' sets on my desk at the moment!

As I have created a lovely CAS design I thought it would be nice to join in over at CAS on Friday and their Best Wishes challenge HERE. I don't think I have joined in on this challenge before, although I have had them bookmarked for sometime now. Be sure to check it out if you enjoy CAS challenges :)

That's all from me today, it's time for me to get another chore done before the online food shop arrives and then I've the dinner to cook.

Thank you for stopping by and for all the lovely New Year comments & wishes.

Happy New Year!

Hello & Happy 2021!

I hope you all had fun welcoming in the New Year, although it may have been different from other years.

For us it was a (fairly) quiet one. Hubby & I were done at 10:30 and could have easily gone to bed - haha! BUT, I promised The Beans they could stay up late and they set the time at midnight to see in the New Year.

They were more awake than we were at midnight, but although I was ready for them AND me to go to bed shortly after the light show / fireworks on the TV from London, it felt special to welcome the New Year in as a family.

We managed a lay in till 9am, which wasn't too bad and we had a lovely slow and relaxed day. Mainly because everyone is tired!

I am not setting New Years resolutions, I didn't last year. I do however set goals and although the events of 2020 through some of last years to the wind, one that I made last year was to use brighter colours in my creations and here are my colours of the year seen below. I think brighter colours are a little more prominent than last year. I think there is still room for improvement!

Again, I am setting myself personal and business goals. One of my goals is to make time for all the things I enjoy and love doing. And as you have probably guessed, it is to make time to enjoy making cards, stamping, playing with colour and all things paper crafts!

Today I did just that, I spent time making two New Year cards. One I am sharing HERE on the website blog and this one here...

I was packing up some orders yesterday morning and one of the sets was Background Builders Arts Decoratifs. I loved designing this set, yet I have hardly inked it up since February 2020 :( So inking one of the stamp from the set was my first inspiration. The sentiment is a mix of Happy Succulents and Simply Said II.

Secondly I was inspired by Pantone's colours of 2021, yellow and grey. So I used these as my colour combo. The layout is similar to THIS New Year card from 2018!

The remainder of the afternoon was spent making cupcakes with The Beans. They have been requesting to make Goomba and Caterpillar cupcakes for the past few days and with a lot of the treats eaten, it was a good time to make some more!

It's an early night for everyone tonight. Be sure to hop on over to the website blog HERE to see the other New Year card I made.

AND in case you missed it yesterday...

Wishing you all a wonderful, happy, healthy and creative 2021.

See Ya 2020!

 Happy New Years Eve!

My apologies for my disappearance just before & over Christmas. I simply took on too much and got totally overwhelmed before Christmas with how much I needed to get done and then Christmas Day came & went! I have since been enjoying some much needed downtime with The Beans & my husband.

This is a little snapshot of our Christmas Day!

I hope you all had a lovely day even though it may have looked different this year under the circumstances.

As 2020 draws to a close, one of the strangest and another of the hardest years in my 41 years of life, I am looking not to what was bad or hard, but to all that I am grateful for.

I am grateful for...

 good health
my family
to have a roof over my head
for my business

FOR YOU ALL HERE

Thank you for your continued support & custom at Uniko and sticking with me during one of the toughest years. This card is for YOU ALL.

Today after clearing a walk way and an area on my desk, I made time for me in the studio to create this simple one layer thank you card. Apart from the smaller thank you stamps and one which is on the retired shelf, I think I *need* to design some larger thank you sentiment stamps ;)

Though having Alphabet Outlined is proving to be very useful to spell out larger words, which is what I did for todays card. I paired it with the flower from You Are, Yes You and simply coloured with Copic Markers.

That's all my creativity I have to share with you today, but before I go and maybe pour myself a large glass of gin, I have a little discount code for you to use on the Uniko website.

THANK YOU once again for all your support & custom. Cheers to a New Year with LOTS more exciting Uniko products to come your way. Nothing, not even Covid 19 is going to stop me from bringing you more FUN and inspiration.

Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Organic Wishes

Bonjour !

Izzy here and first of all I wish you a very Happy New Year ! Today I share with you some cards I made with the Organic Wishes stamp set.

I took advantage of this time of year to use one of the dandelion stamps to illustrate fireworks ...

... to celebrate the New Year ! I almost used the same design for both cards, with a few small modifications.

For the following card I used the dandelion whose ends are shaped like a heart to make a birthday card...

I stamped the image on three die cut squares in rainbow colours and I foam mounted them on the card. I used the Sentiments Outlined set for the sentiment.

For my last card, I used three of the dandelion stamps, including the biggest one that sows its seeds in the wind...

I made the background with new pearlescent watercolours that I received for Christmas then I stamped and white heat embossed the dandelions. I cut the edges with notched scissors.

Well that's all for me today and I hope I inspired you with this versatile and so beautiful stamp.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous crafty week !

A Look Back At 2016!

Hey!

Welcome back to another 'Look Back At 2016! This year has been an amazing year for myself personally, but it has been a fantastic year for Uniko. We have had 5 fabulous releases, with 16 new clear stamps sets lining the Uniko HQ shelves.

I don't know about you, but to me this year has almost passed by in a blur! With that in mind I thought it would be nice now the main seasonal festivities are over and as 2016 draws to a close, to take a look back at Uniko's 2016.

Apologies for the delay in posting and not posting yesterday, I had little sleep Wednesday night due to a Josh bean having nightmares, poor little fella. Then on Thursday I had to take Mr Cat to the vet and he had an operation to remove his eye as he had a large tumour in it. Another poor little fella that needed my attention and love post op last night.

Anyway, I am back today, I am taking a look back at the September/October 2016 Release and giving some fresh inky love to Originally Organic, Marvellous Mehndi, Simply Said II, Winter Foliage & Christmas Sparkle clear stamp sets.

First up a super CAS card using Originally Organic...

I was inspired by the current challenge over at TIME OUT Challenges HERE, which is an inspired by words challenge.

'With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning'

I thought the sentiment I chose was appropriate and related to the 'new beginning' part of the challenge phrase. I then decided to accent the sentiment with the leaf cluster and a trio of sunny yellow buds to represent the 'sunrise'.

Next I dusted off Marvellous Mehndi...

For this card I got my distress inks out and enjoyed some relaxing ink blending! The sentiment is a mix of 'Happy' from Simply Said Birthday, which is partially stamped and the 'New Year' is from Simply Said II.

Lastly, I switched gears back to Christmas and combined both Christmas Sparkle & Winter Foliage. Plus I really gave my new MISTI a workout on this card.

I love this multi card layer stamping and lining up the bauble was SO much easier using the MISTI! I was also able to stamp the bauble in Altenew Cosmic Berry ink and then stamp over it again in VersaMark to be able to heat emboss it with Crystal EP.

I hope you will join me again tomorrow, when I will be taking a look back at the 2016 November Release and the last of 2016. Until then, thank you for stopping by.

Hello 2016!

HEY & HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I do hope 2016 has begun well for you all and I wish you all a healthy, happy and creative New Year.

We saw in the New Year quietly at home and watched the fireworks in London on the TV, with a hot chocolate then went to bed! So rock 'n' roll these days - LOL!

I also had a little creative time before the New Year arrived and I made two cards to share with you this evening...

First up a 'Hello 2016' shaker card. Again I used the current ColourQ challenge colours seen HERE and below & this time I added in the current Freshly Made Sketches sketch seen HERE and below.

To make my shaker window I used a die from SU! Square Pillow Box collection and the shaker mix is from Little Things From Lucy's Cards. I used Uniko Classic Numbers to stamp the 2016 inside the shaker frame & the 'hello' die is from Mama Elephant die cut in gold CS and mounted over the top of two glittered stripes of double sided tape. You can never have too much glitter & bling to ring in a New Year :)

As I was on a creative roll I decided to make another New Year card, there were a few people I really wanted to send Christmas cards to, but I simply ran out of time. So I plan on sending New Years cards instead :)

This time I went for a mail friendly flat card. I started out by drawing a grid on my white CS layer & stamped the 4 squares from Uniko Classic Alphabet in black ink. I then stamped and heat embossed the 2016 in gold.

Before rubbing out my grid I stamped 'Happy New Year' in the remaining squares. Once all my stamping was dry I erased the lines, added some glitter to the square outlines and adhered a few white heart dome stickers.

Today has been fairly quiet, this morning was spent with the beans just playing with their Christmas toys and me & my husband joining in ;) Then this afternoon I hosted New Years Day dinner for my husbands Mam, Dad & brother which was lovely. The beans love spending time with their grandparents :)

Now the beans are in bed and the family have left I am enjoying some more creative time & preparing my cards to mail out tomorrow. One of my many New Year resolutions is to send more of the cards I make!

Ok, that's all I have to share with you today. I will be back over the weekend (fingers crossed) with more to share, but if not 'normal' scheduling & work will resume on Monday as the holidays are 'officially' over then!

Until then, thank you for stopping by & here's to another FABULOUS & EXCITING Year, with many Uniko creations & surprises ;)
