Adidas Superstar 86 Uprock Sneaker Grooms Cake
Our bride told us her husband to be was fan of all things sneakers and wanted a Grooms cake to reflect that! Apparently his favorite pair are the Adidas Superstar 86 "Uprock", which has a complex graffiti design. A lot of careful hand painting required to replicate the "Uprock" design, but I'm pleased to say I did it, and of course even the shoelaces are edible!
The black Adidas shoe box is made with chocolate fudge cake with Madagascar vanilla bean filling, while the sneaker is yellow vanilla cake with raspberry cream filling.
Delivered to a rehearsal dinner at Bella Napoli restaurant in Kenilworth NJ.

Labrador Groom's Cake
A couple came to visit me together, unusual for a Groom's cake. They wanted me to create a Labrador Groom's cake, a replica of their own pet Marley, for their celebration at the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park NJ.
Inside is chocolate fudge cake with dulce de leche cream, covered in fondant and then painted with edible food spray to get the right color effect. The hardest part as always are the eyes, which I needed to shine and add life to the dog!

Drum Set Groom's Cake
A cake that was a long time in the planning: the Groom was a drummer and wanted to showcase his passion, rather than display a traditional white wedding cake at the reception. So we designed a replica of his drum set complete with cymbals and the Muppet Animal in the background!
We baked chocolate fudge cake with amaretto moccha and salted caramel buttercream, plus lemon cake with strawberry mousse and fresh strawberries. The front of the base drum had a Ying and Yang symbol, while on the reverse side we had the words "LOVE" in a font patented by one of his best friends.
All the drums and cymbals were carefully mounted on supports.
The reception was held at Harborside / Exchange Place on the Hudson River waterfront with fabulous views of Manhattan and Downtown New York.

Cake Fiction was honored last week to be asked to create a cake display to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Oreo. The display matches the special birthday logo developed by the Kraft creative team.

Dora the Explorer and Boots Jungle Waterfall Cake

For the birthday party of a Dora the Explorer fan we made this two tier specialty fondant cake to deliver to Somerset NJ. The bottom tier is red velvet, cream cheese and white chocolate filling, and the top tier has chocolate fudge cake with Oreo cookie cream.
A waterfall cascades down the cake, a large gum paste palm tree and jungle foliage provide the perfect backdrop for a sculpted Dora the Explorer figurine and her sidekick Boots. You can't see it in this view, but the backpack of course has a great big smile!
