Here was a challenge. One of our customers, inspired by Christopher Garren's Opposites cake on Amazing Wedding Cakes, asked us to make a split three tier birthday cake with a sand and sea theme!

We designed a stable base to allow sufficient support for the tilting design, split down the middle. It is covered in edible sand and seashells! The bottom tier is a sand color fondant with flower cutouts, while the top tiers are a blue sea fondant with waves and fishes.

I had fun with this bright and beautiful wedding cake, decorated with piped flowers and an open Orange Peony sugar flower. The cake sat on top of a display of assorted mini-cupcakes, on a wooden hexagonal shape cake stand expertly designed by the bride's father!

The cake is red velvet with our cream cheese deluxe filling, that has grated white Callebaut chocolate. The cupcake selections also included lemon coconut cake with passion fruit cream filling, chocolate fudge cake with amaretto moccha filling and a drizzle of salted caramel.

Rat's Restaurant at Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton NJ has to be one of our favorite venues to deliver a cake. Special thanks to Christopher Carrell for making this happen, and to our special helper who enjoyed the delivery, with an opportunity to tour the picturesque garden setting and fascinating sculptures!

Dr Seuss The Lorax Birthday Cake

The Lorax movie starts today. So we had fun creating a red velvet birthday cake with cream cheese filling, and a matching Cat in The Hat vanilla cake with Madagascar vanilla bean filling to sit on a display of Truffula trees!

A nice way to remind ourselves about the origin of this Dr Seuss fable and to express concern for our environment. Save our Truffula trees?

Suzuki GXR Bike Groom's Cake

This was a tough one, a motorbike cake modeled on the groom's Suzuki GXR. How do you make enough cake to fit inside a motorbike, and keep it standing? I never even rode on motorbike!

Simon started out by building a wooden frame, that would allow us to build up to the seat and leave it overhanging the rear wheel, as well as supporting the front end. Sorry, I was so busy I didn't take a picture of the frame, will have to stay a secret!

Inside is red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. Then we built up the cake with the engine block, fuel tank and seats. A black leather jacket with the groom's personalized 007 logo lays across the seat.

We delivered the cake to a wedding reception at Sterling Gardens in Matawan NJ.

Rubber Ducky Baby Shower Cake

Sometimes I wonder whether the colors will look right. Originally we designed a blue cake for our customer, but settled on a two tier orange and fuschia fondant cake to match her final color scheme, and the cake really pops!

We baked pure white vanilla cake with Belgian dark chocolate cream and red velvet cake with cream cheese filling on the top tier.

The cake is decorated with yellow and green polka dots and a raft of rubber ducks sculted from fondant.

We were going to deliver to a Baby Shower in Chatham NJ, but that Halloween storm (which pulled down a big tree at home) took us instead to Warren NJ!

Pirate Treasure Chest Birthday Cake

My girls love pirates, reminds them of trips to Disney and their favorite movies! So we had a lot of fun carving this pirate treasure chest.

Worked hard to achieve a real wood grain effect with marble fondant, which I then hand painted. The bottom tier is yellow vanilla cake with chocolate cream filling and the top tier is red velvet cake with French vanilla cream.

The cake is covered in chocolate fondant and decorated with edible jewels, cameos, broches, pearls, a flask, gold cross and chocolate coins. Also we painted a map with "x marks the spot" to locate the treasure! And yes, it was all edible. Isn't cake decorating great?

For a party at the Brazilian Grill in Elizabeth NJ.
