Joyeux Anniversaire!

Hi everyone!
February marks the first birthday on my calendar, and I need to start making some cards.
This one is for my son's girlfriend.

I stenciled the background with roses and leaves, using the colors “Picked Raspberry” and “Mowed Lawn.” Die-cut two branches, one from gold cardstock and one from green design paper, and glued them together. Die-cut the words from black cardstock, glued them onto white cardstock, and cut them out along the outline with scissors.

I haven't used an embossing folder in a while, so I decided to get out my brand new one!
I embossed a small corner of white cardstock and placed it directly under the die-cut branches to create a smooth transition to the stenciled area. This also helped to highlight the sentiment nicely.
Finally, I stuck a few enamel dots next to the birthday sentiment, cut the panel to size, and pasted it onto a blank card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Let it snow

Hi everyone!

Waiting is over!
Today marks the start of the very first challenge on our brand new challenge blog

The theme is: Penguins

As the name suggests, this challenge blog is all about little things—more specifically, little cards.
Any card type that is smaller than a standard card (10,5 x 15 cm / 4.1" x 5.9" inch) is okay,
such as ATCs,  ATC coins, tags, Memorydex cards,
Mini Moo cards, bookmarks, inchies, etc.
The variety of card shapes gives you plenty of room to create something that suits your personal taste.

Today I made my very first Memorydex card.
This is something completely new for me and it was so much fun to do!

The Memorydex base consists of two layers of patterned paper, a piece of embossed dark blue cardboard and white glitter paper. The embossed snowflakes on the blue cardstock I highlighted with a white Posca pen.
I colored the penguins, fir trees, and stars with alcohol ink markers, cut them out, and glued them onto the Memorydex. Added a tab in the shape of a cloud and stamped the sentiment on it.
I think the penguin trio fits well with this small format. Hope you like it too :))

Here's a quick intro to Memorydex:

Memorydex cards are approximately 11 x 11 cm / 4 x 4 inches in size. They can be square or more rectangular.  However, there is no specific rule for this. The important thing is that they fit into a Rolodex or a box specifically designed for this purpose.
There are now countless dies in various shapes and sizes, which make it very easy to cut out this type of card. But you can also make them yourself quite easily, without needing lots of craft supplies! Memorydex card tutorial
You can buy a Rolodex, or make a little box to store them. This video shows you how to make a box.

I hope this has been helpful.

Conny and I would be delighted to welcome you on our new challenge blog.

Join the Fun!

Ruff Day!

Hi everyone!

Time for a new challenge at 613 Avenue Create

The theme is: Animal Magic
(create something featuring your pet or favorite animal)
Alternately "Anything Goes"

I love animals, and as babies, they're even more adorable and simply irresistible.
When my eyes fell on this very old image, I knew instantly what I wanted to do with it.

The picture was part of a set of images for a 3D card I made a long time ago for my dear aunt,
who loves dogs more than anything.
The little puppy was the only thing left from the set, and today, over ten years later,
it has finally found its place on an ATC.
The pink background was, in my opinion, a little too dominant—even though I love that color!
So, I added hearts with texture paste, stars with a stencil, and some bits of washi tape. I think that gave the picture a nice balance.
Finally, I embossed a short sentiment, cut it out, and glued it onto the ATC.

Hope to see you play along with 613 Avenue Create

Have Fun!

Grand comme ça!

Hi everyone!
Time for a new challenge at the Dream Factory
Our movie for this month is:

Love Actually
It's actually a Christmas love story,
but we're using it for our first challenge of the year.

So, for the next 4 weeks,
it's all about
Love, Hearts, and/or Valentine's Day!

I'm not really a fan of Valentine's Day, but once a year I can convince myself! Haha
The background of my card is dry-embossed with small arrows and hearts -- hard to see, but it is!
I added a strip of washi tape under the frog's feet als well.
Frog and hearts are colored with alcohol ink markers and aqua markers, cut out and glued on.
The sentiment says: I Love you this much!

Best friends

Hi everyone!

ATC Around the World is looking for snowmen. Here's what I came up with.

The background is from my stash. So all I had to do was punch out a snowflake from glitter cardstock and emboss the saying. Stamp, color, and cut out the snowmen—they didn't need much color anyway.
...oh, and then there also were these tiny snowflakes to stamp!
I used Wink of Stella to highlight the snow, which, as usual, you can't see at all!! Hope you like it :)

Have a Cup of Cheer

Hi everyone!
Christmas is getting closer and closer and I would like to briefly remind you
about our current Dream Factory challenge

Candy Cane Lane
Anything Christmassy Goes

I dry-embossed a panel of blue cardstock and glued it onto a blank card.
I then pasted on the punched-out circle with the cup, which I had colored with alcohol ink markers.
The silver circle, I die-cut from the lid of a cheese package.

Wishing you a wonderful and cozy Advent season!

Thanks for stopping by.
