Freshly Made Sketches 82

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It is, of course, time to reveal the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches designed this week by Jen Brum!

I was very happy that the challenge this week at The Paper Players was one using the soon-to-be retired Baja Breeze because it gave me an excuse to use up some of the pretty DSP from Twitterpated.  And I've always thought that color looks pretty awesome with Island Indigo and Rich Razzleberry.  For the flower I cut three of the smallest flower from the Daisies #2 Sizzix die and layered them together with an Antique Brad in the center.

The ladies at Freshly Made Sketches have cooked up some great designs this week so be sure to head over there and check them out.  I can't wait to see you in the gallery!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Brighter Days (Verve)
Accessories:  Flower Daisies #2 die (Sizzix); Antique Brad (SU)

BE Inspired 23

Today is the BE Inspired challenge over at The Alley Way Stamps blog and this week there is an extra twist!  For this challenge we are joining forces with the lovely ladies at 3 Girl JAM!  For those of you that don't know, 3 Girl JAM is owned and operated by Julie K Bling and her two daughters.  They make hand dyed crinkle ribbon and sell some other fun crafty things.  You can check it all out here.

Your challenge is to make a project using this BE Inspired photo, a stamp (or two) from The Alley Way Stamps and ribbon!  Remember the photo is for inspiration only.  Be creative, use your imagination and show us what this photo inspired you to create. And if you need some inspiration, hop on through the line-up and see all the gorgeous projects the design teams have created.

I took my cues from some of the colors in the photo.  I've always been inspired by earthy colors so it was no trouble at all to dig out Sahara Sand, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze.  I stamped the sentiment from the brand new Words to Live By and to jazz things up I added a pop of Pacific Point and some of the awesome 3 Girl JAM crinkly ribbon in yellow.  This cool layout is courtesy of a sketch challenge I just found called Lucy's Cards that is sadly ending.

I hope you are inspired to join in The Alley Way Stamps and 3 Girl JAM challenges.  Don't forget to check them out and link up your project, because you'll have a chance to win some awesome prizes!  Just hop on over to Scrappin' Madge to continue on the hop!

retro sketches 22 with Dynamic Duos 13

Today has dawned rainy and I figure that's as good excuse as any to spend some time with stamps and ink.  If I'm lucky I should be able to get quite a few cards knocked out today for some upcoming challenges.  First I tackled the newest retro sketch and paired it with the colors at Dynamic Duos.

These earthy colors made me want to do something with leaves.  I've got quite a few leafy sets that I like to use but I chose Gently Falling because it's the one I probably use the least and I wanted to see what I could come up with.  I paired it with some DSP from Woodland Walk and a wee sentiment from Tiny Tags.

This is the first time I've used the new Argyle embossing folder and I really like it.  It's gives a good crisp image without tearing the cardstock and it has an interesting pattern.  I also added a bit of Crumb Cake taffeta ribbon with one of the new Ribbon Slides and I highlighted my leaves with an Antique Brad.

Well, I'm off to recharge with some coffee and breakfast, then it's back to "work" in my stamp room.  Thanks for stopping by!

CCMC203

I love a good challenge and the sketch this week at Create With Connie and Mary was just that!  But that's what a challenge is all about so I dove feet first into this one.  (I didn't want to get too crazy).

I visited the lovely colourQ Compendium for some inspiration and decided on colourQ 32 for my colors of Kiwi Kiss, Groovy Guava, Crumb Cake, Basic Black and Whisper White. I was a bit undecided at first about what to do for the circle, but then I spied the retired Fabulous Flowers in my pile of stamps that I really need to get rid of and thought the big flower from that set would look nice inked up in Groovy Guava and layered on some Basic Black.

My little tag is just some layered Basic Black, Kiwi Kiss and some retired DSP from Urban Oasis.  I added an Antique Brad and some Linen Thread then finished the whole thing off with a sentiment from Something to Celebrate.  I think the colors qualify for man-card territory (in this case Father's Day) and since my father happens to like flowers, I'm not sorry that I added one!

Thanks for stopping by.  I'm pretty pleased with how this came out, despite my earlier trepidation.  And I think if you haven't already done so, you should check out this challenging challenge at Create With Connie and Mary.  Challenges are fun!
