CAS(E) This Sketch Meets Fusion

So today is that day when I show off a card made by blending the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch with the inspiration at Fusion.  This week I was served a coffee theme and since coffee stamps are sorely lacking in my stash I turned to Etsy for help.  And I found a great image!

The coffee lifeline image was easy to print on a piece of cardstock then I stamped some coffee rings on top of it.  Done!  So easy peasy!

Thanks for stopping by! My fellow design team members at CAS(E) This Sketch and Fusion have made some great cards to inspire you so I hope you can play along with us!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Java Spills (Stamping Bella); Coffee Lifeline (BeleCherCreations)
Paper:  Naturals White (Neenah)

Freshly Made Sketches 401

Whew!  That was quite a month we had at Freshly Made Sketches!  We reached our 400th sketch with a small trip down memory lane and capped it off with a brand new sketch and prizes for some of our lucky participants!  So now it's time to get back to business with a brand new sketch.  This week our hostess is Cécile.

I really tried to channel my inner Cécile with my card.  I so admire the way she artfully designs her cards.  She always uses interesting backgrounds and unusual die cuts and each card is a masterpiece.  So I tried to keep my card clean and yet still be interesting.  I gold embossed some coffee rings to add a metallic touch, added some soft vellum leaves, and a bold, yet simple, birthday sentiment.  I'm really pleased with how this turned out!

There are a couple of other challenge I'm playing along with too.  Less is More is looking for metallics and TGIF wants us to use embossing powder.  That's a match made in heaven!

Thanks for stopping by.  We are well on our way to another 400 sketches at Freshly Made Sketches 😳so I hope you'll go along with us for the ride!

Supplies
Stamps:  Java Spills (Stamping Bella); Birthday Bash Sentiments (Papertrey Ink); The Big The Bold and The Happy (Winnie & Walter)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah); Vellum (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Versamark; Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories:  Curvy Leaves die (Elizabeth Craft Designs); gold embossing powder

CAS(E) This Sketch 297 Meets Fusion

I've got another meld of challenges for you today.  It's the sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch as well as some inspiration from Fusion.

Being a wine lover I thought it would be fun to incorporate a wine theme into my card.  Alas I don't have any wine stamps and a search through Etsy for a digital one proved non-fruitful (pun intended)!  So I did the next best thing - a wine ring as the background.  Similar to a coffee ring only purple!

The leaves are fun and the multi-step stamping allows them to be quite colorful.  I chose to keep mine in the yellow/orange range in keeping with the inspiration photo and introduced the wine color in the form of my rings in the background.  Even still I thought something was missing so I threw on a few green sequins.  I spy a spot of green in that photo too!

My new MacBook came on Wednesday and I'm using it to type this post.  So far so good with the PC to Mac learning curve!  I love how cute it is and bonus...I was texting my sister while I was typing this post...so much easier to to with a full, grown-up sized keyboard!

So we've got a great new sketch at CAS(E) This Sketch and at Fusion you can do the sketch or be inspired by the photo or {gasp} both...and create some fusion!  Whatever you decide, I hope to see you in one or both of those galleries!

Supplies
Stamps:  With Gratitude (Altenew); Java Spills (Stamping Bella)
Paper:  Classic Ivory (Flourishes)
Ink:  Autumn Blaze, Orange Cream, Firebrick, Sunkissed (Altenew); Rich Razzleberry (Stampin' Up!)

Freshly Made Sketches 195

Happy Wednesday!  Today at Freshly Made Sketches we've got a new sketch brought to you by Kim.  And while the sketch has got some circles you can, of course, use whatever shape takes your fancy!

I actually did use some circles, in the form of a round splatter and some coffee rings.  The challenge at Can You Case It is to use black, white and one other color so as I was designing this card in my head it I realized I could easily use those images in black then add a pop of something with a bright color.  I was going to use a flower, but came across these stars that hadn't seen any ink in a while so I used them instead.  I love how this came out!

Head on over to Freshly Made Sketches to check out the amazing design team cards.  It's not just about circles over there!

Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps:  Java Spills (Stamping Bella); Seeing Stars (Verve)

Cupcake Inspirations 310 and Surprise Sweetie

A little bit ago I got an email from Nina from Cupcake Inspirations inviting me to be their Surprise Sweetie this week.  Since I love playing along with their challenges there was no way I was going to say no!

Ooh boy, I love this color combo!  I think the lime green is what gets me.  It just makes a fantastic contrast with just about everything!  For my card I created a grungy background using the blue and gray shades then topped it off with the beautiful butterfly.

Special thanks to Nina and the Cupcake Inspirations design team for having me along this week. What a treat for me!  And thanks for stopping by!

Just Us Girls285 GD

For some reason this week at work dragged on forever.  So thank goodness that Saturday is here and I can relax a bit.  I do have to pop in to work on Sunday for a software upgrade but that shouldn't take much time at all.

But for now it's time to share my latest card for Just Us Girls.  This is my third week joining them as a Guest Designer and this week the challenge is to design a project that is black and white and another color of your choosing.  Fun!

Whenever I see a challenge like this I want the third color to be something bright.  I'm particularly fond of how Melon Mambo looks when paired with black and white so I went with that.  I'm also playing along with the sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch.

My coffee stains take the place of the circles in the sketch and I went quite literal with the butterfly.  Although I think that an all black butterfly is a little unusual I really like how it contributes to the bold color scheme.

Well that's it for me.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  And please stop by Just Us Girls and check out the cards from the designers.  I hope you can join us!

Freshly Made Sketches 171

It occurred to me that January was nearly over and that I hadn't made a Christmas card yet.  Well, Freshly Made Sketches to the rescue!  Rita is our hostess this week and that big ol' circle made me think of a poinsettia die that I had.

The challenge at Sunday Stamps provided the colors and at the Christmas Card Challenge anything goes so I thought I'd link up over there as well.

Well I survived the #blizzardof2015 #juno in one piece!  It snowed where I live for nearly 24 hours and left me with a couple of feet of snow.  I can just barely see the top of the bird bath and sundial in my yard so I'm pretty sure there is at least a couple of feet out there.  The snow was light and fluffy (better to shovel) and drifted quite a bit.  When I first went out to shovel I had a drift in my driveway that was almost to top of my car! Fortunately, I didn't lose power which was a real concern with the gusty winds.  But today it's back to business as usual.   Thanks to everyone who sent a prayer and kind word my way!

The Freshly Made Sketches design team have made some amazing cards for you to see so be sure to check them out.  I hope to see you in the gallery this week!

Splatters, Colors and Thanks

The cue card this week at CASology is splatter.  If ever there was a challenge with my name written all over it, this is it!  I love me some grungy splatters, that's for sure.  After seeing that I poked around some and found the gorgeous color challenge at Stampin' Royalty and decided to combine the two.

I've got some coffee splatters to go along with some ink splatters.  And a sentiment die that I cut three times and layered together.  Simple and sweet!

Thanks for stopping by!

Freshly Made Sketches 149

Time for a new sketch from your friends at Freshly Made Sketches!  This week our hostess is Rita who never fails to surprise me with her design ideas and fresh approach to card making!  She's designed a great sketch for us this week and judging by the design team cards, this sketch is amazingly versatile.  Imagine what you can do with that rectangle layer!

I had made a card for this challenge using one of the techniques I learned at the watercoloring online card class, but I was not happy with it at all and decided to scrap it.  So I went back to the drawing board and poked around blogland for a little inspiration.  I had recently seen this beautiful card by Vicki Dutcher and it heavily influenced my redux.  I didn't attempt any fancy pouncing with reinkers to color my background but relied on some grungy stamps to take care of that.  The colors are from the latest challenge at The Paper Players and once I had everything stamped I went over the blossoms with a Wink of Stella pen (which, of course, you can't see in the photo).  It's amazing how that  pen makes everything look better!

The Freshly Made Sketches design team has got some fabulous cards to share with you this week.  We sure hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

Christmas Cheer

I've been lucky the last couple of days to find myself with some extra time so I've been putting it to good use in the old craft cave.  Today I've got a card to share that I made for the inspiration challenge at Festive Friday using the sketch at Cardabilities.

The antique mirror coupled with all that white in the inspiration photo made me think of vellum and the brown from the twigs made me bring in some natural colors so I used Crumb Cake as my card base and added some Chocolate Chip for depth.  Although it might not look like it, the vellum is not an ordinary flower but is actually a poinsettia (my nod to festive).  The sketch made me, once again, lament that I don't own any doilies so I improvised the big lacy circle by using a stamp instead.

This Christmas card may be a bit over the top for some on my mailing list since not everyone will understand why I put images of a coffee stain and some ink splatters with my poinsettia!  But that's what I saw in my head when I found the sketch so that is what I made!

Thanks for stopping by!

Yay!

Whenever I take a little stamping break it seems to take me forever to get my mojo going again.  It took me about two days to make the card here because I found myself wandering around my stamp room without a clear purpose!

In the end I combined the color challenge at CAS-ual Fridays with the sketch from Just Add Ink.  It's been ages since I've participated in either challenge so it feels good to join in the fun.  I'm pretty sure I over-did the orange splatters and I seriously considered doing scrapping this and starting again, but decided to leave it as is.  I wish I had listened to my first instinct!!

The weather here promises to be picture perfect this weekend so I hope to get outside and enjoy a little sunshine on my face.  Summer is winding down and it won't be long before we're all wearing sweaters again so I think I'll try and enjoy these warm t-shirt days while I can!
