Tag You're It 100

Hello all!  Today I am a little combination of happy and sad.  I'm happy because it's time for a new challenge at Tag You're it.  And I'm sad because it is also our last challenge at Tag You're It.

And...I'm happy again because I'm also joining Tracey at In My Creative Opinion with her 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  It's Day 5 and the sponsor is Reverse Confetti so I am pleased as punch to add my tag with my favorite Triangle Trees.

I have an obsession with triangle Christmas trees dating back several years so when Reverse Confetti came out with this set last year I scooped it up right away.  I love that the triangle trees come in different designs - from stripes to dots to squiggly lines plus the set has some great linear sentiments.  All those design elements were perfect for my tag today.  I even re-purposed some RC valentine paper into doing double-duty as Christmas paper!

Thanks for stopping by!  And special thanks to Tracey for inviting me along with her Tag You're It challenge and her annual 25 Days of Christmas Tags.  😁

Supplies
Stamps: Triangle Trees (Reverse Confetti)
Paper:  Solar White (Neenah)
Ink:  Forest Glades (Altenew); Onyx Black (Versamark)
Accessories: Falling Snow stencil (Simon Says Stamp); white embossing paste (Dreamweavers); seam binding ribbon; twine

Tag You're It 98

It's fall y'all!  And our latest challenge at Tag You're It celebrates those special colors and leaves that we only see this time of year! I decided to simplify those leaves from the inspiration photo into one big one.

It's been a while since I've used this stamp set from Concord & 9th and I thought it might be good for this tag.  So armed with colors inspired by The Color Throwdown I stamped the base of this leaf with red and yellow and topped the lace overlay with a brown.

I added a few enamel dots for a bit of dimension and twill ribbon tied with some brown crochet thread completed the look of this card.

Thanks for stopping by!  My teammates at Tag You're It have made some fantastic tags this week so be sure to check them out!

Supplies
Stamps:  Lace Leaf (Concord & 9th); Great Friend (Stampin' Up!)

Accessories:  Traditional Tags STAX, Pierced Traditional Tags STAX (My Favorite Things); Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets, Natural Twill Ribbon (Stampin' Up!); enamel dots (My Mind's Eye); crochet thread

Tag You're It 96

We've got a fun new challenge for you at Tag You're It.  It's a button theme and as luck would have it I've had some button/flower dies in my stash for ages and finally I've got a good excuse to use them!

I liked the pretty patterns on the buttons in the inspiration photo so I combed through my patterned paper stash and found some pretty paper with patterns that made cute buttons!  Then I thought it would be fun to add a flourish background to my tag and strategically place my faux buttons around the flourish.  I actually ended up using quite a few things in my stash that have gone un-loved for a long time so I'm happy about that. 😀

I especially liked this challenge because my mother is a bit of an amateur seamstress.  She sewed when I was a child and taught me some basic skills (which I complemented in high school with some sewing classes).  She's 84 years old and recently started working with a volunteer group that sews dresses that are donated to children in poor countries.  She's become known in her group of seamstresses for embellishing her dresses with buttons, and bows, and lace so I plan on giving her some supplies so that she can continue to do that.  This tag is perfect to add to my little gift!

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Tag You're It design team members have made some fantastic tags for our challenge so I hope you have a chance to check them out!

Supplies
Stamps:  Canvas (Stampin' Up!); Simple Sentiments (Avery Elle)
Paper:  Fine Linen (Papertrey Ink): Pear Pizzazz, Very Vanilla (Stampin' Up!)
Ink:  Fine Linen (Papertrey Ink); Onyx Black (Versafine)
Accessories:  Medium Flourish die (My Favorite Things); Button Stacks die, Button Stacks II die (Papertrey Ink); black seam binding ribbon; black crochet thread

Tag You're It 94

Hi folks!  Today I've got a tag to show you for our current challenge at Tag You're It.  We are in our second week and there's still time to play along!  Our inspiration is all about summer....and flamingos!

I didn't have a single flamingo in my stash so as per my usual off to Etsy I go to find a digital stamp.  I found this cute set that not only had a flamingo but also this palm tree and some other fun tropical images. I tried to use some of the colors from the inspiration and added some colorful circles in the background to mimic the floating balls in the photo.

Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to check out the inspiration at Tag You're It and play along with us!

Stamps:  Tropical (digital stamp from Terevela Design)
Paper:  Aqua Mist (Papertrey Ink); Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight (Stampin' Up!); Lemon Grass (Avery Elle)

Tag You're It 92

I am pleased as punch to say that I am the hostess at Tag You're It this fortnight!  Since it is July and only 159 days until Christmas (!) I thought I'd give everyone some incentive to get cracking on those Christmas tags!

I'm a sucker for evergreens and berries paired with a warm color like the color of the basket in this photo.  So when I sat down at my desk to make my tag I wanted to stay as close to those design elements as possible plus I threw in a little buffalo plaid as well.

I'm still amazed at all the Christmas in July challenges that I keep finding.  So, or course, I joined in the fun!  The colors at Christmas Card Throwdown were perfect for my tag.  And the sketch at Global Design Project allowed me to show off the greens plus my sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow Tag You're It Challenge teammates have made some incredible tags to inspire you so I hope you will join us.

Tag You're It 90

Today I've got a tag to show you that I made for the latest Tag You're It Challenge.  The twist with this challenge is that the tag has to be interactive.  I'm not very good in the "imaginative" department so I relied heavily on the inspiration tag and created a tag with a "floating" snowflake.

The base of my tag is an old favorite color, Baja Breeze, which looks great with silver accents.  I simply punched out a circle in the middle of the tag and filled the negative space with a silver sparkly snowflake suspended on silver cord.  I added a simple Christmas sentiment and a few sequins for good measure and I was done!  I'm also going to add this to the Jingle Belles challenge where they are looking for snow.

Thanks for stopping by.  There is still time to play along with Tag You're It so I hope you can join us in the gallery!

Supplies
Stamps:  Christmas Carols (CAS-ual Fridays)

Ink: Nocturne (Versafine Clair)

Tag You're It 88

It's time for a new challenge at Tag You're It!  This time around we are looking for spring flowers - my favorite!

I love flowers.  I grow them in abundance around my patio during the summer months.  I like nothing more than relaxing on my chaise lounge and being able to smell them while I read or take a nap!  So this challenge was a no-brainer for me.   I used a leafy sprig and some flowers from a couple of ancient Stampin' Up! sets using the colors at CAS Colours & Sketches.

Thanks for stopping by!  My fellow teammates at Tag You're It have made some great tags to inspire you.  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Tag You're It 86

We've got a great new inspiration photo this week at Tag You're It.  It's artsy and moody and inspires us to call out some color.

So for my tag I used a neutral gray background and then added a couple of daisies layered in white with a small amount of gray.  Then for my color I added one more daisy in two shades of purple.  The layout for my tag was inspired by the sketch challenge at Global Design Project.

How will our Tag You're It challenge inspire you?  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Paper:  Smoky Slate (Stampin' Up!); Amethyst Allure (Papertrey Ink); Pretty Amethyst (Fun Stampers Journey); Solar White (Neenah)

Tag You're It 84

We've got a great new challenge at Tag You're It inspired by coffee!  I do enjoy my morning cup of coffee....or two.

I don't have a lot of coffee themed stamps but I do have this to-go cup that has a great sketchy look.  I went digging through my stash of patterned paper to find something that would be good to go along with the sketch challenge at Global Design Project and stumbled upon this ancient SU paper pack.  The design is supposed to be abstract, I think, but those brown ovals looked a lot like coffee beans so I thought it would be perfect for this tag.

I flipped the sketch one turn counter-clockwise but I cheated a bit with the sentiment layer.  After flipping the sketch the sentiment layer should have been vertical but it looked weird to my eye so I placed it horizontally.  Sorry Global Design Project! 😊

Thanks for stopping by!  My teammates at Tag You're It have created some great tags to inspire you to play along with us.  Hopefully we'll see you in the gallery!

Tag You're It 82

We've crossed the bridge into March so that means it's time to start thinking about St. Patrick's day!  Well, at Tag You're It we've got you covered!  Our latest challenge has got a lucky Irish theme!

I was bitten by the gnome craze when I was making Christmas cards last year so I was so happy to find this little Irish gnome that I could use on this tag!  I backed him up with some shamrock digital paper that I found on Etsy.  I used the sketch at Global Design Project for my layout.

Thanks for stopping by!  Our Tag You're It design team has made some great tags for this challenge so be sure to check them out.  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Tag You're It 80

A little over a year ago at Tag You're It Challenge we said goodbye....but not for good!  I'm so happy to say that with challenge #80 WE ARE BACK!

Tags are such fun projects to make.  You can use them as tags on gifts or you can add them to a card front to make a great card.  For our comeback challenge we've got a valentine - love is in the air - theme!

For sure I wanted to incorporate some hearts onto my tag.  I found an old stamp set that had a few heart images with various patterns so I stamped a couple of them in red and pink.  To my tag I added a die cut "love" sentiment and a couple of those stamped hearts along with a sentiment on an angle.  At Time Out Challenges their inspiration photo had a lot of hearts so I wanted to play along with them as well!

It's so great to be back at Tag You're It Challenge!  Our design team has got some great tags to inspire you to play along with us!

Hello Butterfly

I found myself with a little extra time this weekend to squeeze in a little project for a few challenges. The colors at Color Throwdown are wonderfully neutral and when I saw them I thought about doing an old technique that, I think, might be called mother of pearl.  It involves crumpled up cling wrap and some shimmery paint.

Well, fast forward a couple of days and I see that the January challenge at CAS Mix It Up is to use cling wrap.  How's that for a coincidence?  Not one to ignore a sign from the crafty muses I got out my supplies and went to work on this card.

I had a really hard time photographing this tag so that it showed off the colors properly.  I used gray, vanilla, and black but the vanilla disappears and my mother of pearl background looks quite dingy.  One of these days I'm going to hire an actual photographer to come to my home and teach me how to take proper pictures!  The butterfly was actually done in two layers.  The solid bottom is done in vanilla and the top is actually done in vellum and has many cut-out dots.  I wish you could see how pretty this is in real life!  **sigh**  And I included one more challenge.  At Crazy 4 Challenges they are looking for tags.

Thanks for stopping by!

Tag You're It Retrospective

Back on December 8, 2017 we announced that the Tag You're It challenge was ending.  I was so sad to see it end (after 79 wonderful challenges) since I LOVE to make tags.  When Tracey asked me to join the design team way back at #14 I was thrilled to pieces.  I've loved every minute of my time there and as a way to wrap things up the design team has decided that we will each show you our most favorite tag.  Plus I've included a little montage of some of my other faves.

My all-time favorite tag is this little number featuring my favorite super girl.  I love how this girl stands so confidently, arms akimbo.  I gave her some sunny rays and a few lightening bolts as a background because she's a bit electric!

Here are some snippets from some of my other faves.

I really enjoyed making a variety of tags for this challenge:  from cute and whimsical to floral to Christmas.  Each time a new challenge debuted I was challenged to think outside my usual creative box and to use images and themes that I wouldn't necessarily think of on my own.  And I'll always be grateful to my fellow Tag You're It design team members for their constant inspiration.

Farewell old friends!

Tag You're It 78

Thanksgiving 2017 is in the books in the US for this year so it's time to get SERIOUS about Christmas!  Today there's a new challenge at Tag You're It and our inspiration comes from Jessica Frost-Ballas.  Jess has created a tag that inspired me to add to my Christmas stash.

Instead a pink and gold theme I went with blue and silver, but I was inspired by the shading of the background, the snowflakes, and the deer.  I created some falling snow on the background with embossing paste and a stencil and the deer was die cut with some foil paper from Michaels that has a subtle texture to it - sort of like wrinkles.  I find myself reaching for "peace" themed sentiments a lot this year.  With everything that has been going on in the world lately wishing for a little peace seems to be a good thing.

The Muse: ChristmasVisions challenge has teamed up with Tracey McNeely's 25 Days of Christmas Tags challenge and are looking for snow on a tag!  Well here you go!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you are inspired to join us at Tag You're It.  Our design team has created some fantastic tags to get you in the mood so hop on over to check them out!

Tag You're It 76

We've got another great challenge for you at Tag You're It.  This fortnight our tag design is brought to you by Emily Midgett.

I based my tag on the colors that Emily used and also managed to incorporate an animal, a deer to her bear.  I didn't have a stamp that mimiced the pinebough swag at the top of her tag so I improvised with some washi tape (so I could play along with the Stamp Ink Paper challenge), some pine tree die cuts, and a sentiment that is generally in the shape of some swag.  I added some sequins to take up some of that white space.   I'm also adding this at the Anything Goes challenge at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

The stamp and die cut combo that I used here is an inexpensive set that I got at my local Michael's store last year and this is the first time I inked it up.  I can only imagine that I had a coupon or it was on sale for a price that couldn't be beat because I don't usually buy my stamping supplies there.  So long story short, the deer die cut does not match the deer stamped image.  Say what???????  Isn't that the point of having a stamp and die set!  [You might be able to see in the image that the lines of the stamp don't match the lines of the die]  The company that makes these images is a well-established company in the crafting industry and I would have expected that their quality control was a bit better than it is.

Anyway all this in a way to say how important it is to support the smaller "mom-and-pop" shops that are the backbone of the paper crafting industry that we love so much.  I don't have to mention them by name - you know who they are!  Their quality is impeccable and, in my experience, if there is a problem (and those are rare) they are more than happy to rectify it at their own expense.

Ok.  I'm done with my high horse!  It's time to get back to our latest challenge at Tag You're It.  We'd love to see you play along with us so please check out the inspiration from our design team and join us in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tag You're It 74

This is our second week at the Tag You're It challenge after our summer hiatus.  Our tag inspiration comes from Bev - she of Happy Dance fame!  What a fun theme!

I didn't have a bathing suit stamp but I did have this party girl holding a giant glass of champagne.  That's almost the same thing, right?  Actually the dress on this girl is a wide-open, white space so I thought I'd add some black stripes (like the bathing suit) on my tag.  I used a colored pencil and I think I should have sharpened it a bit before "drawing" on my lines because my stripes are a bit sloppy and this girl looks a bit like a jailbird to me!  Oops!

Over at Stamp, Ink, Paper it's an "anything but a card" week so this tag meets that for sure and I almost never remember to check out the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge but this week I did, and as luck would have it, it's "anything goes."

Thanks for stopping by!  There's some great inspiration from the Tag You're It design team so you won't want to miss it.  I hope you'll join us in the gallery!

Freshly Made Sketches 296

This week our lovely challenge at Freshly Made Sketches is brought to you by Jen Timko.  The sketch is square but I used a little poetic license and created a rectangular card.

The colors for my card come from the latest challenge at Cupcake Inspirations.  As I was putting this card together I wondered how a red butterfly would look and I'm happy to say that I like it!  I layered the swiss cheese butterfly top over a vellum bottom and jazzed up the background with some sparkle medium speckles in a champagne color.  I finished off the corner with some Nuvo Crystal drops in place of a paper layer.

My Freshly Made Sketches teamies have put together some great cards to inspire you to join us this week.  I hope we'll see you in the gallery!

Thanks for stopping by!

Tag You're It 72

I always love when Friday comes around.  It's the end of the work week, the start of a little weekend rest and relaxation, and it's also the day when you get to see some new inspiration at Tag You're It.  This month our Guest Featured Artist is Lindsey Larsen and I love the crisp, clean lines of her tag.

I used a big square tag so that I could accomodate that big die cut sentiment and I used basically the same colors as our inspiration tag.  I didn't have an intricate cover-up die so I improvised by cutting a big leafy image and wall papering the front of my tag with it.  Then it was easy peasy to stick on the sentiment and add some gold organdy ribbon tied with a bit of gold cord.   I think I'll put this tag on a cardbase for a quick and easy thank you card.

Thanks for stopping by and there's still plenty of time to play along with us.  Check out all the details at Tag You're It.   I'm sure you'll be inspired by the DT to play along!

Tag You're It 71

TGIF!  That's what I say.  I also say it's time to play along with the latest Tag You're It challenge.  We've got a new format there - one that will give you lots of time to play along with us.

You'll now have four weeks to play along with the challenge and every member of the design team will play along too.  Each Friday there will be new inspiration on the Tag You're It blog and this week it's my turn to share my project designed by our guest featured artist Lindsey.

When I saw Lindsey's tag I knew instantly what stamp set I was going to use.  I kept the same red and green theme and used this old favorite floral stamp.  I also used a "hello" sentiment but I stamped mine in black because I wanted a bit more contrast.

I spent about 15 minutes hunting around my stamp room looking for the red gingham ribbon you see on my tag.  I had a vague idea that I owned some but I wasn't 100% sure.  But I persevered in my quest and just when I was about to admit defeat and give up I found it!  It's an old spool from Stampin' Up! and I don't think that I even used it before because there was still the celophane strip wrapped around the ribbon!

Thanks for stopping by and please pop on over to Tag You're It to check out the latest round of inspiration from our design team.  I hope to see you in the gallery!
