Skate Sleep Repeat - Three Room Studio

Exciting stuff!  Today is my first post as a member of the new Three Room Studio design team and it is also the first day you can purchase this release.  Including this set, there are three brand new stamp sets with one being winter themed with animals and the third with a steaming cup of hot chocolate (or coffee) in the big chair.
For my card, I used Skate, Sleep, Repeat and it is a fabulous skater themed set of clear stamps which includes images of skates, banners and sentiments.  This gal looks like she's experiencing sheer joy as she's skating along.  I can't skate.  You'd think that with me being from the Canadian prairies that I should be able to but I haven't had skates on in years and I was never very good at it when I did so I really admire those who can.
I stamped the image and used a stencil and Hickory Smoke distress ink to (carefully) surround it and then added some die cut flowers.  After masking the words on the sentiment, I cut the words apart and doodled a border around each one with a Copic Multiliner pen.
Be sure to check out the Three Room Studio shop to have a look at the stamp sets, to the Three Room Studio blog, the design team blogs and Instagram.

Crazy Bird Birthday

Hi there and thanks for stopping by.  Also, a warm welcome to my new followers.  Today is a quick post because I wanted to get this card posted before I forgot about it.  The card was for a birthday and has already been sent to the recipient... my memory is good but it's also short!
I tried smooshing again... I have a love-hate relationship with that technique!  I love the look but hate all the paper I waste because I'm never really happy with the splotches.  And of course, I stress that too much... it doesn't HAVE to be perfect and in fact, in can't be perfect so I need to relax about it.
I love this Crazy Bird set and can see it being a set I use over and over and over.  For the smooshing, I used Tim Holtz's Evergreen Bough and Scattered Straw.
Have a great week!

Cheese?

I needed a birthday card and had to make it tonight because tomorrow is 'the party'.  I knew exactly what I wanted to do ever since I bought the Tim Holtz Crazy Birds which I think are a hoot and I also wanted to try smooshing.  I had watched several videos and it looks easy enough, right?  Brother... judging by the pile of paper I've discarded, I'm thinking this card must have cost me about $15 and that's not taking into account the stamp.  I ruined more paper until I finally figured out 'less is more'.  I'm not totally happy with this attempt but overall but I do think it's ok and I am tired.  I'd like to try some more of the technique because there's some smokin' good examples on people's cards.  These silly birds just crack me up with their funny expressions.  The sentiment is computer generated using the Mom's Typewriter font and I added some doodling with a Copic multi-liner.  My guy does have this one wonky eye but after a can full off paper, I'm good with it.
The recipient is 7, a real cut-up and the class clown.  Him and his two brothers will think it's a hoot and I can just about hear their noises now.... little boys and those armpit sounds!
Thanks for stopping by!

A Gem of a Challenge - Something Blue (hard to tell but my cardstock is a dark navy, the bird has blue in it and smooshing is blue)

Winterberry

My card today features one of Purple Onion`s fab images designed by Stacey Yacula.  This little fella is named Winterberry and I think he`s one of the cutest little snowmen around.  Easy to colour with Copics and then I added some little dots with Viva`s Liquid Pearls and a little Stickles glitter here and there.  The sentiment is from the Handwritten Holiday set.  The trees are made using Tim Holtz`s embossing folder and I simply added some green Stickles.
Today is the last day to catch the Black Friday specials at Purple Onion but the 25% off sale lasts until December 10th.  Also, be sure to head on over to the inspiration blog to check out what the rest of the team have created.
Thanks for stopping by!

Jules

Today's card is a bit of a celebration really.  Our granddaughter finally got a pet - she's been wanting one forever so she now has a cat named Veronica.  Don't ask me where she got that name from but it just cracks me up every time I say it.  She loves that cat dearly and is over the moon to have her so I thought I would make her a 'Welcome Veronica' card.  This is Saturated Canary's Jules and I just love this little gal and that dress... didn't we all want a pretty dress and bow when we were little?  I did.

Anyway, I used my Quickutz circle and scalloped circle dies to make this easel card; the flowers are made with the Sizzix Bigz 3D Flowers die and the leaves are a Poppy Stamps die called Lorelai Outline Leaf.  The sentiment is Stamper's Anonymous Good Thoughts collection.

I stamped around all the edges with a little flourish die inked with Tim Holtz's Bundled Sage distress ink, added the pearl dots with a Viva Pearl pen and then some Stardust Stickles on her crinoline and bow.
Some of the Copic colours I used are:
Skin:  E000, E00, E11, R20
Hair:  YR20, YR24, E35, E37
Dress:  YG00, YG01, YG03, G24
Challenges:
Saturated Canary - Good vs Evil (I chose good)
Bearly Mine - Anything Goes
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
