JAI 719: Just Add Colour

 Hi!

Welcome to Friday and the new Just Add Ink challenge. Are you up for it? It's a fun colour combo suggested to us by Kim.

I love that she's selected the gorgeous trio of pinks that all work so well together. The rich green is a lovely compliment to the pinks. Of course, it screams flowers, so that's what I did!

I used all retired products on my card today. The die cut flowers are from Pierced Blooms Dies, and they are popped up over a Stitched Shapes circle die.

The swishes in the background are from the Patchwork Pieces dies. I just used a few of the segments for a fun look. Finally, the sentiment is from Simply Fabulous. They are all products that I love so much, and it was fun to play with them again.

All the same things were used on the inside of the card. I chose to cut the leaves from The Shaded Spruce paper from the Regals DSP pack. The polka dots add some whimsy to the card, I think!

What do you see in this colour combo? We'd love to see what you make. You can add your card to our linky over on the Just Add Ink blog when you're ready. You can also see the other fabulous cards made by the Design Team.

Bye for now,

Tina

CTC 415: Favourite Retiring DSP

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. It's been a while since I've been able to play, so it's great to be back!

This week we are asking you to CASE a project made sing your favourite DSP from either of the current catalogues. There's so many great packs, that it's hard to narrow it down!

I have to say though, that my favourite DSP is the Lovely Linen pack. I love the mix of floral and geometric patterns. They reminded me a lot of tiles or patchwork quilts. I chose this card from page 24 to CASE, as I loved the strips of DSP all higgledy-piggledy in the background. It's a fabulous way to use a lot of different papers from the pack.

While the catalogue sample leant towards the Sweet Sorbet and Night Of Navy papers, I went for the Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent colour ways. I also changed the card to be portrait layout, and only used a single die cut shape over the top, rather than a row of punched shapes. It was a little simpler and cleaner for my tastes.

The DSP strips are 3.5" by 1", and I adhered them to a piece of Whisper White cardstock before popping the whole lot up on the Navy card base. Adding the extra layer underneath gives a bit more stability to the design.

One last strip of DSP was put to use on the inside of the card, along with my retiring favourite stamp set, Simply Fabulous. I will miss both the DSP and the stamp set!

We'd love to know what your favourite retiring DSP is. To play along with us, just CASE a card from the catalogue that uses the DSP and add a photo to our Facebook Group before next Sunday's blog hop. It's that easy!

My lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri is up next in our DSP Blog Hop. I think that I would have successfully guessed which DSP she'd used if I'd been put to the test. You won't want to miss her gorgeous card.

Tina

JAI 648: Just Choose Two

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Just Add Ink challenge. This week it's my suggestion for the challenge. I didn't think it was a tricky one, but it certainly challenged the Design Team. Like always, they rose to the occasion, and I hope you will too.

I've suggested a Choose Two challenge - choose two of water, wall or garden to add to your card. I know that I had an idea of what I was going to make when I made the suggestion, but that idea was long gone by the time I had to make my card. Oops!

scissorspapercard, Just Add Ink, Kindred Stamps Bubble Bath Day, Stampin' Up! Simply Fabulous, Stylish Shapes Dies, Copic Markers

I found the bubble bath stamp during a deep dive into my stamp collection. It's called Bubble Bath Day and is by Kindred Stamps. That worked perfectly for the 'water' part of the challenge. The bath mat was hand-drawn, and then the scene was coloured with my Copic markers.

Now for the wall part of the card - I just used a ruler and marker to draw the lines for the skirting boards and tiles on the wall. LOL, it was only later that I realised that tiled walls don't usually have skirting boards. It's very hard to see in the photos, but I added a little bit of grey to some of the corners of the tiles to add a little shading and dimension. The flower from Simply Fabulous added a few feature tiles to the wall, and broke up the grid a bit.

By the time I get to the inside of my cards, I'm rarely in the mood to colour a full image, so I often just stamp a small section to colour. Lazy, or clever? I'll let you decide, LOL!

That's all from me, but there's lots more inspiration from the Design Team over on the Just Add Ink blog. I hope that you've got some ideas swirling already, and that you can join our challenge by linking up your card on the blog. Which two will you choose?

Bye for now,

Tina

Colour Creations: Soft Sea Foam

 Hi!

Did you miss me? I missed the Colour Creations blog hop! I had COVID, which made me miss the last two hops. The ole mojo went a bit AWOL, but hopefully I've been able to coax it back.

I love this soft, feminine colour combo from Brian King. Soft Sea Foam is our feature colour this week, and I think it works beautifully with the two purples - Fresh Freesia and Blackberry Bliss.

I was so sad to see one of my favourite stamp sets on the retiring list - Simply Fabulous. I use it so much! I decided to pull it out and use it for my card this week.

I used my Stamparatus (another retiring item!) to stamp the sentiment, and luckily that I did, as it did not stamp cleanly the first time.

I stamped the same flowers on the inside of my card, as a nice finishing touch.

Thanks for joining me this week, but please do continue your way around our Soft Sea Foam blog hop. The next stop is my lovely friend, Cathy Proctor.

Cathy is also our wonderful host, so if you find any problems with broken links, just jump on over to her blog, where you'll find a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Shaded Spruce

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week we are featuring Shaded Spruce, a relative new-comer to the SU colour range. Hopefully it survives the upcoming colour refresh, as it's a green that I like.

I thought that this colour combo from Brian King was a little unusual, it's certainly not colours that I would think to put together. It screamed 'floral' to me, so that's what I did.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Hand-Penned Petals Bundle, Simply Fabulous, Stitched Greenery Die, Stylish Shapes Dies

It's been a while since I've played with Hand-Penned Petals, so it was a good choice for my card. I layered the stamped and die cut image over a large Stylish Shapes circle.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Hand-Penned Petals Bundle, Simply Fabulous, Stitched Greenery Die, Stylish Shapes Dies

The Whisper White background was run through my Big Shot with my Stitched Greenery die. I think it works perfectly with the flowers. The sentiment is from Simply Fabulous, cropped with another Stylish Shapes die. I finished off the front with a few retired Iridescent Sequins.

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Hand-Penned Petals Bundle, Simply Fabulous, Stitched Greenery Die, Stylish Shapes Dies

I repeated a lot of the front elements on the inside of my card. It's just as easy to stamp two flowers as it is to stamp one, and it makes such a difference to the insides of cards.

Thanks again for joining me, but please continue your way around our blog hop tonight. The next stop in the hop is my lovely friend, Michele Taylor. I can't wait to see what she's made.

The extra-lovely Catherine Proctor is our wonderful host tonight, so if you run into any issues with links, just jump on over to her blog where she'll have a list of all of tonight's participants to help get you back on track.

Colour Creations: Real Red

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new Colour Creations Blog Hop. This week it's Real Red's turn to shine.

I chose this gorgeous colour combo from Brian King for my card tonight. As I put on my shoes this morning, I realised why. My red sandals go nicely with my Coastal Cabana coloured toenails! LOL!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Adorable Owls, Simply Fabulous, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration

I CASEd this layout from a card I saw on Mary Fish's blog, made by Jennifer Roque of Stamp Camp With Jen. The three strips of DSP are the same, but she used flowers where I used the owls. Speaking of owls, let's not mention that I forgot that they retired yesterday! Oops!

scissorspapercard, Colour Creations, Stampin' Up!, Adorable Owls, Simply Fabulous, Stampin' Blends, Sale-A-Bration

I coloured the owl from Adorable Owls using my Stampin' Blends. You may have noticed that I snuck a little Mango Melody in for the beak and feet. Unavoidable, really! The bow and party hat came from the two other owls, I just fussy cut them so that I could use them on this owl.

Another owl was used for the inside. He looks little nervous to me, don't you think?

That's all from me for this week's Blog Hop. Please jump on over to the lovely Fiona Ryan's blog. I'm sure she's got something wonderful for you to see.

And, as always, if you run into any issues with links, please head on over to the wonderful Cathy Proctor's blog. She will have a list of all of tonight's participants to help you get back on track.

CTC 407: SAB Catalogue

 Hi!

Welcome to the CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. Isn't it a great way to finish off the weekend?

This week we are back to CASEing from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. There's only a couple of weeks left to get your freebies from the catalogue, so don't delay!

My eye was caught by this card on page 9 of the catalogue (ignore the graphic that says page 8!), I liked the fussy cut flowers over the rainy DSP and the black twine bow. I once again decided to use Favoured Flowers DSP on my card, and adjusted my design accordingly.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Favoured Flowers, Simply Fabulous, Sale-A-Bration

The grouping of flowers that I fussy cut seemed to be upside down when I had them at the bottom of the panel, so I flipped the panel to put them at the top. Much better!

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Favoured Flowers, Simply Fabulous, Sale-A-Bration

I really love the geometric designs on the flip side of the floral papers. This layout is a great way to feature them - either as a subtle background, or a bolder edge around a panel.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Favoured Flowers, Simply Fabulous, Sale-A-Bration

Some scrap DSP and another fussy cut cluster of flowers finished off the inside. Once again, the flowers looked better at the top. I like to shake things up every now and then!

We'd love for you to play along with us this week, by CASEing a project from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. Just add a photo to our Facebook group and you're done!

Next up on our hop tonight is my lovely friend, Judy May, with what I'm sure will be a gorgeous card. You won't want to miss it!

CTC 406: Love and Valentine's

 Hi!

Welcome back to my blog for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we are asking you to CASE a love or Valentine's project from any of the three current catalogues.

There's a lot of projects to choose from, especially in the Mini Catalogue. I found this card towards the back of the Mini on page 74. It shows some of the carry over items from the pervious Mini Catalogue.

I really liked the grouping of three houses with the layering underneath. I don't really make love cards, so I decided to make a birthday card instead.

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Simply Fabulous, Favoured Flowers SAB DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Brick & Mortar 3DEF, Sale-A-Bration

I recently received some of the Sale-A-Bration Favoured Flowers DSP, and decided to use some of the flowers instead of the houses. I roughly cut the flowers and then glued them to Basic Black cardstock before fussy cutting. LOL, I just realised that I've left off the circular layer. Oops!

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Simply Fabulous, Favoured Flowers SAB DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Brick & Mortar 3DEF, Sale-A-Bration

The layers of flowers and DSP were adhered over some Blackberry Bliss cardstock, dry embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3DEF. The position of the leaves on the larger flower didn't suit my design, so I snipped them off and repositioned them. The DSP makes this easy, as there is a deep shadow in the design that makes it easy to snip the leaves without leaving evidence of them around the edge of the flower. I hope that makes sense!

scissorspapercard, CASEing The Catty, Stampin' Up!, Simply Fabulous, Favoured Flowers SAB DSP, Stylish Shapes Dies, Brick & Mortar 3DEF, Sale-A-Bration

I used a partial flower from the edge of the DSP on the inside of my card. The sentiments are from Simply Fabulous, one of my favourite stamp sets for sentiments.

We'd love for you to play along with our Love themed challenge. You don't actually need to make a love card, just use one as the basis for your card, as I have done. When you've made it, just add a photo to our Facebook Group.

For now though, please do continue your way around our blog hop. There's lots more love inspiration to see, starting with my lovely friend, Rachel Palmieri. Her card is gorgeous!

Bye for now,

Tina
