CTC #284: CASE The Die Bundle Section

 Hi!

Thanks for joining me for the new CASEing The Catty Sunday Challenge Blog Hop. This week we are looking at the Die Bundle Section of the Annual Catalogue. I love this new section of the Catalogue, which shows the stamps and dies, and another sample for Inspiration.

After flicking through the section, I settled on this card, made using the World Of Good bundle. I softly chose it, as it's been a while since I've played with it.

I quite liked the stripes down the side of the card. I realised I haven't ever used the stripy die in the bundle, so I used it for the stripes instead. BTW - does anyone know what the die is meant to be? Some sort of ruler, maybe? I cropped two thin strips of Misty Moonlight cardstock using the die and then adhered some Brass Foil to the back so that it peeped through the stripes.

The centre section of the card was made to be an Easel Card, sort of like a Center Panel Easel Card. These are usually made to be landscape orientation, but I thought that portrait suited the globe a bit better.

The compass image is stamped on Whisper White, punched out and then layered on another circle of Brass Foil. I didn't want to pop it up, so that the card would sit better when closed, but it wasn't high enough to hold the easel open, so popped up it is!

I didn't specifically make this card as a Father's Day card, but looking at it now, it would be great to give to a dad on their special day. It would also work as a masculine thank you or thinking of you card.

That's all from me for tonight, but the fun is just starting for you! Check out pages 173-179 of the Annual Catalogue, make your card and pop it up in our Facebook group. Done!

There's plenty of inspiration still to be found though, so don't forget to finish the Blog Hop. Next up is the lovely Sandra, with her wonderful card.

Lost Lagoon On The Open Sea

Hi!

Today I have a card for you that uses some of my most favourite retiring products. The very top of that list would be the World Map background stamp and the Lost Lagoon In Colour. Sigh. It's always a bittersweet time when favourites retire.

This card was actually a bit of a CASE of one of my own cards from nearly a year ago. You can see the original card here. You can see I've stayed with the World Map/Gorgeous Grunge combo for the background, but this time I've stamped some images from The Open Sea over the top.

I think the sentiment from Butterfly Basics works so well with the card. It reminds me of an old fashioned script, rather like you'd find in a Captain's Log!

I'll be featuring cards with retiring products for the next few weeks - I have plenty in my 'To Blog' folder and I want to show them off before it's too late!

World Map and The Open Sea

Hi!

Is it just me, or are the World Map and The Open Sea stamp sets the perfect pairing?  I use them together lots.

This time around I've also paired them up with Gorgeous Grunge (splatters on the map) and Butterfly Basics (sentiments).

The colour combination of Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Real Red and Whisper White is fabulous for a male card.

Do you find making male cards easy or difficult? I must admit that if I have no set card to make I usually tend towards the feminine, but I do enjoy making masculine cards too.

My Convention Swap

Hi!

I thought I'd sow you the card I made as a swap at Convention.  I didn't end up making many of them as there were quite involved and heavy on the layers.  I was really pleased with how they turned out though.

I tried to stick to products that were carrying over into the next Annual Catalogue as I wanted to be able to use the card as a display card in the future.

I really loved the touch of drama that the black matts add to the card.

As usual I decorated the inside too - which is unusual in a swap, but I wanted to do it anyway.  A card doesn't feel finished anymore unless I decorate the inside too.

Stamps: World Map, Dictionary, Gorgeous Grunge, Memorable Moments, Sassy Salutations
Ink: Jet Black Stazon, Pacific Point, Garden Green, Sahara Sand
Cardstock: Basic Black, Sahara Sand, Very Vanilla, Watercolour Paper
Other: Big Shot, Circles Framelits, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Banner Punch, Cotton Ribbon, Aqua Painter, Silver Mini Brads, Sponge Daubers, Dimensionals

Bye for now,

World Map Birthday Card

Hi!

A bit of a break from the Christmas cards tonight.  Instead I have a card made for my uncle, who has done a bit of travelling lately.

I recently purchased the World Map stamp set, and this was my first play with it.  I stamped it on watercolour paper with Stazon ink and then watercoloured it.  I coloured the oceans in Marina Mist, trying to make it darker around the edges than the middle of the ocean.

For the land areas I coloured the whole thing first with Summer Starfruit and then coloured around the edges and anywhere else I thought should be green with Wild Wasabi.  I was going for an atlas looking map and I think I got pretty close!

I finished off the inside with the compass stamp from The Open Sea, a great companion set to the World Map!

Have a great week,

Bye for now,

Tina
