Scrapbooking with Steph - Paige Taylor Evans - Diagonal Stripes background

Hello all and welcome to this weeks blog post!

So I found this lovely background cutfile searching under Paige Evans in the Silhouette Store https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/219450?search=diagonol+stripes+background&sortby=relevance&submitted_search=true and cut it out of textured card on the textured card stock setting passing through twice and then trimmed it down to 11.5 x 11.5 inches.  I flipped it over and covered the back with foam risers before backing the whole piece with another piece of textured card stock (this time a pink piece!)

I found a sheet of colour block card in my stash which I gutted to create a 1" boarder and attached my backed cutfile onto this.

I put that to one side whilst I fussy cut lots of circles from a Maggie Holmes paper and again placed this on foam risers before sticking them to the cutfile.  I had some chipboard frames, one which I put my photo inside and the other I popped under it to give the layout more depth.

I attached a few more chipboard accents. With the buttons I added floss bows before sticking them down and lastly I added my two titles "Embrace Life",a pink plastic perspective saying "Fierce" and some enamel hearts to complete the layout!

Thank you very much for reading! Please if you scraplift we would love to see your work :) please tag us on our Instagram page silhouette_uk!

Until next time....happy scrapping!!

Scrapbooking with Steph - Be Brave - Paige Evans cutfile

Hello Scrapbookers and welcome to this weeks layout!

So I started with this lovely photo of my wonderful parents on my Mum's 60th birthday. My Mum is the bravest person I know...she has been living with cancer for the last seven years and is fighting it every day so when I came across this lovely cutfile from Paige Evans https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/279010?search=brave&sortby=relevance&submitted_search=true and along with the photo it was a page asking to be made!

I cut the file out on my favourite diamond Bazzill cardstock on the Cardstock Textured Heavy setting and passed through twice to ensure every line was cut perfectly!!

I backed the file with a piece of gold embossed card but left out the star "A" shape and popped my photo behind this instead.

I gutted a piece of mustard yellow paper leaving an one inch border. I used white mixed media paste and a blossom stencil and pasted all over the pink and white gingham sheet of card. Once dry I trimmed it down to an 11 inch square and then stuck them together and machine sewed round the edge in gold thread.  I placed the cutfile down to the bottom area of the page and then fussy cut some pink roses out and slid them under the cutfile.

I added a small embellishment cluster to the top right hand corner with the words "Be Fearless" and some sequins.  I then added some thickers so the layout would read "Be fearless, be brave, be you" and then a few more sequins, some hearts and lastly a wooden button!

Well I hope you have enjoyed this weeks layout...if you decide to scrap lift I'd love to see what you make....please tag me on the silhouette UK Instagram page or on my personal page stephanielouise123.

Wishing you a lovely week and happy scrapping...

Scrapbooking with Steph - Hoppy Easter 12 x 12 layout

Hello all crafters and welcome to this weeks blog post!

Soooo I started off with my product of the week....a washi tape sheet and then found this delightful cutfile in the store https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/120065?search=easter&sortby=relevance&submitted_search=true I cut the words out on flat white card stock and the bunny and the eggs out of the washi tape paper (ensuring I changed the material to the washi tape paper setting)

With the main body of washi tape paper I gutted it with a one inch border, I backfilled the letters with the leftover washi and finally cut two pieces of the wash tape to 2 x 3 inches to use as photo mounts.

When making this layout I started with the top right hand corner and clustered together my photo and the washi tape 2 x 3 cut outs, another 1/2 x 4 inch piece of the turquoise washi, some rub on embellishments, a sprinkling of glossy dots a rosette and a wooden button once I was happy with that I stuck it all down.

I then created another small embellishment cluster in the top left hand corner before adding the title "Hoppy" between the two clusters.

I felt the layout needed some more washi so I added the bunny to the bottom left and the eggs to the middle as well as some more rub-ons around the letters to complete the layout.

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog post......until next week and if you decide to scraplift this layout we'd love to see what you come up with, please share and tag us on the below Instagram addresses.

Sunday's with Steph - Paige Taylor Evans Butterfly Cutfile

Hello Crafters Steph here and welcome to this weeks blog post!

So today I used the following cutfile featuring a beautiful butterfly cutfile by Paige Taylor Evans https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/267051?search=paige+evans+butterfly&sortby=relevance&submitted_search=true I loaded my mat with Bazzill basics diamond card and cut it out using the material setting of cardstock, textured heavy 80g and on two passes as I usually do.

I used the rest of the card I hadn't used to smooch some paint onto the card in peach, pink, lemon and flicked it with gold. Once dried I backed the cutfile with the painted card and then painted some cut off pieces of card solid gold before backing the body of the butterfly with this and popping it to one side.

I used another piece of Bazzill basics textured diamond card and cut it down to 11 x 11 inches.  I gutted some orange patterned paper I had and attached them together so I was back to a 12 x 12 inch square.

I attached my photo to a coordinating piece of paper and put it down towards the bottom of my page in the centre ensuring that there was enough room for the butterfly to fit onto the righthand side of my layout which I attached using foam risers.

I then attached lots of lovely sayings along the central column of my layout along with some enamel dots and love hearts.

Finally I added a small embellishment cluster to the top left hand side to complete my layout.

Thank you so much for reading my blog today.....until next week, happy crafting!

Design of the Week - Bunny Ears Props - 16th April 2019

Hello, hello - Karen here with my Wednesday post.  This week the free design is called Bunny Ears Props and I think it is meant to be printed out and sticks added so that you can use them as photo props.  I thought I would add them to a photo of my lovely Kiera as props!

I didn't have any gray or pink card to cut them out so decided to make the design into a print and cut.  I set the cut lines to 'No Cut' and added a 0.05 offset.  I then found a title in my library and decided to make that into a Print and Cut design too.  Again I set the cut lines to 'no cut' added an offset and filled the design with pink.

As I was going to print out the props and title I had a look in my library for a print and cut embellishment to add to my page and chose this one.

 https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/58728

I like to have a border on my page and we all know how much I love my sketch pens so chose this bunny card as the basis of my border.

I removed the dotted line and resized it to .75in tall and then replicated it and moved it so that there was a slight overlap, and repeated until I had six groups of rabbits.

I then made them into a compound path and merged them.  I replicated this around all sides of my page, merging them once I was satisfied with their position. Next  this design (x3), was added above and below where I planned on putting my title.

I printed all my elements onto a piece of A4 card and cut them out.

Once everything was prepared I cut a slit around Kiera's head in the photo to enable me to slip the bunny ears behind her head so that she appears to be wearing them.

I then placed the nose onto hers and my 'Funny Bunny' was ready to add to my page.

Design of the Week - Sketched Foliage - 2nd April 2019 - Manipulating Sketch Files

Hello, hello - Karen here with my Wednesday post.  This week the free file is called Sketched Foliage.  My little heart jumped for joy when I saw it as, more than anything, I do love a sketch file.

I decided to challenge myself to make a scrapbook page only using sketch pens and sketch files!  If you haven't used sketch pens before I would really recommend you give it a try.  There is a huge selection here. I must have every Silhouette pen available and use them all the time.

I will start by saying this is a fairly long blog post!

I started by manipulating the Sketched Foliage file by ungrouping it.

Next I rearranged three of the sprigs of foliage to form a plant shape. I simply dragged the far left and far right sprigs to meet the bottom of the second from left and deleted the one that was next to that.

Now I had my 'plant' for the bottom of my page I reduced it to 2ins tall and used the little green circle to turn it slightly to the left.
I drew an 11 inch square and centred this to my design space. I then replicated my 'plant' four more times and evenly spaced them at the bottom of my square.

I then decided that I wanted to make my page into a scene and choose three more sketch designs to add.

I started with the grass border and replicated it along the bottom of my page just below the plants.

I then  used the Eraser tool to remove the section where the grass joined the square, on both sides and deleted the bottom of the square so that the grass now formed the bottom border.

I added the tree to the left and the border to the top right (to represent the sun) I ungrouped the circle border and removed the circles.

I then used the knife tool to cut along the sections on the left and right and top right where the designs overlapped the border.

I added this frame and used this sketch fonts to write my title and journaling.

The final step was to change all the sketch lines to the colours I wanted to use - quite a big task but well worth the time it took.

On the Send panel I choose 'Line' which then bought up all the colours I had chosen.  I was then able to select each colour and insert the appropriate pen.  You will see that I set my speed to 1 when using sketch pens - this is so the pen has a longer contact time with the cardstock and you get a better drawn line.

Because I already had the design made I reduced it to 5 ins square, removed the journaling and title and added a sentiment and then had the makings of a really quick Birthday Card.

I hope this inspires you to have a go at using sketch pens.
