Valentines Scratch Giftcard

Hi everyone. It's Verity here with my first project for you all. I had some technical difficulties with my computer - seperate from using my Cameo, so I haven't been able to bring you a project until now. Today, I am showing you how fun and easy it is to create a scratch-off gift card for your Valentines.

Scratch-off gift card details:

First of all, you will need to design the gift card. Based on the size of the envelope I was going to use, I created a gift card measuring at 4" 3/4 X 42 3/4. I used the Heart Frame for each of my scratch-off areas. This needed to be made into a compound path in order to add a gradient fill (2). To do this, I just highlighted the outer and inner frame, and right clicked to select make a compound path. If I hadn't done this, it would have filled both the outer and inner frames with no inner aperture (1).

I used Fearless font for the main text on the gift card and Miss Molly font for the body of the text. To add a little more interest, I used one of the hearts from the Frame set and positioned this multiple times over the card. This was printed out on to plain paper, as I wanted to mount this onto silver cardstock.

Now I had the main basis of my gift card, I was able to create the scratch-off shapes to cover my 'gift' areas. I selected the circle shape and drew whilst holding shifting over one of the areas.

To speed up the process and to prevent different size circles, I cleared the gift card design to one side and replicated the circle 6 times with the Replicate panel.

These were then cut from the Silver Scratch-off Sticker Sheets using the cut settings stored in the studio. However, I suggest doing a test cut before your proceed to a full cut as machines can vary slightly. These were peeled off the adhesive backing and stuck down over the gift areas on the gift card.

To finnish this gift card off, I wanted to encase it in a coordinating envelope. I used the Hearts tiny Flap 5"x5 envelope and embellished this with a 'Love is all you need' Die cut, and some sequins and Nuvo drops to match.

I hope you enjoyed this post and inspires you to reveal you Valentines gift in a fun way this year.

Until next time,

Verity

Functional Stamps Using the Silhouette Mint™

Hi! Bev here with a Silhouette Mint™ tutorial.  I love using the Mint for any stamps that I would like to mark reoccuring events in my planner.  This one for example. Work is a word I am over using at the moment, so it seemed appropriate to make a stamp for it.

What you will need:
  • Silhouette Mint™ Machine
  • Stamp Sheet for Mint
  • Silhouette Mint Inks
  • Scrap Paper
Step One

Open a fresh page in your Silhouette Mint™ Studio and select the size stamp you would like to use.  I chose the smallest stamp which is 15mmx15mm.

Using the text tool, type work in your chosen font.  I used Miss Elizabeth which is available in the Silhouette Design Store.

Choosing the scale tool, select the wording and click on 'Fit to Stamp'.  This will ensure your wording is a perfect fit to the stamp and no parts will be left out.

Once you are happy with your stamp, click on the leaf motif in the top right hand corner and send the image to the machine.  Feed the stamp sheet into the back of the machine and wait for the magic to happen.  The software flips the text automatically so there is no need to worry about that.

Remove the cardboard surround and peel the black sheet away.  Remove the paper from the white stamp block and attach the stamp to the block.

Using the ink, apply liberally to the grey area of the stamp and wait for a few minutes to give it a chance to sink in

Take a scrap piece of paper, stamp away the excess ink until you get a clean impression from the stamp

The stamp will be good for 50 or more impressions before needing to be re inked.

I have really enjoyed sharing with you and can not wait to see what stamps you come up with!

Homework and Reading Stickers

Hi! Bev here with a project for some little stickers to help mark in my diary when my daughters reading and homework is due.  I really enjoy creating stickers and as a planner girl I find them so useful for marking things down and also use them for memory keeping.

What you will need:
  • Silhouette Cameo® or Silhouette Portrait®
  • Silhouette White Sticker Paper
  • Printer
Step One

Open up a fresh page in your Silhouette Design Studio and set the page up with registration marks, cut and print lines.
Import the file in from your Silhouette library and ungroup the componants.

Delete all of the elements that you will not use (I kept the pencil and the stack of books).  Using the text tool, select a font and write Homework and Reading.  Resize the wording and pictures and select no cut in the cut settings

Select all parts of the design and press the offset button.  Reduce the distance around the design and group the design together.  Set the outline to cut.

Repeat this with the other icons and replicate on the page so you have multiple stickers filling the sheet.

Draw a rectangle around the designs and change the outline colour to a different colour than the stickers.  This will allow you to use the advanced cut settings and kiss cut the stickers and fully cut the outer box.  This enables you to keep all of your sticker sheets the same size.  I go more into depth on my tutorial here

Send the design to the printer and cut following the cut settings in the link above.

I can't wait to see what stickers you come up with and I am so happy to share this with you.

Little Lunchbox Notes

Hi! Bev here with a little lunchbox note tutorial, inspired my my lovely friend Sofie.  Recently her son has started to take a packed lunch into school and she popped a little note in his bag.  I thought it was such a cute little idea and decided to do the same for Poppy but personalised ones using the Silhouette Cameo®

What you will need:
  • Silhouette Cameo® or Silhouette Portrait®
  • Printer
  • Paper
Step One:

Open up a fresh page in your Silhouette Studio® and using the elipses tool, create a shape 3x2.5 inches.

Add your text and select the colour scheme.  Set the text to no cut as this will just be printed.

Once you are happy, use the replicate tool to create a page of the same design.  Next, change the colours of the other notes, to add a bit of variety to the notes.

Send the file to print, and load onto your Silhouette mat.

Select your cut settings for paper and send to the Silhouette.

Your notes are then ready for your messages! I can't wait to see Poppys reaction when she comes home tomorrow.

I have loved sharing with you and can not wait to see what you create!
