Very rough sea in the east easing. West of Farewell Spit to Hawera: Long period southwest swell 3 metres rising to 3 metres. Northerly swell 2 metres developing. Elsewhere: Westerly swell rising to 2 metres. Poor visibility in rain, with possible squally thunderstorms.
