Crafters Companion Blog Challenge - Ribbon/Twine

Hi Everyone

How amazing are those sweet treat boards...........  i just love them.  I've only demoed with them once but watched Claire too at Colemans a couple of weeks ago and some of the things you can make for gifts is fab.

So with another Crafters Companion challenge coming up for December i though it would be perfect to add some ribbon both faux card and real ribbon to my gable box.

So I've used the Sweet Things board for this box and followed Sara's you tube clip to follow so i got it right.  The card i have used is black crafters card adn then some patterned card from my stash.  Its from a 12 x 12 " pad from First edition Noir et Chic, i love it and it only comes out for special occasions.  I think i am going to make some hand made chocolates to add to this one.  The card bow is made using a template from the Sweet Treat CD and is so easy to make and lots of different sizes.  I've then stamped a Just for you sentiment from the Love is all you need sentimental stamp set and then matted onto a die cut using the Chantilly Frame die set.  The to complete I've added some black organza ribbon.

There's still time to take part so pop over and enter............  what have you got to lose.

And now to some pics from mine and Leanns London trip.  We had such a fab time but unfortunately she needed to jump of the train at Peterborough instead of coming all the way home with me as she has shows on create and craft.

Lots of drink, food and shopping with a fab show thrown in too, Jersey Boys.

Photo: Bottoms up!!!!!

Photo: More drinks !!!!

Photo: Had a fab dinner with Leann Leann Craggs Chivers

Photo: More shopping!!!! Only been in one shop!!!! And these are all mine!!!

Photo: Well I waited patiently!!!!!
And then a piccie with Jake Wood from Eastenders aka Max Branning.  He was sitting next to me in the theatre.

Hope you like it.

Martini Girl

Hi Everyone

There's a brand new Crafters Companion launch coming up this Friday on Create and Craft, I've just checked the schedule and its still a secret so I'm still sworn to keeping it confidential sorry.  Although i have seen some of the cards made by the DT and they are as stunning as ever.  I'm sure sneak peeks will start soon so watch this space.

However, i am so far behind with my colouring and card making that i am still two launches back and at my demo's i have been colouring the gorgeous Frou Frou range. So here is one below i made for the Spectrum Noir Blog.  I new my first one would be Martini Girl and i think she has been the most popular.  i could so easlily have made another 6x6 card but i felt like a change and went for an A5 pop out card made on my Ultimate pro.  The papers are from the Frou Frou CD and i printed two designs onto the reverse of Centura pearl card to make a sturdy base. Ive used my spectrum noirs as usual and all colours are listed on the srpctum noir blog.  Ive used the Dahlia quilling die to make the two flowers and the ribbon, pearls and sparkly centres of the flowers are all from the frou frou embellishment  set.  The die on either side is lace Border 9.

Ok so now i am off to pack for a 1 night stay at the Inn on the Lake in Ullswater, for a lazy sunday and bank holiday Monday before i get back to work on Tuesday.  So looking forward to just chilling out............  Ooo and my first chance to use my lovely toiletry bag that Margaret Brown made for me, it has my name on and everything! Not a good photo i know but i'm in a hurry.

I'm sure i will have some photos to share with you when i get back.

Hope you like it and all colours for the card are listed on the spectrum noir blog.

Crafters Companion Challenge Blog January - Anything but a card

Hi Everyone

And hello 2013, my first post of the year.........  Its time for the Crafters companion Monthly Challenge blog and this months theme is anything but a card.  So get your thinking caps on and get crafty with all of your CC goodies.

I've decided I've had enough of Christmas today and thought i would go for something really fresh and spring like so yellow and purple it is for Mothers Day.  This gorgeous Morehead Stamp is coloured with my Spectrum Noirs and i have made a trinket/gift box that i found while mooching on blogs.  so here is the link for the tutorial.  It was so easy to make with my Ultimate pro and boxer board.  I've coloured with spectrum noirs and then used papers from the Morehead CD printed onto white centura pearl card to construct the box as its a really good weight.  The inside box is only printed on the matt side of the centura pearl and the inside is left white.  The cover of the box is printed on both sides and i have placed the pearlescent side to the inside for the cover. I've added gingham ribbon and two flowers made from quilling dies, small sunflower and small camelia and then added brads to the centre of each.  The sentiment inside is just typed on my pc and then cut using one of the diesire tags.

I've added some roses from my Christmas choccie stash but you could add anything you like  jewellery  candles, a scarf  the list is endless.  What I really wanted to make was a baby version with rolled up little socks and vests etc but i didn't have any of these ling around.  Wouldn't this be fab for a new baby gift?  and don't forget it will be very easy to change the size to accommodate whatever you are giving as a prezzie.

Quite plain and simple but very effective i think.

Hope you like it and don't forget to take part to win a fabby prize.

My new obsession.........

Hi Everyone

well i am officially addicted to making boxes.  i made these 3 yesterday and i have loads of other beautiful papers and card that would look stunning made into boxes...........  but what can i do with all of them???  fill them with chocolates, sweets, candles all sorts of gifts.

As if i didn't have enough card i bough this pad from graces craft shop on Saturday and its a First Edition paper pad, Noir et Chic.  I love the colour combo.  It was only 9.99 so a bargain for 48 sheets of 200gsm card stock.  I am sure you will be seeing more of it very soon as there are lots of stunning designs.

this time i have used the Ultibox board and the heart shaped box.  I thought I should progress onto this as its a little more difficult than the oval but still easily achievable as its the same technique.   I never had any A3 card or paper so i have joined pieces together with my collal all purpose glue and i really thought it would make it difficult joining pieces but it worked fine.

Hope you like them.

Craft Punked Blog Challenge

Hi Everyone

The Craft Punked BlogChallenge today is anything goes so i thought i would share a box i made, which is a change from the cards i make.  I have made this using one of Crafters Companion new boards, the Ulti box board.  I have made it out of kraft card and matted with some polka dot paper i bought in Belgium but i think you can find it it here in the uk,  its dovecraft i think.  I've then wrapped around some cream lace and decorated with a memory box die and used my spellbinder dies bitty blossom.  I am not really a cut and glue type of person and colouring is my favourite but i fancied a bit of a change.

I may even use it to put a Christmas gift in!!!

Hope you like it.

Spectrum Noir Color-a-Long

Hi Everyone

Well i promised to share photos of my travels to Holland and here they are.  I made a card and box to share with all the lovely customers i met in Holland and Belgium and they all thoroughly enjoyed having a try out with the Spectrum Noirs.  I've added my finished card and box below and then some photos of myself and Margaret   We had a fab time and i really missed Margaret when i went to Belgium.

I've used my Spectrum Noirs of course and the Swalk  Little madam image.  The backing paper is from SWALK CD 2 and iv'e used the colouriser to darken the paper and match the turquoise perfectly.  This really is a darker card than i would normally make as i normally like pastels but i really did enjoy colouring this with really deep colours for a change.  I've also coloured the white ribbon with the turquoise Spectrum Noir and the gems too.  Then added a scalloped tag from the Diesire range.

This is the tutorial i prepared and you can download it from the Spectrum Noir blog as a Colour-a-Long.

Of course i had to include a photo of a windmill.

Hope you like my photos and pop over to the Spectrum Noir Blog to have a go.

Crafters Companion Monthly Blog Challenege

Hi Everyone

its time for a monthly Crafters Companion blog challenge and as its Crafters Companion's Birthday week in October we decided on a theme of Birthdays.

Sooo......  i decided to use some older products and newer products to celebrate the years that CC have been with us.  My all time faves are SWALK stamps and i used this image while in Holland and Belgium in turquoises so i decided to have a go with vibrant reds.  I coloured this in between my Spectrum Noir workshops and i wasn't too happy with the result and was going to throw it in the bin. However Margaret had a quiet time while i was teaching my next workshop and she made it into a card without me knowing and look at what she came up with.
She used some plain coloured card stock and embossed lines using the Ultimate Pro on the matting and layering and then chose ribbons to match.  I think she did a brilliant job and i was amazed, especially seeing as though it was going in the bin.  Then I've added the smallest Scalloped Tag from the new Diesire range of Crafters Companions Dies to finish it off.  I've not listed the colours i have used as i really can't remember but i only had the six packs of Spectrum noirs with me so they are all from those.

I have also started to organise my stamps and dies too, using the new storage system from Crafters Companion and i just love it.  Everything is neat and tidy all in one place where i can find them and i cannot wait to get more and sort all of my goodies out.  At the minute they are just in boxes getting messed up and it takes me hours to find anything.  No wonder i haven't enough time to fit everything in.  This is one of the larger binders but there are smaller ones too and i have used the magnetic sheets for dies and there are inserts too  for stamps.

Hope you like it and don't forget to pop over to the blog and take part.

Drawer Card, Fairyopolis

Hi Everyone

I've been busy with my Crafters Companion ultimate pro and the advanced construction technique dvd   I used to be a plain 6x6 inch card maker but since using the ultimate i cannot stop making things.  I love it.  For anyone out there please let me put your mind at rest that i never always felt this way and it was really just about me using it more and more and becoming more practised in using it.  it really didn't tkae me long though just a couple of days of trying different things.

Today i have made a drawer easel card from the DVD and also used an image from the Fairyopolis Decoupage packs.  The background paper is from the fairyopolis 12x12" paper pad  and they are all stunning and compliment the fairy images perfectly.   I just love fairies and have done since i was a child.  My older sister and i had the original books and used to copy the fairy drawings and colour them in on Sunday afternoons.

The card used to make the drawers and flowers is coredenation all in the family, grapes.  I have embossed the card using the ultimate pro embossing board springtime sweets and cupcake treats and if you have seen some of my other posts you will see it is a favourite of mine for the flowers you can create. The two matting and layering circles are from the same board and again were very easy to do and i have distressed the card with the sand it gadget.

The only extra things i have used are some purple ribbon and some brads for the drawer fronts and for the flower centres.  The tag is embossed form the same board as the flowers so no need for more expensive die cut templates.  The with love sentiment is also from the fairyopolis range, fairyoplis 6x12" rub ons .  i gave up trying rub ons a while ago as they never seemed to work for me but again the quality of these from CC is fab. It worked first time.  Oh and nearly forgot I've used iridescent spray and sparkle on the fairy wings but the photo doesn't do it justice.

Hope you like it.

Sweetie card

Hi Everyone

Been busy with making my orders of tea light cards and 6 down 6 to go. So i thought i would make an alternative to a tea light card and substitute the candles with sweets.

This card is on the Crafters Companion Ultimate Advanced Construction Techniques DVD and of course i used my Ultimate pro and boxer board.  Sara's instructions were so easy to follow and of course once you have the card done you can decorate it how you like.  I have chosen the Birthday Girl stamp from CC's Humphrey's Corner stamp range and used a sentiment from the Chocolate Box set from the same range.  I have coloured the image with spectrum noir pens and used centura pearl for the base card and backing paper.  The plaid paper is from the Humphrey's corner crafting collection cd..  The papers on here are just fab and go with lots of other images and not just the Humphrey range.
This is the inside left quite plain and room to add a personal message.  Sorry for the wonky pictures but after i had took them and realised i really didn't have time to redo them.

On the reverse of the card i have added a stamp from the Birthday Girl set and i think it just adds the perfect touch to any card or project.

Hope you like it.

Hexagonal Box and Humphrey pop up card

Hi Everyone

Ok no colouring at all for a few days, just so busy with work  So I'm adding a box I made a couple of weeks ago for my ultimate demo day and am also adding a card grace made last Sunday as she really liked mine.

The box i made with coredenations card stock from crafters companion, in fact everything i have used to make this box is CC apart from the glitter on the flowers.  I embossed the flowers on one of the ultimates embossing boards and 3d'd them as the lovely Claire Hamer showed me.  I loved the effect and knew i would use it on a project as soon as she showed it to me.  Its very simple, just emboss a flower shape, sand it to get the distressed effect on the coredenations and then cut from one edge of the petal into the centre, overlap one petal over another and glue.

I've used collal gel to glue everything as its also good as a flat glue and also embossed the edge again using the ultimate, cut round to achieve a decorative edge and again sanded it.

And the card below is one of Grace's, she loves the Humphrey decoupage and she did everything on here.  She built the decoupage image and chose this one because on the Humphrey POW, Leann said hello on the show with Nigel and then Nigel got Grace mixed up with a cat.  Grace was not amused at this but loved it when everyone was shouting hello to her.

As you can see everything is not perfect, a fe wobbly lines and the matting and layering is not perfect Just as  mine isn't.  I obviously explained to grace where to score the lines while reading from the booklet and helped her a little with the folding but after that it was her.  She chose the colours too from the cd.  The whole card is 100% CC, centura pearl, corednations, Humphrey decoupage and backing paper from the cd and collal glue again.

Thanks for looking,

Louise and Gracie xx

Boxer Board

Hi Everyone

No new cards today as I've been out this morning with Grace my granddaughter and it was boring housework this afternoon.  I took Grace to see Sara at Northallerton today to watch her demo in store as Grace wanted to show Sara some of her spectrum noir colouring.  Sara really made grace feel proud of her work and Grace was chuft to bits.  Hope you managed to make it too if you live close by as she was fab.  She had already decorated a box with a crackle effect and then used Sheena's paint fusion using the Ivy stamp and she was demonstrating this technique.  It was really gorgeous she is a talented lady.  Then she moved swiftly on to my favourite piece of kit the ultimate pro and quickly wowed everyone with how quick and easy it is to make  shaped cards as well as the easier folds.   Anyway Grace's diary didn't allow us to stay more than an hour as she had a party to get to so a bought a few bits and bobs and left Sara with her admiring crowd.

So no cards but i thought I woudl share with you the boxes I have made for the cards i have been showing over the past week.  The board was so quick and easy to use for making a number of boxes one after the other and i think it is fab.   Especially when you have cards that are quite deep, like the pop out and shadow box card and also with chunky Flowers on.  I loved making and decorating these boxes.

Hope you like them..............

All Hand Made

Hi Everyone

Rather than printing, colouring, adding bought flowers, embellishments and using my cuttlebug, today i thought i would make a card from scratch from materials i have.  So i have started by making a 6x6 in card from Centura Pearl and matted and layered with coredenations.  I have used my ultimate pro from crafters companion to emboss the matting and then sanded it.  I know it would have been easier to put this through my cuttlebug but i wanted the background to match the flower embellishments exactly and how easy this is especially if you haven't obtained a die cutting machine as yet.  I've only had mine for about a month as i had to save ups and sometimes i think its good to look at a project and know you've made everything yourself and not bought the items.

I've embossed and cut out the individual flowers using one of the score boards and layered each flower up with different tones of coredenations and again sanded these. The middle part of the flower i have added pink glitter but on the photo it looks silver, must just be the light as it does match in perfectly.
I've also made the corners myself by using a corner flower punch and then finishing them off by using part of a circle punch.  Hope you like it as much as i do.
