Industrial Bird House

I picked this bird house up today from Aldi for a fiver.

I prised the door and the starfish off the front.

Next I covered all the sides with an industrial style paper.

I cut up a sheet of rhinestones on a mesh background into various shapes and stuck them on the back and the two sides.

I took the roof off and covered both sides with air dry clay.

I pressed different embellishments, tiles and found objects into the clay and I left some of them in to create different textures and interest.

I added clay to the bottom of each of the sides and the back underneath the panel of rhinestones.

And again pushed found objects and embellishments into the clay.

I gave everything a coat of white gesso and once dry a coat of green paint. I used PaperArtsy Tinned Peas.

I added shades of yellow ochre and raw umber with water to the project and kept drying between adding the different colours.

Then I knocked it back a bit by re-apply the green but with a dry brush effect.

Next I added some waxes, aged brass, gold and silver.

I added some carmine for a rust effect and then started working on the top section of the bird house.

Once stuck down, I gave them a coat of gesso.

Then I painted the sides with the same green and umber and ochre paints.

Added the same colours of waxes.

Feet added and studs to the roof.

Altered Key Ring and Envie

Over on a FB group I've joined we were sent a key ring to alter and then send on to our swap partner. I went very simple just using raspberry and sail boat blue alcohol inks on the frame, cut a printed image out and left the front panel clear.

This is the back.

And of course I then needed an envelope to send it in. So reaching for one of my many gelli plate prints I made this envelope and stamped and doodled over it to create some interest. PaperArtsy have a theme this week of mail art, so I'm entering the envie.

Mail Art Money Envies for Christmas

As luck would have it, I needed some Christmas money envelopes for my niece and nephews and it just so happens that over on the PaperArtsy blog they have a theme of mail art.

Oriental Surprise

Another play with alcohol inks. Blew the watermelon and pitch black inks around on the glossy card with a straw. Stamped the oriental images from PA onto white card and used the leftover pieces of acetate to cover them to add colour.

Another entry for the PaperArtsy challenge.

I took a sheet of acetate dripped drops of alcohol ink and blew it using a straw. I used sailboat, raspberry and sunshine. The blue dried really quickly, hence they didn't spread as well. The images are stamped directly onto the tag and I cut the acetate out to sit on the top. I used double sided tape to stick it down and also used an eyelet in the hole at the top to help secure it further.

Again I'm entering into the PaperArtsy challenge.

Postcards

I'd more or less forgotten what to do with these, I haven't used them for so long, but over on the PaperArtsy blog they have a new challenge of alcohol inks / pens, so I got mine out. I used raspberry, sailboat and citrus on glossy card and moved the ink using the Ranger distress ink spritzer. Using black stazon I stamped the TH images and once dry outlined parts of the images with a white sharpie pen.

Black and White with a splash of Red

Stamped the background in various Tim Holtz script stamps. Stamped the Dina image and the heart on separate card and cut them out.

Another Tim script stamped down the right hand side and a strip of tissue tape down the middle of the other side. Butterfly coloured in festive red distress ink.

Both tags side by side.

PaperArtsy have a theme of fonts and quotes this week, so I'm entering my tags.

Fat Pages

I had a little play today and made these five fat pages. Fat pages are 4" x 4" squares. The photo isn't very good as it's been dark and raining all day.

But each of the pages has a quote or some kind of script so I'm entering them into the PaperArtsy challenge.

Mail Art Envies

I decorated some DL envies to send my bookmark swaps in. I used stamps from Seth's solar system set in coloured stazon and a variety of word stamps using black stazon.

And these are the backs. I lightly brayered the fronts and backs with various colours of paint.

The new theme over at PaperArtsy is fonts and quotes, so I am entering this post.

More Bookmarks

I made this set of bookmarks in exactly the same way I made the previous two sets, using the die cut shapes, the tissue paper and the cut out images.

There are 7 of us playing in the swap and I am sending to everyone, so I needed a couple more to be able to send everyone a couple, so I decided to take a different approach and ended up with these, which I am entering into this weeks PaperArsty challenge of squares and grids.

Oriental Card

Carrying on with the squares and dies I made an oriental card.

Close up of the Seth die cuts, the LP stamped image and the butterfly.

Oriental Adventure

I've carried on with the oriental theme, but I also wanted to incorporate some of my new birthday presents, ie Seth's dies.

Close up of the stamping and the die cuts, top left panel.

The cross bar die with a Lynne Perrella PaperArtsy stamped image.

Cherry red, blood orange and little black dress fresco paints brayered onto the die cuts and oriental script paper backing.

Oriental Tag

I've got a couple of days off and wanted to play oriental as I've not done so for ages! The background tag is brayered, a die cut was added to the top and some red fibres.

This is one oriental stamp, I stamped it twice and cut four pieces out and mounted them on 3d foam over the relevant squares and added a bit of colour with a red pitt pen.

Another Male Card

As I was on a roll and had lots of dies left over and the left over bits, I decided to keep going and make another card been as I will need one for November.

I used a blue sharpie pen to doodle with, outlined the shapes and added a few dots. The circle off cuts were stamped with ultra marine blue stazon and the Seth stamps.

I also stamped some of the circle images onto the background piece too.

I'm also entering into the PaperArtsy blog challenge this week.

A Couple of Male Birthday Cards

I needed a couple of male birthday cards for later this week and I thought Seth's dies would be perfect for that male touch. Layered up lots of shades of fresco paints in blues and browns. Lightly stamped some of the images in Seth's solar system set in blue and brown stazon. I coloured the brown set of dies with french roast and the blue set are actually double embossed using blue wow powders, I don't have any in brown!! But, can you spot the deliberate mistake probably not on the photo, but on the right card, I meant to put the die cut with the 'x' on the bottom and the drips over the top, but I stuck the drips one on first by mistake!! Not to worry, it still looks okay!!

And I'm also sneaking these into the PaperArsty challenge this week.

Journal Page

I wanted to use the 'waste' from the Seth die cuts in some way, so here's what I came up with.

Added the eyes from another image and swapped them over!

Added some dots and doodling.

Whitened the eyes and the teeth and gave her some luscious lashes.

PaperArtsy have a theme of die cuts, and I'm entering my page.
