Yes. We happily went to Elizabeth Quay. Again. Together.
I hated this!
It felt like Perth tries to copy Sydney and Perth does not need this!!!
I do not "hate" Sydney - nice people there! I went by myself, even took public transport, by myself (believe me, it is overwhelming!). Ingo was trying to sell our car in King´s Cross in 1995 and I took a day off.
There was or is a traveler car market there.
Had no clue how to get to Circular Quay and just asked people, got tips where to go and put my paper-map away, cause... just ask the friendly people!!
But... but... I feel more like a "Perthie" and did not see why Perth seemed to want to be as "fancy" as Sydney!
... hopefully... and very soon... of... oh, very sad. I found a video on FB, a Ukrainian soldier with a sunflower that grows and blends into a whole field. A sign of hope.
Not allowed to embed.
OK, no sunflower with a soldier then.
Instead let us go with respect this way:
Oh, I owe you this, too!
Saw it the first time in 2006 - it was meant to be "temporary".
I still have to check all movies I took, but some Saturday soon I hope to have "my" Magpie on!
I had pukka peppermint & licorice tea from Madeley in it.
And that´s my ticket for Elizabeth´s T. Here are some fun facts (also... that Aussie/UK-accent - oh, do I miss that!):
The journal:
Monday: It´s cold. After the Magpie-tea it was Rexi´s turn.... Spring?
Sent a pic of the cuppa - fK: "What do you mean with Magpie - the program?"
It gets scarier - her "wife"/girlfriend just started with a program named like that!
Tuesday: TV-morning-news: Australia and EU made a deal in... Can-ber-ra. OUTCH!
Yes. not Sydney ;-) The Capital, Canberra...
I remember 1995 when a man asked where we head to next - I said that and he grumbled very loud, "that´s CANBRA!!!!" Warwick is Warrick and Cockburn... Coburn. In case count the stops on Transperth online first!
Wednesday: The
gas boiler-man was here on.the.dot (German, eh) and kept whistling and
singing on the job! I said the thing sometimes makes noises - "well,
means 'she' is at least still alive" - so great when you love your job! Offered a drink, nah he just had and sent him off him
with a fiver (€).
The thing making the noise? A Perth-hanger.
fK called. Nice chat. I.am.not.lonely.
I´m done editing all my Perth-photos. Now next I´ll have a look at Ingo´s. With movies I have a funny number: 1.234!
Not so funny: Feel sick.
Thursday: The
chimney sweep was here.
Checked extra close as I said, only
yesterday the boiler got checked.
Reported all is OK. Who thought of
that.
Wow, am I glad we´re home. Cyclone Narell heads towards Exmouth and might turn into a class 5, that is the highest category with winds up to 200 km/h or more. I remember the ranger and his dog there...
Up north in Karratha caravan parks get evacuated. For Denham predicted category 3. She might hit Perth, "only" with flood risk. All events get relocated, postponed or cancelled. Scary... Other a lazy, sick day.
Friday: Bro called :-)
1C / 33F. Was grocery shopping (on foot) - for over an hour my feet and legs were still cold. Spring??? Sitting with three layers on - inside and am still cold.
Ingo gave me a "new" DVD-player he "found" at work, so I can watch again. Got back to "HAVEN".
Still sick, asked Ingo for help. Got tablets, plums and ... flowers! The latter as in:
Hihi, note the brolly in the postcard to the left? It says "Schietwetter", a slack saying for bad weather, coming from "shit"...
Because...
My Dad was an optometrist and hence named me "Iris", Mom thought it´s about the flower!
So I had it combined. Ingo was on my Mom´s side that day!
(mM: "Be glad your Dad was no heart-surgeon, your name´d be 'Aorta'...")
But mainly I got the flowers because...
All things crooked end up here - they need a home, too, right? And Gerbera are one of my favs!
Weekend: Saturday: Ingo´s Dad called, I peek in, Ingo sleeps. FIL: "It is 4p.m. - who sleeps at this time?!" LOL. Finished the book "Braunschweig in the Middle Ages".
Forgot to take the pedometer but, after having been sick did so many chores and groceries, that was more than 10 000 steps - felt good! (Teddy on the laundry is fine!)
Sunday: Löwenzahn, Die Maus and the Fairy Tale - a day of rest.
