Wednesday's Words on a Friday

It´s another time River´s prompt speaks to me. And when we go from her hometown to Perth via train I might see some wild ones...

This week's words/prompts are:

1. camel 2. bone 3. carving 4. application 5. river

and/or:

1. journey 2. shock 3. family 4. crown 5. colours

Here is my true, dumb story:

I once rode a camel.
Because my then-boyfriend wanted us to do that.
Just this week I was at my doc. He is ten years younger than me.
He recently was in Cairo, too, just like me in my early 20s.

Back then we had the chance to visit the pyramids as they were, one of the last people, a week later they closed for "renovation".
The last money went to the darn camel. That was a huge shock for me, boy, was I angry.
The last journey I went on with him, no... I gave him another chance and it was as bad.

My doc visited the now empty pyramid, the treasures, the crown, the bones are now in the museum, the carvings still there.

My "application" to leave sad dumbhead came later, I had to cross a river of betrayals first.
My family never liked him, sad I didn´t trust them (my Bro sadly followed my footsteps, it took him too long to leave a sick relationship).
Glad my life now shines in brighter colors!

Wednesday's Words on a Friday

I think again I can join River´s "Wednesday's Words on a Friday".

This week's words/prompts are:

1. consider 2. rather 3. superstitious 4. paraskevidekatriaphobia 5. table

and/or:

1. bigots 2. different 3. gender 4. hyperbolise 5. teeth

Also included is Charlotte's  colour of the month Dahlia Yellow.

So here goes:
Reading River´s promts I thought I must consider if I can join or rather not.
Am I superstitious? Well, I admit, I am happy and lucky the pre-owners took all the trouble and peu à peu threw out the icky carpets and got real wood in! Room for room, hall, also.

So ... it is soooo wonderful in summer to run around barefoot!
And when I say, "this bad did not happen for a long time - knock on wood!" - I can do that and it´s "real"!

My Mom was a truly stubborn person and hence to no surprise she had an anti-Triskaidekaphobia position.
When everybody was whining, "owwwww, it´s Friday 13th again, be careful!", Mom always stated it was her lucky day.
So. Every Friday 13th I think of my Mom 🥰. I miss her truly. Actually I always cry a little every time. With a fat smile. Just like right now.
Will send Bro a WhatsApp, too.

My Dad at the table was not one of the bigots, but close your mouth when chewing! And no loud food like chips, crisps, whatever you call them were allowed at the TV! A different gender, Bro or I, made no difference.
I was never good in math, so to  hyperbolise is none of my Dahlia Yellow.
And darn it.

River, did you do this on purpose???
It all went so smooth with your prompts, word by word! Did you talk to Ingo over this?
Yes. I have to get out of your prompts-line and admit... I still have made no app with my dentist.
But I take great care of my teeth

Henry 🦁

Fridays 13ths are my lucky days, too - always get an extra-cuddle (I just look like made of stone).
Happy Friday 13th!

Words for Wednesday

I came back home late today to find River´s "Wednesdays Words on a Friday" have changed to "Words for Wednesday" and I can even join.

This week's words/prompts are:
1. "that's not a good idea." "I know, but it's the best bad idea I've got."
and/or:
1. fire 2. rose 3. time 4. coins 5 peanut butter 6. shouting
Also try to use Charlotte's colour of the month which is Antique Pink for September
use either list or both, or mix and match, just have fun.

So here goes:
Today at the workshop "Introduction to rail vehicle technology I" I learned that if a train catches fire it can still drive up to 15 minutes to reach a safe place for evacuation.
I certainly panicked and thought, come end of January next year... taking the ICE to Frankfurt...  "that's not a good idea.", but then "I know, but it's the best bad idea I've got."!

In panic I asked the lecturer if we can still run to the next cabin if we happen to be in the burning one.
And that is why a train never is over-filled, so it can take the people fleeing in.
He clearly lives in a theoretical world - how about in your place???

The other day I saw the very super-coolest tram - and left my cam at home for shouting out loud !
WILL NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN (chances are high I see this tram again - wish me luck).
It had the groovy theme of the coolest time ever - the 1970´s - all over, with more than a rose in Antique Pink!

I remembered we "once" bought peanut butter - likely with no coins, as we use credit card mostly. It was... like Vegemite, nothing we liked! But kept it for in case I find a hearty recipe for it. And then of course forgot about it...
Went to search for it, put it on the induction-field for a good pic (very pro with my hand in it 😉).

Whilst typing a shouting from Ingo, "you bought peanut butter again?!!"
Certainly not.
"Peanut (our squirrel that I feed walnuts after learning peanuts are not good for them but the name stuck) will not like it", Ingo added.
Reckon we can still try the "butter" or does it go to the bin?
If you have a non-sweet, yummy recipe (with meat or such), please share.

Also I learned today... if you see the vehicle driver run...

Henry 🦁

It means he had to activate the emergency brake and a collision can very likely not be avoided!

But 100 Years? (Time Runs)

I think I didn´t post this yet, our dear host  sure knows where it is, as she took us there, and more is to come (it´s near Queen´s Garden, Perth).
See a sign for Tom´s come Wednesday.

Ingo said he got a bit teary upon this post - we should´ve been there two times since then already and I am afraid some have forgotten upon us entirely already.

Why is the driver wearing a mask? Reckon it´s the dust!

"Back then" no one thought of COVID and now?...
With that and the new job... we cannot make it to Perth.
Shoot. I dreamed the work week was on yesterday already.

We are in a race. In a silly race. In an unnecessary one.
Our tram is running on the rails in Frankfurt, but we need to deliver the documentation, which is difficult as we work very international.

And some other day soon I´ll bring her and you a bit of Schoduvel, the Braunschweig carnival, if you like.

Our host was at a funnier one and for her and Erika´s Red I share this quicky:

I had these for an "art-project", but never knew where to put them, so I simply sketched them, lying on my very badly turquoise painted table, Sami sure would freak out upon. I spare you a pic of the whole thing...

OK, no I admit...

It´s kinda blue. More or less.

Henry 🦁

Yes, Henry, stay calm and give us another CHANCE (see mural above)!!!

How Life Goes... Words...

After reading River´s lovely story on " Wednesday's Words on a Friday" featuring Khoral Kai again my mind was pondering and I can tell a (true) story, too.

This week's words/prompts are:
1. love 2. happiness 3. chocolate 4. single 5. dinner
and or:
1. hate 2. sadness 3. lemon 4. attached/double 5. breakfast

Here goes:

It was P´s Birthday. 2002 or such.
She baked muffins. Chocolate, and maybe lemon in some, too. Sweet.
For breakfast at work.

Can you imagine my happiness, when I found some PIZZA-muffins she baked - just for me but I shared with those who could not believe something like that even exists!
I didn know, either!!!
That´s when your friend loves you, right, you get the "extra"!

Low-carb recipe here (with video, so you don´t need to know the German language).
I have to use this one twice: Love.
She got married, Ingo and I even learned to dance for the occasion.
Our pressie:

Some money-shirts on a mini laundry rack Ingo built from chopsticks, and a small boat, too.

She never wanted kids but then ... double...  two girls!

She even had so much confidence in me she went to take a loooong shower, leaving me with the twins when they already could crawl!!! Meeep, help!!! (all went well).
One of them was very  attached to my zipper, a fascinating thing!
Dinner was fun, too with them, by golly!

Her Hubby.
His heart was sick, he took medicine, lived healthy.

My friend was directly at VW,  I was but external.
When the Diesel-affair hit my VW-project was cancelled and I went to "my" company internally - YES, no more driving to Wolfsburg, WALKING to work it was!!!

But, what Ingo also told me of others... VW is a family and I didn´t belong no more...
I hated to lose a friend due to this. But she quit contact.

One day sadness hit me deeply.
She e-mailed me a couple of weeks after the "incident" when she came  home with the by now 5-year-old girls and found her Hubby on the sofa. His heart had stopped beating.

I offered help, but she didn´t take it.

Reckon she is now a single Mum.

And yes. I contacted her a couple of times again. No answer... Sad... I still wish her well.

Henry 🦁

Hope they are well... and yes, I think of her from time to time.
We really were friends.
When "we" cooked she could´t believe I´d never done that before!
She´s my little Brother´s age and had to teach me!

Don´t throw your friends away, no matter what job the have...
I am external again, but ALSTOM is a different kind of family, I am 100% accepted as a colleague.

Two posts today, one to smile about here!

(More) Words On A Friday!

Pic of Ingo and I with Peter Pan taken by Sami in 2019 at  Queens Gardens, Perth...

Dear Peter Pan, from last November till this week I went from age 25 to 40, LOL.
My Excel-magician cannot believe I am 51, I sound too young... and dynamic! 🤣
He always keeps asking numbers (in Excel-sessions!!!) and it took me a while, I thought I´m in an auction again, not knowing what I bid for!
(We always only share documents on MS Teams)
Anyhows...

Today I join River again with "Wednesday´s Words on a Friday" (read her lovely story, too!).
I am not creative, hence I can only join with true stories...

"This week's words/prompts are:
1. missing 2. pillow 3. rattle 4. flight 5. beginning 6. shabby 7. time
This month's colour provided by Charlotte is white"

The pillows on Singapore Airline- flights aren´t exactly shabby, but with every bump and rattle I cling to Ingo in fear!
But the flights were worth it, see:

Good times end too quick...
We arrived early Sunday morning in icy cold Frankfurt, from super-hot Perth, our bodies were still in that Perth-time-mode and believe it... we could order a beer!!!!
International Airport for sure!

It was February, thankfully no white outside, no snow, just cold. But it was just the beginning of the coldest month!
"The gang" was safely in Ingo´s backpack.

We took tram, then train #1, train #2, finally (I cannot sleep on planes, I was exhausted) went off in Braunschweig.
My right arm is no good no more so it takes me longer with the luggage.

There were LOADS of people, many dressed up - we hit carnival-day, oh, noooo.

But - no worries, Ingo is tall, I see him. When I reached him we found out... his backpack was missing!!!! He forgot it in the train.

So, after dragging the luggage in rain home on foot (at carnival trams/buses just drive to castle and back and a taxi would´ve taken ages) I went on some other  journey with calling railway-stations etc, but we got it all back.

Next time we need to make a better plan right from the beginning!

(In case you are a Trekkie... YES, that is the whole James Blish-series from the 1960´s! I got them all as second-hand books on our trip throughout Australia in 1999)

No more "forgetting" anything!! As said our Miele-Bär, Elmo, Blanket and mini-Ingo were in there!!!
You can replace glasses and all but not these guys!!

Henry 🦁

Two posts again, as I also join Nicole and Annie... To smiley faces!

A Time-Mix

I join River today with these words:
1. donkey 2. battleground 3. spatula 4. outside 5. bridge 6. stars 7. rescue 8. scorching.

My Brother... here is a pic of him on a donkey.Isn´t that cute? Ca 1980.
He helped me out when Dad - he was a very fair man and asked me as the older one first - if I wanna go on a journey "to America" with him (he got this as a gift for selling I don´t remember what, he was goldsmith, watchmaker etc...), I said yes and last sec remembered... no.

We were too much alike - Bro went with him instead and we all were happy. This was maybe... 1985?

I would´ve failed on the battleground anyways!

A spatula these days is more my thing!
What a word!!! Spatula!!!!

Reminds me of Spartakus!

Ingo wanted to bbq his steak in the caravan park in Madeley/Perth outside but there was no... "Spachtel", as we call this.
So I went to the front desk and tried to explain what I want, boy, it was embarrassing, LOL!
"I want to flip meat on the bbq"... uiiii.... But that word-bridge did get me what I needed!

In Perth you can see the stars.. but not as wonderfully as in the Outback - and in Germany only in a village or small town in ice cold nights, darn light-pollution!

I prefer the scorching Australian heat!!!

I need no one to rescue  me, I enjoy that heat, but not the cold!

Dad always dragged Bro and me out of the warm bed in such nights to watch the "stupid stars".... Hello, school day tomorrow and... it´s freezing cold!!!

Still... miss ya, Dad.
And the Aussie sky and... you get the picture...

Henry 🦁

If you like to scroll though, today I have a Pirate Baer and a Poison Apple on top to share :-)
You really challenge me with your great memes - thank you! 😀

Words Sometimes Come Easy

Sadly, as you know, I am not a creative person.
But River´s words... one of them... gave my mind a push, "hey, don´t you remember?!!!"

The words are: 1. hypnotic 2. case 3. promise 4. wild 5. ceiling fan 6. burgers and shakes 7. canvas 8. garlic

Yes, I do, remember. Golgath. I think that was the name (I could not read yet).
Grandma, who moved from Hamburg-area to us when my Bro was due to help raise us, always took me along.

My maternal family is "fish-head", from originally near Königsberg (Kaliningrad), then Hamburg-area, they all love seafood.

Help me, please, it was a pain. The little store at the end of our road.
On hot summer days you knew what was going to happen.

It was hypnotic - for the nose at first. Then the eyes. The old ceiling fan - Ingo calls these things "Miefquirl", it only spread the smell of fish around, all out into the street.
It didn´t cool at all.

So. Imagine a nearly 5-year old staring disgusted at that fan... me.
I have my Dad´s genes, fish only if I have to.

Grandma once bought very, very fresh eel there.
Cut into pieces, some jumped out of the hot pan, dancing, jumping, right in front of me, wild, not really dead pieces... I screamed my head off, Mum came to the "rescue" and I was not allowed in the kitchen anymore for a loooong time, yes, that was the case...

No way I learned to cook, hence, but I had a canvas to sketch on. Some pieces even ended up on my parent´s walls, OK, two, let´s not exaggerate. And by that time I was already a teenager.

When Ingo was in hospital I promised myself to brave up and... cook. It even was yummy and after I lost my total fear of heat, I enjoy cooking and even baking.
Just no garlic! The smell alone makes me sick, no Mief-Quirl can put that away!

I come from a small city and honestly... I cannot remember when I had my first burger
There was no fancy Maccas or such in "town".
There STILL is not, as far as I know, I remember a private burger shop say 10 years ago, but that is gone. I think. Wasn´t there in ages.

But I can show you the YUMMIEST one with the HAPPIEST man:

And sadly we have nothing like Grill´d here...

And shakes? Hmmm. We had what we call an Eisdiele,  a little "ice cream parlor", not far away from the fishes.
Not much into sweets here, but when my cousin from... near Hamburg! - visited, we sometimes went and I remember many a banana-split.

Oh, boy, this is from very long ago, thank you for the memories, River, the smell of that store is right in my nose!!! 😉
They also had fruit and veggies cramped in on the other side, but Granma only took the fish, wrapped up in old newspaper-pages. No one cared about the ink back then.

Henry(´s cousin) 🦁

HA! We have our own now!
