The grass is greener

on the other side!
And the earth better, too, it seems :-)

So we went to the Arch Noah Zoo Braunschweig (german) - here´s my very first raccoon:

I know, elsewhere they are a pest - but here they keep only slowly coming back and they start doing so rather in France than in Germany. So I can think they are cute, huh?

This hungry monkey was outside - poor Kookaburra was inside - and found nothing to laugh about, poor guy.

Poppy seed - see the elf in the background?

Kids on the playground?

Not really:

A sheep:

Turtle outside the zoo:

Yips, we´re in the town of Henry, the Lion:

And the lot:

A nice little zoo.

Season opened

You can click to enlarge.
Let´s see how he decorates his bike for autumn - this was chrissy-time, and yes, it is a man :-)

Or has he a bike for every season? It´s a different one now!

Push-Bikers welcome

Brunswick has heaps of cycle ways to offer, and people use them a lot, actually they´re quite safe.

Nontheless it happens that for example broken glass or a rusty nail might be in the way. Flat tire? No worries - help is to be found here anytime!

Yips, you might think there are condoms in there - nope - it´s inner tubes! For Mountainbikes, City/Trekking-, Race-bikes, 26'', 28'' - you should find yours! (you can click to enlarge)

What a great idea, SchlauchOmat (german, for, well, tireOmat).

You don´t have a bike? No worries, either!

You might be lucky and find one for sale right in front of the park:

Click to enlarge for the details (mobile number) - is on offer for 20 bucks. :-)

Stroll

Sunny and a bit warmer it was, so we went for another walk - this is in pedestrian range, can you believe this?

We´re still in the city:

Also this belongs to our heritage - a memorial stone in the pavement in front of the house where Mr. Hans Jacobi did live:

He was born in August 1898, arrested and deported to the KZ Dachau where he died on 11/02/1945.

Sad. Unnecessary.

We ended with something good, though - ice cream!

Memory? What memory?

I have a quick digicam now! :-)

On the way to work I saw that cute Lion - I surely would´ve forgotten to google it - who could remember a name like that all the way through traffic?!

Took this pic whilst driving on the highway (I was slow, see, behind the truck):

So, back home, I googled it and here it is, Wurstspezialitaeten BORKOWSKI (german), they belong to http://www.braunschweiger.de/, so simple!
A local butcher - to the right on the site you see our Lion (german).

Looks yummy what they have to offer!

They promise taste and quality and even have a webcam (see interaktiv)! Kinda cute (ok, I don´t want to know... do you see the process from animal to sausage? Don´t hope so!)

The navel of the world

Yips, that´s supposed to be us!
Ok, maybe that´s too big for our boots after all ;-)
"Braunschweich Braunschweich - The navel of the world" is a musical/revue from german/brunswick band Jazzkantine (german) - which I admit - haven´t even seen it so far!

But isn´t that car-sticker just funny anyway? At least the sticker thinks it´s the navel of the car...

We went for a stroll yesterday evening. Just like a normal couple does, I suppose - we´re getting there, yes!
Yesterday was cold but at least sunny. Today it´s even colder, not really sunny and Ingo doesn´t feel good.

So, here some more pics from yesterday´s stroll through Braunschweich:

Public toilets don´t have to look yucky:

A balcony with a Lion:

Another Lion:

From the side - is he playin´ with a ball?

Henry, thanks for giving us the Lion!

Cake?!

Look at this thin, hungry-looking man!

Every once in a (very long) while he makes a cake. Since strawberries are kinda affordable these days, he made this:

And will you believe it - I liked it!

But, let´s be honest... This is more my style:

Yips, I was at my familiy´s place again - needed to switch from winter- to summer tyres. And, certainly, ordered a ten without ham at Nico.
Gosh, I know this man all my life, but don´t you think German is his language?
I said, hmmmm, I look forward to this!
And he said, you too.

Guess he assumed I wished him a nice weekend ;-)

Aw, well. The pizza was YUM! And the cake, too :-)

Wine & Fruits

Wouldn´t that be so great for our kitchen? But we have tiles. And it´s not really worth the effort and money.

But I can dream, huh? Love to see what´s new all the time!

Saw that in Bad Harzburg where my Mom wants to move to for retirement.

There is a fountain of youth, maybe that´s why she wants to go there! ;-)

46 600 000 000 000

What a number!

Super-Computer makes 46 600 000 000 000 steps of calculation per second – guess where you can find it?

At the German Aerospace Center in Braunschweig, at the Research
Airport, just around the corner.

In just one sec it calculates 46,6 billion steps, impressive, huh? If you put the calculated numbers on CDs, you would get a tower of 640 m in height, this article (german) says.
Lower Saxony, the DLR and Airbus work together in this 30-million-euro-project. It´s the main tool in the department for aerodynamics and fluid mechanics and is named C²A²S²E (Center for Computer Applications in Aero-Space Science and Engineering). They use it for flight simulation with the newest, economical ideas for airplanes in realtime.

I think it´s kinda cool.

She kissed me....

... I turned into a prince and we ran away!

Yes, we did. We sneaked out of the hospital and went to the Okercabana (german), YAY!
Beer: nonalcoholic :-)
Frog King: still hanging around in our kitchen, looking friendly and happy.

We then walked through the Buergerpark, it was soooo good!

Not sure it´s officially ok to bring your grill and have a BBQ, but heaps of people did and I love it!

Ingo was in pain for a while, but managed. It was like a summer-day, for sure!
I feel refreshed!

Happy public holiday!

Egg-flowers

Still missing: the sunflowers.
Ok, guys: Grow!

Tin-flowers

Gerbera in a tin! Watering:

A hole in the bottom:

I planted gerbera, daisies, strawberry, parsley, oregano and basil - let´s hope, they´ll grow!

Tomorrow is pentecost-Monday, a public holiday, YAY. I´ll seed gras, sunflowers, mimosa and snapdragon (which in german is called "lion´s mouth" - hello, Henry :-)

Spring and summer - that is life!

A pressie?

The Packstation (german) is a good thing - you can get a parcel also on a Sunday!

So, here I am (through a shop´s window):

Taken with my new cam. Under my arm: Another digicam, Ingo´s.

Here is the man with his new toy - the man I am together with for fourteen years now, happy anniversary!

And no, not a pressie, I´m just the postman here! ;-)

This is the "park" belonging to the hospital. Hope to have you home soon.

Happy Mothers Day

Stupid faces ... a family product, it seems! ;-)

I talked to Ingo´s Grandma today - it´s her birthday. She was totally clear in her mind. Tellin´ me how fast it all went with her getting sick and from hospital to the old people's home.
At least she didn´t talk of dying anymore!
Hope to see her soon.

Stop staring at me!

We live opposite the Brunsviga (german), a cultural center in town.
With child-care, too.

When I pulled down the blinds in the kitchen, I backed off! Eeeek!
What do those children do there at night?

Did they take drugs?

What horrible blank looks! Staring at me!

Boy... What is this, huh? Art? Bleh!
