Yum
More murals by ENTE, this is at TU-Mensa.
The smell really was delicious!
Our Mensa back then never smelled like that - maybe a reason I nearly never went!

Send Me A Postcard
I certainly had to grab this book with postcards of 125 years of "my" city!
Some places have changed massively, like Ackerhof:
Crazy, no?
Happy Rizzi House now dominates the scene.
A while ago instead of "SCHLOSS ARKADEN" a very nice park was to be found as the castle was destroyed in WWII. 2005 they destroyed the park and rebuilt a copy of the castle, sadly.
Some places just swapped horse buggy to car:
Card from the time between 1890 and 1910:
On November 6th 1910 Braunschweig celebrated the "Parseval-Tag": The Prallluftschiff (Blimp and yes three "l" as you pronounce it prall luft, stupid, huh?) Parseval 5 landed the first time in Braunschweig.
Worth a post-card, right?
Last not least...
Our beloved, good ole Henry, always THE symbol of the city :-)
As much as I love my kindle... some books just have to be in paper!

Treat Yourself
When I got my very first massage we had a good chat and the lady said, go, treat yourself after you got your stuff out of that company - knowing you´ll do something nice will make it easier to go - and so I did.
Yes. Also Maccas can be a treat - I love croissants, cheese and ham :-)
Next I took off to the employment office, handing in my sick-note. From there it´s just a shorter walk to Thomas Phillips and I got this:
More confusing than this?
Now, big surprise, I also picked this:
Grüezi [ˈɡ̊ryÉ™̯t͡si], as the Swiss say as greeting.
I had some and .... ewwww... done for a while with sweet stuff, I guess!
My first attempt at green asparagus (wash and get rid of the ends) was...
The receipe said add white wine - awful smell, too!
But I tried again with broth and peeled, not washed:
As in... I do not give up that easily.
In the city I got a book - more on that later.
I kinda feel freed.
I will never return to that company ("never say never", I know).
A new chapter in life begins - and if it is just "Icke first" as ex-teamleader advised. Me first (for a while).
Addendum:
Ingo had a surprise for me, too:

Cherry Cherry La..
I hope you were never bothered with Modern Talking or their song Cheri Cheri Lady (wait for the refrain in hiiiigh pitched voices, brrrr).
This can happen when Germans try to sing English and want to use French words with it.
Instead of "chérie" (with accent aigu and an "e", as far as I know a lady is female after all) they blurt out "cherry" and I always had to think of cherries when this awful song was played on the radio.
I hope you are not a Modern Talking fan, otherwise I might´ve just offended you and in that case I´m very sorry - people like different styles, I am aware of that (reckon the chances are very, very low, though ;-)...).
None the less!
Here are some cherry-blossoms, ma chérie ou mon chéri :-)
So sad it´s over so soon!
Beautiful, no, what a waste, too!
Awwww... spring!

Hand In Hand (Not)
I bought Ingo a solar-charger.
Works, but made a noise, so yesterday I went back in (useless) hopes to get another.
I found something else, though.
Never worked in a grocery store and have no idea if you still register what you scan or if you do this "blind".
If the girl did look she might´ve thought, now these two definitively do not go hand in hand! ;-)
Or, do they?
Will have to do more sport to make up for trying this "microwave-burger", right?
Do have to admit after that lady at the employment office telling me I´m "burned out" I switched sport to thinking.
And really.
Why the heck did I always state I loved working for that company???
The broken promise (only 6 months driving), those very awful colleagues R and F - they simply left me alone with those problems, despite I kept asking for help.
The wonderful working-hours - yes, the customer said OK to this, as well as to 6 weeks holidays in a row every two years, the customer said OK.
It wasn´t all bad. Partners were always welcome for the Christmas-party and there was one fun-event per year.
Alas.
Called the psychologist.
I am to call again begin of June to get an appointment in July.
Crickey!!!!!
What´s with those who really have a problem?!
So, no more thinking - back to sport! :-)
(And no more microwave-burgers. I hear Ingo saying, told you so, but, alas, I always have to try new stuff!)
Off now to get my "belongings"...

Bunny-Recipe
Well actually I need a recipe for bunny-ears, so to say.
Actually I don´t like sweets, but I simply couldn´t resist these cheapies. Aren´t they too cute?
I simply took coke for the first try:
Tasted like water.
Tipps are welcome.
Meanwhile...
I payed Da Pino a visit - cinnamon, yum!
They´re "real" Italians and I love to listen to that language. Plus the guy is quite sexy, too.
Temps down to 13C, rainy.
Maybe rather wine than icecream-time?

And There You (Don´t) Go
So I went to see my doc yesterday.
She´s clever.
The secretary wants the keys personally but isn´t in before 09:00, so I´d run into the boss?
No problem, send your hubby.
When have you been to the employment office, Friday? I´ll sign you sick backdated to Friday. And your boss has to pay, too.
(I was officially on holiday).
The last years I was quite underchallenged and then last year very overstrained, yes, that can cause a burn-out indeed. Plus a chronically ill hubby.
I also told her my orthopaedic specialist asked on a scale from 1-10 where do I see my stress-level.
I said 1, he said it´s a clear 10.
I´m signed sick 4 more weeks and she did say, yes, it can take up to a year.
Yeah, and why not.
She stressed I was near to never sick, worked 17 years straight despite the car accident etc etc.
I am to see a psychologist and then we see how that goes.
An odd feeling, though, never had I thought I´d ever need a psychologist!
Really, so many people refuse to work, maybe it´s my turn now.
Why would I risk my health if the state can pay me back!
I mean... just have a look at Dr Müller. He "gives up" and gets some whopping 20 million euro.
Twenty million euro! I never gave up until my work got destroyed every Friday at 10:00.
Pics: My full bloom is over for now and sadly I´m not strong as a lion.
But reckon I´m taken care of.

It´s... Turtle!
Found on a playground - sadly, as so often... no hint on the artist(s).
I´m not much of a comic fan.
I grew up with Tom and Jerry & friends.
And the anime series of Captain Future, but reckon I was actually too young to really understand.
So... bare with me... I have no idea what this mural really is about.
If you know: Let me know if you like.

Whittle-Disco
Well, doesn´t this look a bit like disco?
I went to Thomas Philipps again and found this 70´s green flower-pot!
Our bathroom had that exact color!
Bro and I took baths in the wash-bowl back then.
The actual Whittle-Disco wasn´t even worth a pic.
Theme: Don´t waste food. Doesn´t look pretty doesn´t matter, whittle and cook - with music, too.
4 stalls, no more and all said meat is murder, live vegan.
No. Thank you, no.
We went to Schadt´s instead and Ingo presented me with a couple of cards:
Well, I´ll have to, huh....
This is more to my liking :-)
Back home....
I´m old, this is the kind of disco I like :-)
As music we had this:

(Burned Out) Karma
So yesterday morning I took off to the employment office.
I stopped many times to take pics and... those who know me personally will know, despite the breaks I was 30 minutes... early.
They weren´t even open yet!
Different people have told me how bad that place is, how unfriendly the people etc etc, I went there with a rather bad feeling.
I opened the doors - security guy in black.
Giving a bright smile wishing me a very good morning! :-)
Next I tried to find out where to go, saw a sign but couldn´t reach it. A woman stopped me and asked very friendly where I need to go.
When I told her she had no clue and ran off to ask for help.
Mind you, I´d found out quicker by myself, but that was a very nice gesture, no?
Second floor, I took a seat, got out my kindle, still ten minutes to go.
Five minutes later the door opened and the lady was happy I was already there.
Germans, huh.
She was pleased I had all required stuff ready, had a look, said, ah, IT, that´ll be rather easy.
Looked me in the eye, stopped smiling and told me I don´t look good at.all.
Tell me.
And that was when I lost it a bit.
Instead of telling me to get myself together she went into the other direction, said she´d be disappointed after such a long time, too and that she does not see me working.
You´re burned out, go, see your doc.
Then she added, others get signed sick of "peanuts" - you´re no peanuts.
(My name is Emperor)
What I think is:
I have to get back "there". To give back the keys, get data from my PC and personal stuff.
If unlucky I run into my boss.
Ingo suggested I go Monday as the boss is later on those days but the secretary who wants the keys personally isn´t in before 09:00 am.
I think once done that I´ll be much better.
Funny thing, I said, seesh, I don´t even have a tissue.
Shoot, me neither! My husband always tells me to have some!
She found a napkin, though.
Well, bottom line.
Karma. I just met nice, helpful people.
Come May 2nd I won´t be unemployed.
Strange, though, how the sense of self can differ from the awareness of others.
And no worries, I feel fine.
Monday around lunch time I´ll be even better :-)
Addendum. So glad I got Ingo.
Why would I jump when the secretary says so and risk to run into the boss and feel bad?
She wants the keys. I´ll make a note with all infos as planned, if M does not sign I´ll put the paper on her table with the note she can come and get the keys from my house.
I´m so sick and tired of them all.

It´s Only Us
Spring is over it seems.
I mean... 28C - that´s summer!!!!
And...
Who´s outside?
See title - only the two of us!
People are home, they step on their balconies, bring stuff out or fetch something and go back inside.
Because, hey! Germany, right. We always have high temps and sunny weather (not).
That scaffolding is there since last Friday. Once I saw men working. Once...
We enjoyed the quietness and...
Potatoes with salt (and butter on Ingo´s side. I think they were that buttery I didn´t need any real butter).
This morno I took a thin jacket.
I wonder why, it´s summer! :-)
