I just read that it´s December 3 for daylight saving for WA, too (news.com.au/perthnow).
This sure is great news, considering we will be in Perth for three weeks only - that´s 24 hours we got on top, so to say :-)
But I don´t understand - why this debate, what´s the big deal?
I can´t remember not having this (we got it "back" in Germany in 1975, time didn´t mean much to me those days ;-)...).
But it seems to be a big deal worldwide.
Btw - we call it summer time and winter time - which suggests which one is better - at least I feel way better in summer!
Why is it such a big deal? Are you happy or unhappy about it?

Hi Iris, I'm not too keen on it, I've experienced two daylight savings summers here in WA, both followed by referendums (I was too young to vote the first time). One of the arguments is that it's not great for dairy farmers - they have to get up extra early or mess up the cows' cycles. Something my family found is that my Dad, who works for himself, would just keep working longer hours because there was daylight (he's a plumber). Children arrive home from school in the heat but have to wait longer to go to the beach (I'm from a coastal town, so we noticed it a lot) - then my younger siblings would stay there till it became almost dark - which is too late to come home to get ready for school the next day! For me, the summer light drives me nuts and keeps me indoors (that's a very unique issue, I know!), so an extra hour of it won't be appreciated. On the upside, I'll now be only two hours behind my family in Tassie, which does have daylight savings. :-)
