I (Won´t) Eat You

Well, technically this is not really a sign, or is it, a sign on the run?
We do not threaten people, right (and we´ll always need trucks in cities/villages).

We do not threaten, not in The City of Henry The Lion!!!
We have the sweetest Lion in the world here!
Every night after New Year´s Eve he steps off his place and walks around to make sure everyone is OK, what kind of a lion does this these days?

And just have a look!!

He´s a teacher, too!

I grew up learning this by heart, but thanks to loving American Football I certainly know this, too:

But I admit... I - in real life - count back to centimeter. I also work with grams, kilograms, Celsius, km/h...
Weee, if I ever make it to the United States and have to drive.... huhhhh... but I reckon there´s an app for this...

Speaking of. What do you think: Do apps and stuff being available all.the.time. make us smarter or dumber?

I present... drumroll (not) - the Lion of the day:

Not threatening, loving :-)

Taking part in Tom´s "Signs 2", also with the BEErs.

Addendum. Since Tom told the story of the cam-companies, see what Ingo uses/used (a mini-hobby):

AGFA is still around!

As a Canadian, officially we use metric since 1971. However those of us who went to school before that can also use imperial. We use Celsius for temperature but are comfortable in the States with Fahrenheit. Grocery stores typically use a mixture of pounds and kilos when pricing meat.
We also always refer to height in feet and inches.

Here's a fun guide. https://www.reddit.com/r/canada/comments/2sb67h/how_to_measure_like_a_canadian_a_fun_guide_to/

They are "teams", this is clever and fun ideed, I´ll have a closer look, thank you :-)
It´s clever, too, to have both in everyday life, measurements and languages!

...I doubt if I would want to rent a truck from a company with those graphics! This American is too old and perhaps too lazy to learn the metric system. That camera isn't familiar to me! Thanks Iris for stopping by, I hope that your day is going well.

I think I - even though I am allowed to drive 12 tons (13,227736 short tons?) I would not hire that truck, either.
Yes, too old to learn here, too! I am metric. That´s it ;-)
That camera is from former GDR, from the 1950´s.

I sometimes think we are the only country in the world who isn't metric and it would be easier if we were (even though I'd have a terrible time adjusting!)

Love your lion!

As long as we have teachers like this lille guy we can have both, no?
If or when (!) I/we make it, guess he´ll join us :-)

Because I've always been metric I have trouble with imperial measurements so I use google to calculate if I come across them.
Love the lion, so cute :)

Iris Flavia said...

Sami, yes, google is a big help!

Marleen, thank you :-)

When I have to convert metric to imperial, google is my friend. I like the lion, that's something my wife would make.

Cute lion.

Oh I love Henry the tape measure Iris, he is so you 😊 It's lucky most tape measures come with both imperial and metric measures or it could be twicky for some 😁

Iris Flavia said...

Bill, yes, google here, too. Sadly other than your wife I cannot knit or whatever this is...

Jim, yes, isn´t he :-)

Grace :-) And, wee, it´s the second one in my life that comes with both (the other is a frog).
