Halloween? It Sucks

Is this pumpkin boycotting Halloween? Is he sucking on "Corinna"? That would be a brave, good pumpkin then, I like to see that "positive"...

Positive was the rain that helped against the grey by giving a (last?) boost:

On the way and right here to my left!

 And now... what is this?

The seeds said "poppies" but they look rather like loads of German luck, like 4-leaved cloverleafs... Big irony or... luck after all?

These guys were not so lucky:

Last Monday I took the route via the ever empty campus since a long while and noticed this welcome-post-it´s- creation for the new students 2020.
Reckon they will remember their (at least) first two semesters not in a way they were looking forward to.
Wild parties, full auditorium, canteen-food... nada.

But... let´s stay positive in a positive way, the House of Science shows us a light!

Henry 🦁? He loves to see a bright(er) future, too!

To those who celebrate: Happy Halloween! 🎃

Let´s Play

Passed by Musikalien Bartels and thought I share the beauty.

Well dressed for a round Birthday, isn´t he? And he kinda has pressies for you!

The salt & Pepper is really cool, don´t you think?

Really a nice store.

Henry 🦁? He´s delighted, too, and he has proof he made it home from his last adventure:

See his smile! Lions are known for being playful 🎼- do you play?
So much for window-shopping, Tom!

So far I play in movement not finger-wise: 382% (I should switch the mode, huh) , 30 543 steps, 19 km and 2712 calories burned.

Kids Today!

Kids today... they drink, gamble, hang around in dark, narrow lanes... they take pics with Kalle, or, as you call Braunschweig mathematician and physicist Carl Friedrich Gauß!

Can you imagine how my heart jumped for joy seeing this?
There is hope!!!

(See Kalle to the left)

(On bike to the right, Kalle is left)

I am officially old, noticing this with pride... and I love it!

Now, a  mathematician, huh?
Henry 🦁 picks up the game!

Here´s (sadly a very little) hint:

Yes, a very old shot!

Addendum! Somehow I guessed "people" know Gauß or Gauss, but reckon I live behind my own lille rock!

Gauss - the link above  is in English gives much more away, here just a short introduction:.

He is considered "the greatest mathematician since antiquity" which is interesting, as his mother was illiterate, he came from a poor family. When he "was barely three years old he corrected a math error his father made; and when he was seven, he confidently solved an arithmetic series problem (commonly said to be 1 + 2 + 3 + ... + 98 + 99 + 100) faster than anyone else in his class of 100 students." If interested you can read more here.

Maybe you also know the Gaussian filter.

Buy Local

Saw the following sign on a wonderfully rainy day last week, an optometrist asking you to buy local - I always try. Or maybe slowly I have to say "tried".

My fitness-tracker has come to age, I have to load it up to twice a day, so I went to the store.

They didn´t have it and they couldn´t order online because they have a discount campaign (makes no sense to me).

Went to the next. They didn´t even have it on offer.
Why I wanna buy especially these things local?
If something breaks (like last time the wristband) I can simply walk into the store and get a replacement.

Buy via amazon or such... wrap up, post office etc etc.

Which I had to do now, order online and the next day it even was there already.

But also because I want to help local stores to survive.

Online I saw a device for the sewing machine.
Shop one has never heard of it, and in shop two... One staff was explaining a machine to a customer.
One staff just stood bored, saw I´m looking for something and just couldn´t care less.
As it was a small store and not very modern so I assumed they don´t have it anyways and left.

It´s not only the mask thing, which gets worse in the cold temps outside and way too warm stores, it´s staff that does not care.
Also pre-"Corinna" our stupid REWE for weeks ran out of articles again and again, simply saying on me asking, "they unpack it right now.".
I have no idea how it can take two weeks (or more) to unpack the water-brand Ingo prefers. Or the coconut milk or the cheese brand...

You would guess an article gets sold, it is registered and if the article is on a certain amount you get a warning: "order this". But, nada, no one cares.

You look for clothes, or whatever... no.staff. I don´t know where they hide, you gotta run and try to find someone.
Or order online.

Henry 🦁? He is tame, he loves his city, he...

What do you to - local or online? Or what did you pre-"Corinna" do?
This is for "Tom´s Signs 2".

T STands For ScariesT

We get and love the ads in the mail and I fuzzy-cut all this fun, call it art or don´t, I like the outcome 🎃
You always find the "evil" one above!

The bats were rather tricky, but taking the glasses off I managed and hence they fly happily, creating a shadow. (Short-sighted here)

Trick... or treat .. or what is the scariest here? Maybe this?

What a year this is...

Henry 🦁 sneaks into the picture, spot him? He´s brave, going into all the evil!

And did you know? Halloween comes from Ireland and at first laterns were made of roots. Only then it made its way to America and slowly, very, very slowly to us here in Germany...

As simple as this... "project" looks... it was fun, and that´s what matters, right?

Food-wise let´s go back to where my motherly-sides family came from, Königsberg, we made Königsberger Klopse

Getting old this might be a dish for a week! (I´ll freeze some).

As a kid I thought capers were animals and refused to eat them.

To join Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday" I finally chose this yummy, orange-like-a-pumpkin-looking drink (hey, it´s Halloween-week, right?) this:

Henry you found with the "horror"-pumpkins!
Happy Halloween!

We Are The People

Mural passed by oh so often, on Wilhelm-street.

... always...

Because...

And for a change I can present you the artists and the supervisors...

by...

Raabeschule  is a "gymnasium", which in German is secondary education, not (only) a place to do sports...

Some more impressions:

I am sad, in the aftermath, my parents sent me to such a school.
We did not interact, we did fight.
We learned but discussing, no handy stuff at all.

My Brother, as Ingo, went to Realschule, where you learn the important things in life, not that high-flying-stupid stuff I did - worth: nothing!

My big Niece is doing very well at school and, proud parents as they are, they want to send her to a school I went to.
I said, "please don´t! It´s no good...".

Things might´ve changed, my Brother told me, "we will send her to such a school!".

Oh, boy, I hope they do the right thing...
I´m just the Aunt, and they won´t listen. His wife went to Realschule, also.
And that was THE RIGHT THING!

Hence this mural makes me kinda sad.
It´s on the way to the tax-office, too.

I went there Saturday to drop a letter.
Last year I had to call her, my tax-lady, her name translated is "tooth" (Zahn). A "monster", OH, BOY! And this year a letter came, too.
I called her.

In the end she even laughed. DESPITE I caused some troubles (try their tool, awful, she even agreed). Thanks to "Corinna" she sits by herself.
I added tea-bags for the week and a personal letter with the missing stuff:

Hope she likes it.
The missing stuff I scanned just to find out this part of Germany (Lower Saxony) cannot upload .pdf-files. Yaaahhh, are we advanced...NOT!

Taking part again in Sami´s COLOURFULWORLD Monday Murals.
