Keep Calm and Crochet On

The world has changed greatly in the past few weeks. Although it's been
longer in Asia.  Just over a week ago there was talk of social distancing and now
it's become the norm.  As this hit my hubby's back went out in a bad way and the last
place we wanted to go was the hospital but his pain was unbearable to not go.
We went first thing last  Friday morning and the ER was eerily quiet.  Eight hours later
we went homewith a script for  pain and mucle relaxing relief.  It's been an emotional
week needlessto say but thankful in other respects as so many families are suffering such
loss from this virus. I started working from home halfway through this past week as have
many others.  I have managed to work on my blanket when not working, helping hubby
 and doing all the chores.

I started part five of the Dahlia Blanket.  Slowly but surely it's been a joy to watch it grow
and stay cozy at the same time.  What have you been doing to keep occupied.

You may have seen this picture circulating.

I want to try and make some masks this week.  Anyone else going to try and
make them?

A Bit of This and That

I frogged a projected I started back in April.  I loved the yarn itself an knew it would make a great wearable item as it is so soft. I tried a crochet pattern before but found I didn't keep count very well.  I have always wanted to knit the Fan and Feather pattern and thought this yarn would be perfect for it.  I found a pattern on Ravelry and away I went using stitch markers to make the pattern row easier.

I also finished off this scarf project started many moons ago with Martha Stewart's Alpaca Blend.

Today is a day off for me and that means pulling out another project I haven't worked on in a while.  I could be so productive if work didn't get in the way.  This was a crochet blanket I started probably for a donation project, stash busting.

I popped into Michael's Craft store yesterday to drool over the holiday decorations and new yarns they have out, like I need more yarn.

These look like they'd make some nice items.

And one of my fur babies.  Yes, he's in pajama's Sammy feels special in his jammies.

And my princess in her dress.

Healing

Holiday crafting is underway.  I started the base wreath for this last year and finished that a month ago.  Sewing it on the foam was tedious.  I've still yet to add some additional crochet and or baubles.

I saw these amazing plaid pumpkins being made on Instagram and had to try them. The pattern is from @megmadewithlove .  I crocheted myself a new hat to match my new winter coat.  I want to put a faux fur pom pom on, just have to find one.  If not the usual yarn pom pom.

I'm still working on this starburst blanket.

Knitted a hat for my brother in law.  Starting scarf for a Christmas present.

Has anyone watched Broadchurch?  I did love that show.  My co-worker went back to England to visit her family and she brought us fans back a few pebbles from the beach where the show was filmed.

It's been a month since my dad passed and had some emotional ups and downs.  He was cremated so we waited to do a small inurment gathering of just the family at the cemetery and then a gathering at my aunts with good food and good memories.  My aunts dug up some great pictures I either hadn't seen or hadn't seen in a long time of us and family.  So nice to do that.
But this picture is by far the best one I've seen of my dad.

And to end a few pics of the kitties.

Stash Busting

Last weekend I completed another border row on my crochet mood blanket. We'll see how many rows I will add.  Just going with the mood. LOL

I've also been working on this round ripple a bit.  Possible Christmas present/stash buster.

And I made a few Maybelle flowers, more stash busting.

Happy Weekend All!

Adjustments

I have started my new job and training is coming along.  I only have brought my crochet with me one day.  I was used to an hour lunch previously but here I only have a half an hour.   Not a lot of time left after you prepare your lunch and eat to crochet.  There is another crocheter at work that I have come across so far.

So far this is my works in progress. A few blankets, shawl and motifs.

Motif making.

I did this quick little sewing project up from Dog Under My Desk tutorial.
Super easy, super quick and super useful.

Have you heard of Lily Bloom bags?  They are super adorable.  I got myself one
recently from E-bay. I have seem the line in one store here but not a style I liked.
They are Eco friendly as they are made of recycled plastic bottles.

The weather has been interesting around here lately.  Mid August, a lot of rain then
cooler spells.  Cooler I don't mind, mid-70's are perfect for me.

Me at a park.

Sky after a storm.

Anyway, have a good weekend all.  Keep Calm and Crochet On.

Small progress

This week I've worked on my blanket border.  I've managed to do 3 more rows, white and blue.
I'll keep going with a border until I'm happy with the size and colours.

This week I've just been doing a bit of this WIP a bit of that WIP, you know a few rows
here and there on whatever on the go.  Like my lovely ripple here:

I went for a lovely bike ride the other day.  I finally put my mini bunting on
my basket. I still have to finish my seat cover.

Well happy weekend all.  It's a long holiday weekend here in Canada.

Distractions

Happy Mother's Day weekend ladies!! The only crochet I've been managing of late is working on
the border of my squares blanket.  It's about baby/lap size.  I may just keep going with border to make
it a bit bigger.

I received my second Cath Kidston item this week.  It's so cute.  I love this purse.
It goes with my coin purse as well.

This game here has been my distraction from crochet.
Well, more like addiction.  It's the tablet smartphone version
from the one on Facebook.

But another distraction is the gorgeous weather. We got some
flowers and rose bushes this year. Usually we don't do much
with gardens and flowers.  But it's a nice change.

Two rose bushes in our back yard.
And this rail planter for the deck with a nice assortment
of colour.  I especially love the Dahlia's in the middle.

Happy weekend everyone!

Stripey Blanket

I finished my zipper stripe blanket for my co-worker's little girl. I'm sure she'll carry it around like Linus. It worked up farely quick. It took a week or so.

We finally got some new furniture for our Living room. It's been quite a few years since we bought anything major furniture wise. Crappy economy will do that. I love the rustic look of it.

Happy weekend all. Enjoy the weather. This was our weather here this week.
