Time Flies 2020

We are now in Fall here and it's amazing how summer just flew by this year.  Appreciating the simple things with all this home time and distancing.  I am still working from home six months later and don't mind in the least as it saves gas, traffic hassles and quieter work setting.  With the cooler weather starting I did feel like crocheting a bit this week.

I started these shortly after finishing my Dahlia blanket to use some of the left over yarn.
I think I'll make a cushion cover with these.

I still mostly have been painting, learning new techniques online. I still prefer
watercolor painting but do an acrylic piece ever once in a while and had to for
this fall pumpkins painting.

And some watercolor paitingings done recently.

Hubby and I have focused a lot on gardening this year and planning to improve
our growing for next year.  He built a raised garden bed for next year and preparing
the soil now for optimal growing.

We've had a good supply of tomatoes and cucumbers all summer.

Cooler weather crops started, lettuce, kale.  Still have some green pepers growing
and our first pumpkin almost ready.

And my poor girl had to get some teeth removed as they were giving her
some trouble. This was before.

And this when she came home still feeling a bit doppy.  She's doing
better now and still getting used to less teeth.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe.
Happy weekend all!

Crochet Goodness

When I first got really into crocheting and knitting about 10 years ago looking back at blog post, Attic 24 blog was a big inspiration for my creative crafty side. I've followed Lucy's blog since as many of you I'm sure follow as well.  She always comes up with wonderful color combinations for her projects and famous blankets.  Every years she's published a Crochet A Long CAL that I've always wanted to try and never have.  This year, her colorful Dahlia Blanket CAL was an instant draw to the colors she chose for this blanket inspired by the flowers. Last weekend I just ordered the Dahlia yarn kit from the Wool Warehouse.  I was surprised how fast it arrived in Canada from the UK.  Opening and drooling over the colorful goodness made my day.

I made the sample on a card to keep track of the colors. I chose her colorwash version of the blanket as I love the blend of the colors together rather than the random strip version.  It's a nice easy pattern that I can do in the evening watching TV.

Last weekend I made a few more of these blocks.

And here and there I pick these up in the evenings as well.  English Paper Piecing these together for
who knows what the finished product will be.  I thought they we be nice from charm pack I got.

I got my babies a new toy, motorized butterfly they love to swat at.

We've now had this sweet guy for 4 years now.  When we caught him he was just over a year old.
Shy, cautious but such a sweet kind soul.  He's still cautious but loves his brothers and sister and
loves to give them licks.  I'm happy they all get along so well.

And this guy, our second stray is the most loving, snuggly, always happy cat.
His tail is always up and loves to play all the time.

Happy weekend all!

Sunday Sewing

Just a bit of sewing today.  I haven't worked on too many projects the last few weeks.
Mostly relaxing sore shoulders and had a back spasm last week.  The joys of age.

And just some kitty cuteness.

Most evenings we spend time playing with the cats.  This guy below looks forward to playing with his wire toy and chases it around so much that he ends up panting. Then we have to stop so he can relax.  He's a great cat.

And my princess.

Happy Sunday All!

Summer Vacation

It's always nice being on vacation and no real plans.  You can just sleep in play it by the weather of course, get things done around the house.  Random things you don't take the time for during your regular work week.

I've been working on these gum ball squares a bit lately.  I also got the time to try the corner to corner crochet method that everyone seems to have a bug for.  I especially loved The Patchwork Heart's gingham blankets with this method and tried out her tutorial.  I decided on these colors.

Hubby was itching to get some cupboards to properly store all my "Junk" as he calls it,
more my crafting and random stuff.  With the time off he was able to put these together in a day, be it a long day and I to fill them.  Even in an unfinished basement they do look better than the
mismatched cabinets I had.

With a few crochet swag and string of stars and my puzzles hanging it make
it a bit more homey.  #makethemostwithwhatyouhave

A few years back my aunt gave me a blanket project started with the yarn. I had put
it aside for awhile. Picked it back up and finished the yarn she gave me with it.
However, it wasn't long or wide enough yet.  It was the width that could cover a
queen sized bed but I knew I wouldn't get the yarn a finish that out. I did find a few
small skeins of the yarn to at least add some more width.

It's just enough now to cover up laying on the couch.

We've had a cat coming around the back yard for a month or so now and have been
putting some food and water out for him.  He came around more frequent and one night
after a BBQ he came closer and I was trying to coax him and talk to him. He seems
friendly as he was rolling around on the ground. Another orange tabby.
The next night, on a Monday, he came to the bottom step of the porch where I put the
food and was talking to him. I crept down to the bottom step and put my hand out.
Eventually he came and let me pet him, he had a collar on with no tag. Later as it got dark
I coaxed him into a carrier with wet cat food.  He freaked out a bit but he needed to be
caught and get help.  Hubby brought him to Humane Society. They keep them for 3 day
and posted in Lost and Found.  He told them we'd like to adopt him after if he's not
claimed. So on Wednesday, International Cat Day, we went back to see him now that
he was out for adoption.  Sammy we called him. He has a cold however as some of
the kittens in there have colds too.  He will be on antibiotics there for 10 days.
Hopefully he'll get better before bringing him home with our other cats.

At least he is neutered now and is being fed, he's still a bit skinny.
Fingers crossed he'll get along with our other orange boys and girl.

Now that these two get along so well I'd hate to mess that up.
My princess turned 8 recently.

What to do with projects

It seems over the last year or so my creative juices haven't been flowing as easily as work and home duties take over.  I still visit my Bloglovin and check out my fave bloggers I follow as well as Intstagram and drool over the colourful projects that everyone seems to be making. It almost seems like I have to make a schedule and make an appointment to work on my crochet projects.

I just pulled out some from one of my bins of projects started, half finished, frogged etc.

I unattached all my African Flowers, still needing to find out how to make them into a square or a better way to join them.  Any suggestions or links to how I can do this?

The gum ball squares still in progress.

I seem to get bored easily of one project then move on to another.

We got the kitties a new cat tree yesterday.  Seems just after a new kitty comes to our house we get a new tree.  The last one was 2 years ago.  And they sure get their use of them.

We've been taking our girl outside a bit.  She loves to look around at the birds and bunnies that visit the back yard and sniffs the air.

Happy weekend all!!

Goodbye February

My collage for February.  It's been a busy month but I still have managed some craft.
I knitted this neck cuff. Just knit 4 purl 4.  It's so very warm.

One month till my vacation week and birthday.  I hope it'll be nice enough weather
to get out my bicycle.  This winter has added some pounds. March 1st and it's snowing.

Just a little collage of my fur babies.  They are waiting for spring as well.
And yes, my cat loves cantaloupe.  He's weird.

Happy weekend all.
