The Intention Is Good

You know when you find a great yarn or yarn pack and you highly intend to make something great with it but sadly discover the pack has insufficient yardage for the project you thought would be perfect for.  Well that is this yarn, Caron Pantone 60% Acrylic, 20% Nylon and 20% Merino Wool I thought I'd try making a hat pattern I bought from MyRoseValley a while back. It has the 5 colors needed for the pattern however each color after unraveling the hanks to roll into workable balls of yarn is not much. I bought the two below and have used almost all the dark brown below of both balls.  I thought I'd try switching to the light brown until the pretty pattern part but that may not look right.  May have to go back to yarn store today.

Has anyone else tried making anything with this yarn?

This past week I finished my Valentine's hang.  I used Annie Design Crochet hearts
pattern and the cutie pie flowers by Queen Babs on Instagram.

For sewing projects, I work on my EPP, paper pieces here and there.  I have
been joining more of them now.

I made myself and sleep mask, should of darkened it out inside a bit more and
a pin cushion to go around the machine.

As well as a lip balm holder for my key chain.  Winter requires constant application.

And my girl has her own bandana now.

Caturday.

Happy weekend all!

Finished WIP and Goodies

So I finished this project this week for my cousin's gift as she posted the link on my wall I took it as a hint for a gift.  It's the Flint Fox Cowl by Heidi May pattern that I bought.  It's well written and easy to follow instructions.  For this adult size I used 6 balls of the main colour Loops & Threads Charisma Marble chunky yarn in Granite from Michael's and maybe 1/4 ball of the chocolate brown.

I also started another but for a toddler, my cousin's little one I call my nephew.
Same yarn in blue.

I received some goodies this week from my brother who now lives in Canada's Great White North, Yukon.  Some Fireweed Jelly (made from a flower native to that area) which was quite good. A cute felted sheep, fun named soap and hot chocolate and best of all some lovely hand dyed yarn.

Last weekend I put the tree up for the first time in a few years.  Mostly we didn't have the room but made the room this year as it's Pippa's first Christmas with us.

And as you can see she's super impressed.  LOL

Hope you have a good weekend!!

Relaxation

This week I've been off work for 3 days for vacation time.  I'm opting now for more vacation time during the spring.  It's cooler with great weather for walks and bicycle rides. There was one rainy day that provided me with some crochet lazy time. I have been working a few few things.

Stash busting with this yarn it'll either be yet another scarf or something cozy for the cats to sleeps on.

I'm still working on this granny stripe.  Even my baby cat (really 12 years old) loves to cuddle on my yarny projects.
He's had some health issues lately.  The vet found a mass in his stomach.  She can't officially say if cancer or just intestinal growth.  He's been on a few meds that he may have to be on the rest of his life to keep him eating.
So far so good. He's been coming around eating and back to usual self.

We took a day trip to a near by larger city yesterday and I had to see a popular crafting supply store here in Canada.  It wasn't their main store but it had a wide variety of yarn and that's all that mattered.  Mary Maxim

My mistake however is bringing the spouse along to say don't you have enough yarn. Yes dear but you can never have enough.

Happy weekend all!!

WIP Wednesday

I finally got around to taking pics of my works in progress. I think the star blanket above is nearly the size I want.  I think it'll be for mom for Christmas.  The neopolitan project on the left will be a shawl. The colours makes me want ice cream.

Poncho (top) is almost done.  The larger it gets the longer the rounds take and that's when the ADD kicks in.  And on the bottom are two cowls on the go.  Most like to sell in Etsy.

This delicious yarn I fell in love with at Michael's. So soft for an acrylic yarn.  I am hoping to make my first cable knit hat for my honey as the colours are masuline.

Well have a good week.

Holiday Weekends

Another week gone by and I finally finished my little cushion. I used my neon Caron yarn
and you don't realize how neon they are until you have it outside. It's still cute and
super colorful. I used it at work yesterday and does the trick.

I could of used a wider stuffing pouch inside but I could always add to it.

I treated myself to some new yarn. Not a generic one either. Something I can
make a garment with.  I read about this type of yarn in my book series
I've been reading. Cascade Yarn Ultra Prima. Of course I got too eager to
unwind it and tangled it all up.  I spent my friday night detangling.
For the other skein, I looked up on You Tube how to properly unwind to
get it ready for my yarn winder. Learn by mistake I guess.

Last weekend I finished this section of my English Paper Piecing
project.

I'll end with a beautiful sunset we had this week.

Happy Labour Day weekend to American and Canadian friends.
It's the iconic weekend where summer seems to end, but not officially.

Happy Yarn Day

Yesterday was International I Love Yarn Day.  It would be nice if such days fell on a weekend to really be able to enjoy yarny things.

This is my morning crafty scene.  Cup of Joe via Hello Kitty mug. A new project underway.  Clearly Christmas themed.

Received a gorgeous pack of fabric this week from E-bay. I am becoming a fabric junky too.  Now the next step is to get making things with them.

My honey was eyeing a mug online that he had as a kid. Vintage Yogi Bear cup.
I found one on E-bay and put a bid in and I got it.  It's a bit pricey for an old mug but you pay for nostalgia I guess.
Not in perfect shape but better than another one I found online.
I hope he likes it.

It's getting cooler and I got out my ripple blanket I finished last year.

I love it, makes me want to make another. LOL

And for those fellow Canadians, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!
It is on Monday for us. I volunteered to work it.
Honey and I were invited out to my aunts for dinner today.  Yum

Free Yarn

My cousin stopped by with a box full of yarn.  A lady from her church gave it to her asking if
she knew anyone who can use it.  She knew exactly who.
Of course I was over joyed.

I started making something that day.  A small pet blanket.

Other than this I haven't made a whole lot lately.  Oh, except an apple cozy.
Nothing special to look at but serves a purpose.

Happy Long Weekend to those in US and Canada!!

Small Progress

Oh it's been a busy week.  Well I did make something last weekend I didn't get around to blogging about.  I wanted to make a small table cover.  It's a bit short in the length for my table so I think I'll have to add two more squares on each end. Then of course it will need blocking to lay flat.  Mostly in nice fall colours.

I found some new colours of yarn at the thrift store this week.  One of my favourites, Bernat Satin, in Taupe, Mocha and Sage.  They'll go nicely with my existing Satin collection of colours.

Started making some African flowers with this colour scheme.

And another pic of the cats.  Yes I like to do funny things to him. LOL.  He's wearing my hair piece.

Happy Friday and Weekend!!
