i was half right when i said that the F1 would be lame. i was there on Friday afternoon with my brother at the Pit Grandstands till evening and nearly died from listening to the roaring engines. the weather was great though, because of the morning rain. it was rather interesting, being within 100m of million dollar machines that represent the pinnacle of engineering. we saw the Aston Martins and the Formula BMW cars too, that pale in comparison to the wild F1 beauties. i don't know much about what goes in the garage, what makes that engine fire up like it does or all that G-force that the drivers are subject to, but all i know is that the cars look fabulous and sound very cool. Hamilton is really good looking too. (bimbo moment)
so tonight i watched the race on TV with my mom and maid (haha) and squirmed in my seat when Massa sped off with that fuel pipe still attached to his fuel tank. he nearly killed his teammate who was dragged along with the pipe! when Piquet crashed, there was an OHHHH in unison. and finally when Raikkonen, who was in 5th place, banged into the walls in the final laps and his wheels rolled off, it was like -________-. Ferrari screwed up big time. i wonder how often these crashes happen. i actually don't think they occur so often considering how race tracks aren't normally that narrow. cars just fly out and get disqualified. they don't obstruct other cars and crash and burn. my brother was saying that the drivers much be cursing at how the race tracks in Singapore have just about 2 lanes. -.-
at the end of the day, Alonso, who was laughed at yesterday at the qualifiers, had the last laugh. :)
so when i say that i was half right in thinking that the F1 was boring, i meant that being at the actual stands for the race is perhaps quite lame. save for the roaring engines (which you need to hear about thrice before it starts to overstimulate your auditory nerves) and perhaps the atmosphere, i'd much rather be in the comfort of my own home, with a bag of chips and some coke, a bunch of people who are equally clueless and noobish as me, and enjoying the camera view at every turn and on every car. :)
great. i can now say that i was there, at the World's First Formula One Night Race. :)
