06:02 a.m. yesterday - slept in, got up, turned on the heating and went back to bed (I´m on holiday!!! And sick with a cold! No COVID, just a cold)
I´m joining Nicole with FFO...
I was 14, in London and bought "Charlotte´s Web" and... "It"! Boy, the latter was scary.
This was pre-Amazon & co, try to get English books in Germany...
08:00 - icy cold, heating off, giving me an error-message. Called Ingo at work, we tried our best, froze by butt off, Ingo came home early, nothing he could do, called the company.
Nothing.
04:00 p.m I said, "no is goin to to come."
04:03 p.m. main phone ringing, bell was broken ALAS!!! We got help, yipee This is for Annie´s Smiles, of course!
We got help after he could see, obviously it´s still so warm his glasses fogged up - or maybe too cold outside.
Pump is gone!!!
He went all the way to Kralenriede to get a new one.
See.
When you give tips over years people do that for you. Give and take (or I looked like a near-frozen puppy, who knows ;-)...)
And Ingo gave a bigger tip.
What a holiday and no. I am not lucky. In Germany - IF you have a doc you can get signed sick and the insurance company pays those days.
But since our doc retired and doctors don´t take in new patients this is but bad luck for me. I have no doc. But pay big none-the less for the insurance company.
And my holi-days are simply gone.
At least the heating is back on. It´s -9C/15.8F outside.
Ingo is on holiday and got up early to heat up room after room (thank you!!!).
Meanwhile I´m coughing, sneezing, running nose.
And Monday back to work.

Wrong. Ingo made mulled wine 🥰

I hope you get better soon, I'm still trying to get rid of the cough the recent flu left me with.
Ack, wasn´t that weeks ago?! I want to be fit NOW. I think it´s not even a flu, just a cold.
My head hurts...
Sorry to hear about the cold house and when you are feeling under the weather. I guess in bed is the best place to be when it is so cold. I am glad the heating is fixed now anyway.
Stay in the warm, and I hope you feel much better soon. Kate x
Thank you, Kate. I´m a very late "genius" and put my comphy work-chair in front of my private PC, all good, blanket on my knees.
Hope the heating heats us up (no such luck so far). To summer x
...Iris, stay warm and well.
Your face is really scary this week Iris. Clown have always frightened me, and IT of course is scary. What a big difference between that book and Charlotte's web. And sorry about the cold but at least it is back on. Hurrah. And that's sad about not being able to get a doctor. Are there that few of them? Hope you feel better and are having a good FRiday. I image its back to work on Monday. hugs-Erika
Fun Friday art! Feel better soon!
If misery loves company, I have a cold, too. Here's a cup of tea for you. 🍵🫖 Feel better.
Oh Iris, I am so sorry you are still not feeling well. Yes, doctors are the same where I live too. I no longer have a doctor, just a PA. (Physicians Assistant) I am glad you have heat now. I love the clock you have on the wall. Very retro. The "IT" clown is perfect. I love the original movie of "IT" not the remake. I have had a request to show how to put a face on a bottle. I will do a step by step next week. Thank you for joining FFO.
Stay Warm Iris. Thanks for linking to Art For Fun Friday
Much💌love
Terrible. I hope you feel better soon. Very soon.
I really hope you can stay warm and get much better very soon.
Hugs,
Annie x
Oh how awful! Being without heating is not nice. In fact I can't think of anything worse. (One of the reasons we moved south).
I'm so sorry to hear you have a cold and are not feeling well. And then not having a doctor! That is terrible. There must be a way to sign off work for a few days (paid, I mean rather than use up your holidays)
Anyway, it's good the boiler is working again.
Have a lovely weekend,
Hugs,
Lisca
Drink plenty of warm beverages, bundle up and stay warm.
Oh Iris! what a week you've had you poor thing. I do hope you find a doctor soon, you never knbow when you might need one. This is why so many people in the UK go straight to A and E (Accident and Emergency). Bet you're pleased the heating isd back on again. Take care and hope you're feeling better soon. Angela xXx
Tom, still no luck with the warming up. But I slept a lot.

Erika, why, thank you (LOL, I know what you mean!) I never liked clowns and no idea why I bought that book!
Ingo tries to get a doctor for us both - wish him luck. Yes, doctors retire and it´s an unattractive job...
I slept a lot today... hugs... and to better times!
____
CJ, thank you and best wishes, too! Ack, I want summer...
____
Nicole, crazy with the doctors! The heating fights hard, but the cellar underneath seems to be stronger - as the temps outside.
IT was scary! Looking forward to your makingg of!
____
Gillena, the heating tries it´s best. Being old and sick sucks! ;-) To love!
I worry about the furnace all winter. I hope that you feel better this weekend. I never read It but Charlotte's Web is one of my all-time favourites.
Hope you get better soon Iris. No heating while suffering from a cold sounds horrid. Take care, Mxx
I hear it might get pretty cold over weekend here.
Coffee is on and stay safe
so sorry you are still suffering a bad cold on your vacation time off-no fun for sure so glad you got your heater working again. that's why at the woods house we had two woodstoves-just throw in more logs for warmth-I miss that.
we are getting really really cold here for several days-I started baking cookies tonight-that will keep me busy for sure hugs from the lake
Mulled wine will certainly warm you. I'm glad you got the heating fixed, also glad it is just a cold not covid.
I remember reading the book "IT" years ago and disliked it so much I refused to watch the movie. I think that was the last time I read anything by Stephen King.
RedPat, I think I get a "payback" for not having been sick so long ;-)
Still shitty, but OK, others are off worse.
____
Margaret, all "good" things could be worse. xx
____
Dora, yes, brrrr...
____
Kathy, yes. Unfair. We had an electric one, weeee expensive.
If only I felt like baking (pizza or such). Just sitting, watching TV, surfing.
Well, it could be worse, hugs!
____
River, yes, cold is enough ;-)
Yes, "It" was scary, yet I also watched the movie! Also Pet Cemetary, ewwww.... and some others.
But I also love "Supernatural"!
yep My father always said it could be worse or we could be starving haha
Your story is frightful ... no heat, no doctor, high priced insurance. I hope the end of all this is in sight. At least now you have heat, but you are left with feeling sick. I am so sorry, Iris. Thank goodness for Ingo, right?
Get well, Iris and stay warm and cozy.
Andrea @ From the Sol
I'm glad your heating is back on but sorry you're spending your time off with a cold. I hope you're well soon.
Love the scary face. You need to be in bed, dear.
my daughter liked Supernatural, also Grimm, which I liked better. I still have Grimm on a usb so I can watch it again if I want.
Kathy, oh... starving would not be fun. We are spoiled!
____
Andrea, no, I don´t see an end (but to my cold, pretty soon, please!)
As long as I have Ingo... all good!
____
Divers and Sundry, yes to both, still waiting for the latter..
_____
Elizabeth I cannot sleep! But I gor my work chair to my private PC - ahhh.. comphy!
_____
River, Grimm I have never heard of. Only The Brother´s Grimm, reckon you do not mean that.
I'm so glad the heat is back on. Nothing worse than a cold house when you aren't feeling at all well. But I'm glad it's not Covid.
