Look, either formally secede -- with my enthusiastic Bon voyage! -- or get ready for invocation of the Insurrection Act and civil war by the usual means.

We're not going to have this bullshit where every state has to buckle under leftwing federal diktats but that liberal states are free to secede-in-part whenever the federal government is not leftwing.

If America isn't working for you anymore -- Leave.

We can work out the details later. I suggest that all border counties be permitted to vote to leave or stay on a county-by-county basis. We don't need to keep states intact when we're dividing the country.

Then I suggest we mutually agree that any citizen of one America has the right to move to the other America as a citizen within eight years of division. After eight years, you're a foreign immigrant like any other, and the countries can choose to accept or reject your request for citizenship as they like.

The eight-year period will permit a lot of self-sorting. The internet and automated systems will permit a lot of simple property swaps -- you list your house and its appraised value online so that other people seeking to swap nations can find a near-equivalent home. You and your counterparty agree to trade, probably with one coughing up some cash (because few exchanges of property involve precisely equal values of property).

(Property swaps associated with country-swapping will not be taxed by anyone.)

We fashion an automated system to help businesses relocate -- if a dentist wants to swap countries, he'll need to know which areas need dentists and which have too many.

We leave it to most people to figure out for themselves if they want to move immediately, or wait and see, or whatever.

But you got eight years to decide, and then we build that Big Beautiful Wall.

And what about people who can't make up their minds in eight years...? Well, if they can't make up their minds in eight fucking years, then it's not a very important choice for them, and they can sit their lazy indecisive asses where they started.

I only want go-getters and self-starters in the Real America, anyway.

And then we go our separate ways -- forever.
