Kobo Three years    Shortly after I signed on to Amazon 's site, I joined a site in Toronto  called Kobo . I thought this site would be a good addition to my sales outlets https://store.kobobooks.com/search?Query=Alan%20Place&ac=1&acp=Alan%20Place  - I was wrong! It is three years since I joined Kobo, and as I haven't reached the $10 minimum I haven't earned a dime.  The situation is so dire, I am at the point where I am willing to buy my own books, so I can get something from them and end this torture.  If I reach $10, I won't be putting any more books on this site. The Orient Taiwan The Far East    The new leader - other than the USA - in the spread of my work is Taiwan . I've never had much of a following in Asia, or Australasia. The main sales in this area are on my Kobo page. Yesterday, Taiwan pushed the UK into third place for blog readers.

Is there no stopping Forgestriker I'm still amazed Forgestriker   The titular book of my hit series   http://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/forgestriker-collection.html#.VeYRtCgViko   is again my best selling book of the month.   I have no doubt that being the title book has helped boost its sales , but to remain my best seller for 18 months is some feat in itself. In all this time it only lost the title once - to Sons of Baal.

Booster pack A series not to miss  Forgestriker    Eighteen months on, and my series   http://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/forgestriker-collection.html   is still selling well, this week all SEVEN books have sold. I don't know what I did what I did right, but hopefully my new scifi story will do half as well. 

Teens and a mystery Three years ago I wrote this teen romance , I never expected the book to sell, after all a grown man writing teen romances - the idea amazes the brain. Debbys' Beau https://www.draft2digital.com/book/34032   has gone on to sell more copies than my last novella - A Sailors' Love   https://www.draft2digital.com/book/34522 . The two stories couldn't be further apart if they tried.  I wrote DB in an afternoon, never expecting it to sell. I lived, loved and breathed ASL for over 14 months, expecting sales , and a possible sequel. As it turned out, DB will be the one with the sequel. 

What you get From the writer #amwriting  I write because I used to believe I was a good story teller, from my school days I was told I could tell good stories; I thought it would be nice if this ability made me a little money. Outside my sci-fi series Forgestriker this hasn't been the case- in fact only the first three books of the series garnered any real sales.   To write a page of about 300 words takes me about an hour - on a good day - and I don't get many good days these days.  #amreading   Two of my books on Barnes & Noble have been classed as rip-offs, and one person accused me of being a fraud, and a thief. Honestly, what do you expect for $1? Checkov?   All I see for my hours of work is $0.60c a book, and you wonder why I feel like quitting writing. A dream  In the old days   When I started out, in the days when I thought I might have been better than it turned out I am, one of my personal goals was to sell ten of one  e-book in a day- folly I realise now. Over time that changed to ten a week, and now ten a month.  Forgestriker   This month, I hope a two and a half year sales record will be broken. If Forgestriker sells one more copy it will be the first of my books to sell ten copies in one month. A land no longer The day the air turned black Volcanic explosions   In the summer of 2011, the Northern hemisphere was rocked by a volcanic explosion in the Greenland ice fields; only 18 months earlier, I flew over the area on my way to Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada .  Some of the pictures on this post can never be taken again. This is part of the area which exploded, and grounded the air traffic that day, and for weeks afterwards.   Mathematical equations There is an equation which you can work out with the data - I am not that clever - we were flying at 1,4000 above sea level, and it took us 3/4 of an hour to get across the ice fields from Greenland to the Canadian mainland. Nerja Flying across the ice fields gave me a sensation of isolation; my thoughts went to, if we crashed - apart from my migraine, I would suffer from Snow blindness - a condition similar to drivers who get caught in a white-out. Feeling pleased  I realise in the bigger picture, one sale a day means little, but to me it means a lot. I can't thank my readers too much. I am not quite up to one-a-day, but almost. I usually set a sales (not including freebies) target of 10 a month. With a target of between two or three sales a week, the sales this month (6) have me a week ahead of schedule. Forgestriker- the hit series The seven book series starts with Sons of Baal , this followed by the hit book of the series Forgestriker, Return of the Lost, Terrors of D2, Flying Blind, Double Echo, and finally Caldera awakens . I had planned to bring out an omnibus version in print, including a new beginning, and a thrilling prison break ending, but sales of the last four books have been bad.
