Confusion on eBay

Image
Wrong information causes confusion For the third time this month ( four weeks), I have come across the same issue on eBay ; it isn't a big problem, or even hard to avoid; but it could result in a no-sale for your site, what is the issue? The issue at hand is to show the correct image with the correct information, not a hard option. Last night, I came across a site selling a box set of DVDs; the information on the site said the box was for Sharmila Tagore , yet the image told you it was for Nargis Dutt .  Both ladies were attractive, and in the case of Sharmila she is still very attractive - even in her 80s - however, there is a great difference in the eras they acted in. Nargis was popular in the late 50s, and early 60s; while Sharmila became popular in the 70s featuring in several films by  Satyajit Ray .

Two Satyajit Ray rarities

Unavailable to buy Later today, I will try to transfer two  Satyajit Ray films to DVDs; the first (shown above) s called Monihara . The story which was thought to be lost after it was deleted from a 1961 trilogy is the story of a lady whose love for jewels blinds her to the love of her husband, in the end her addiction to jewellery results n her death in a fire. The segment of the film was deleted because the film was consdered too long for audiences n 1961, it would not matter today. The other film is Aranyer Din Ratri , this film with S harmila Tagore , Aparna Sen , Soumitra Chatterjee , and a young Simi Garewal is about a group of men on holiday n the forest surrounding Calcutta . I have two reasons for doing this, the first is these films will be an addition to a person's collection of films by  Satyajit Ray; I have several myself. The second reason is if the transfer is good, I may put them for sale on eBay ; Aranyer has subtitles , but Monhara does not as it was d...

Sharmila Tagore

Image
A firm favourite? Anyone watching the films I buy from eBay could be mislead to believe my current favourite actress is Sharmila Tagore . I am not disputing I find her very attractive, but she is also an excellent actress; as you will know - if you read this blog - I am more interested in the film story than buying because an attractive lady is in the film, There are some actresses I find attractive, but thier acting does nothing for me - Maduri Dixit , Huma Qureshi , Lara Dutta , and Esha Doel to name a few. Sharmila proves to me, beauty is not the domain of the young.

A bid lost

Image
eBay bidding This week on eBay, I lost a bid for a sereis of three films by  Satyajit Ray , I wasn't upset at losing the bid, why? While the bidding was ongoing, I came across a selection of five films being sold, which included the three I was bidding on, so the loss played into my hands, I vould have paid for the three films, but it would have been a tight two weeks until I get paid again,; this way, I can wait a few weekd, and get a larger selection. Of the five films, there is only one I wouldn't have bought. With selections such as this, I search for the individual films to compare the prices agauinst the bundle.

The latest SCOOP from Spook Cenral

Horror from India An off-chance search for the film  Monihara , by  Satyajit Ray , this afternoon proved useful as I came across a copy of the lost film on YouTube . I'd been searching for a copy for three days, since I found it had been deleted so the film it was a part of could be shown in the cinema; so the Three Girls trilogy became the movie Two Daughters.

Satyajit Ray's only horror movie

Monihara I have made a great find, for me. I have come across a copy of    Satyajit Ray 's only horror movie,  Monihara on YouTube . This film has intrigued me since I found I was deleted to make the Three Girls movie viewable internationaly. The story is a ghost story; the narrator relates the story of how a lady's desire for jewels killed her husaband's desire for her.

Satyajit Ray

The master of Indian Cinema To readers of the blog , my interest in the cinema of India wil come as no surprise. What may come as a surprise is that I am gathering a collection of films by the man many consider India's best director -  Satyajit Ray - these films of the 1960's appeal to me with her simplicity, and beauty, in a time before CGI (computer generated imagery) took over. The films tend to deal with the life of the people, and not superhero worship. They probably wouldn't appeal to viewers these days, as the films deal with the problems arising from a changing society. The image above comes from the film Devi   which is about a father's vision that his daughter is the image of the godess, Devi. The film was the begining of a series if films that  Satyajit Ray filmed with S harmila Tagore , a lady who, in my opininion, is more beautiful now than she was then, and another adage that holds no water for me, is "men don't make passes at ladies who wea...

Confused.com

Naagin Having confided in Wikipedia about the career of Shraddha Kapoor , I am now totally confused. Late last year, I posted a post about the possibility of Ms. Kapoor appearing in the role of Nagin, a shape-shifting snake goddess from India . I said at the time, I would not like to be her, as she was taking on a role synonymous with her aunty, Sridevi . I am not sure if the film is going to be made, or if they changed it into the serial  Naagin . If they did change the film into a serial; it is a terrible error of judgment and would do the young lady no good. I am no judge of the audience, but I see no way you can turn a v g film, into a serial lasting six seasons. The change in format does not alter how I feel, this is the worst adaption I have seen so far; I had to turn it off after only 15 mins as it has now become a teen romance. To add to the confusion, I found that eBay has mistitled a film by Satyajit Ray    https://hereiamattheedge.blogspot.com/2023/10/sa...
