Hope Part Phoenix Part 3 🤞🤞Rising from the ashes of Milton

source google map i can't find one of my zillions of photos other than the one below

my photo of bottom of tree, I have photo of this magnificent tree, but can't find them

The Banyan tree we see every day on our walk, the day after Milton. Now it is in pieces stacked all around the property, it did some damage to the house but no sure how much.

these huge stumps are all this is left of the beautiful Banyon Tree
it took 6 weeks to get from above to the two stumps beow.

Google map above is the view from the banyon tree that fell and the two trees to the right fell on that house during the storm and below is how they looked still standing.

how they looked on the 19th, 10 days After Hurricane Milton dumped them on the roof to the house

The stump of one is 6 feet wide, you can see the height by looking at my precious Beau who is now loving his walks because the streets are line with trees down on both sides and he smells every inch

Beau and I stopped to talk to the man that lives in this house and while talking I noticed HOPE springing from one of the stumps.

I titled this Hope, only because as we walked this week, the yard is clear but for 3 big stumps.
The green growing from the dead stump is hope. There is sad part of this Phoenix Rising from the Ashes.
I asked the owner why the stumps did not go when they picked up the rest of the trees. The answer for both his house and the Banyon is......
He is arguing with the insurance company about the stumps. They paid for removing the tree off the roof and the rest of the tree was hauled off by contractor who are removing what they can. These 4 stumps are too big and require more cutting to fit in the trucks.
that is not covered.

Trees to You from Me... finish nature friday

Ginny asked if one of the trees in last week's photos was a banyan. No, but the one above I found this week end is a banyan, we found these on our Sunday morning drive Beau to the Park and then for a ride. Most of the trees below are live oaks of different types.

OOPS! I found another Spanish house.. can't help myself

Banyan Tree and Nature Force

Remember The stump to the Banyan that fell on October 26 during Hurricane Ian?

this is What it looked like a few days ago.

enlarge to see how many pieces. it took 8 hour, 2 men to cut these pieces

A few days after the photos, I heard an explosion! then a 2nd one!
I ran out in the back yard, and it was the truck lifting these huge logs
dropping them one by one in dump truck.
Each one went BOOM!

We learned from a neighbor that when the tree turned over, the roots pulled up the water meter and all the pipes, see the white ribbon below? that is where the city is putting new meters
and the owner has to pay for the rest.
this stump turned up on its side and pulled it all out.. they put it back down and now have to figure out how to remove it, 3 weeks and counting to clean up one tree

Today Sunday Nov 13th 2022.
and on the 20th of November still the same stump and still just like this on 12/2/2022

Why We Lost our garage Door

In yesterday's post, I told you the two-story home that backs up to our yard, the tree was gone from our view.

Above is how it looks now; the trunk is the largest I have ever seen

These are two of my photos of the tree taken on my dog walks with Big Boy 2 years ago.
Click on photos to see just how enormous it was.
This tree fell accross the street, missed two houses and 4 cars. They had to stand the stump back up to get all the limbs off. it took them five days to get it to the stump at the top.

The photo below is from Google maps.

We took a drive with Beau in our neighborhood,
One side is bright/other dark because it was slanted early am sun.
to our left nothing, to our right the whole street piled with debris

Some streets damage on both sides, others none at all.

Ian whipped his tail, and grabbed one side or the other of the street but on our street,
he took both sides of the street

Above is our street, 3 blocks from us, you can see the piles on left and Ian took down 3 city blocks of 8 foot steel fencing, that surrounds the golf course.
He literally blew the fence flat, flatter that above right.

House above is directly across from us, the 4 yellow circles are a light pole and 3 trees down,
below is 2 palms down, the tall one stood, but lost all but one of the fronds.

Ian came across them and to us and behind us to the big Banyan and took down 5 trees and a pole, kicked our garage door in, and
went over our house, leaving our trees standing except for the 1/4 tree he snapped off the tree in our back yard and blew down the enormous banyan.

all over town, we see a block of this and a block with nothing.
It was like his tail winds were picking and kicking one place and not another.
with all of this no one lost their home or cars. Amazing!

Ian was 385 miles wide, the eye was 30 miles south of us.
You can see on the radar, the outer bands were whirling like a giant
whirly gig, one of those whipping tales walloped us and not others.
the red x is us, Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte and Fort myers took the brunt of the storm and there are thousands of homes that are no more.

Fig, Ficus or Banyan on Nature Friday

Our home is about 20 minute drive from Selby Gardens. The trees today are Fig, Ficus, Banyan, all the same family and are from 2009-2010 archives.

The children playing give perspective to these beautiful, monstrous trees.
they also grow wild many of our preserves and a few around our city.

The red X, left corner my first Apartment here, Now A Senior Retirment Community for the Rich Folks.

The big red circle WAS the oldest and largest tree like the photo above, I covered the whole block and was there before I was born. Gone! they bulldozed it and paved it into a parking lot and built a small business center. A century old Tree Gone!

Inside the red circle was a tree much larger than the ones above the graphic.

My Feedly news gave me this article  this week.
Greenhouse gases reach levels not seen in over 4 million years
Removing grass and green living trees are a huge cause of these levels. Trees remove the Co2 and make the levels of gases drop. Remove the trees, the levels grow.
Removing trees and green living plants has lead us to the Heat and Cold we are now having on our planet.

Mall Ride continued

We passed this gorgeous Banyan tree and turned the corner to the east and

There it was the sun breaking and the next turn we found
the Fair had come to town and was sprawled all over the  abandoned parking lot.
What a great place to put it.

NOPE! I would not ride any of these, but I would go and Snap my Mad Self to smithereens taking photos.
And listen to the wild music and kids screaming and smell the popcorn and cotton candy.
Blog Fodder Found!!! HOO RAY!

City Walkabout - Banyan Tree

Banyan Trees also known as Strangler figs, are a common sight here in our town.. These are 2 of the ones on my City Walkabout. We have one in our Jungle.

There are many different types, not sure what this one is.. this is what Wikipedia on Banyans says

Click Here to see other types that I have in former posts on these Amazing Trees.
