Mexican Petunia..Mosaic Monday

 Facts You Need to Know...

1. Death is the number one killer in the world.
2. Life is sexually transmitted
3. don't worry about old age, it doesn't last that long.
4. Good health is merely the slowest possible way one can die.
Yes...I got this off the internet.

The only edits to these Mexican Petunias, is to add them in a mosaic... straight out of the camera from my yard to your computer.

Flowers Inside and Outside the box...

I read Flower Power on What Karen Sees, and in lesson 1. she said...Literally, get down close and shoot sideways or up.... Above and below are my kings mantle that are blooming and I took these in my normal MadSnapper way.....they are INSIDE the Box..

Tropical Kings Mantle is a shrub and is also called Bush Clock Vine

below is my version of OUTSIDE the Box

my personal favorite

I tweaked the lesson because I can't get down or back up, so I literally held my camera up, under, over and on top of the flowers, I call these Blind Shots, since I could not see what I was getting. I left them just as they came out of the camera. no edits no crops, just re sized for web

can you find the ooops?

PS... this post is my sneaky way of putting yet more of my purple flowers on my post when I said last year I was done showing these flowers.

With A Passion

One Lone Passion flower on top of the fence, the last hoo rah until next summer. I was shocked to see this flower, the vine is dying and the leaves have been decimated by the caterpillars, but there it sat, waiting for me.

It has said the color purple shows good judgment and if you surround yourself with it, you will feel Peace.

24 hours later, the flower closes.....

Goodbye purple passion, see you next year when you come back to become the incubator for our Gulf Fritterary butterfly population.

Purple Power Flower

Kings Mantle is it's name, Purple Power Flower is it's game. The day after the rain, it was covered in around 100 blossoms, but this one was hanging off by itself, calling my name.

I have no idea where my thoughts come from, but a couple days ago this popped in my head.

When we are on skis, we are skiing, on a sled we are sledding, on skates we are skating, but when we are in a car we are riding, not carring or in a truck we are trucking not riding. When we are in a plane we are flying not planing. Go Figure the English language.

one thought led to another and I thought when mother was canning the produce from daddy's garden, she was canning it not Jarring it although she was putting it in glass jars.

Also when she put the veggies in the freezer, she was Putting Up peas, although she was really putting them down in the chest freezer, not UP.

Purple Orchid Tree

Bauhinia purpurea: Purple Orchid Tree, a commons sight here in Florida. It can grow as high as 30 to 35 feet and at times is solid flower, but in January there are not as many blooms

The tree is native to India and China and is very invasive. It is related to Red-bud and Jerusalem Thorn tree, both of which are common here also.

Remember the Nightshade?

If you follow my blog you might remember the stunning Double Purple Trumpet that is in the deadly Nightshade family.   The pod above is what happened after it quick blooming.
 First a green pod
then it sprouted little black nubby thingy's

Then it literally exploded these seeds all over the ground, it has been putting out seeds for a month now and still has many pods on it.

the quote  Only the Good die young, fits the trumpet and the pencil cactus in below photo that I snagged from the Internet.. the trumpet spreads itself and so does the cactus and they are both deadly to animals and humans.
Internet Photo above, ours is GONE as of today

We found by accident we have a deadly plant in the yard since Hubby tangles with it 2 weeks ago. He had the weed whacker whacking  and got in the Pencil Cactus. That cactus has been there since 1990, when I brought home a piece I found laying on the ground. it has at times been taller than my head and has been moved twice.

The weed eater hit a couple of pieces and slung the white milky juice all over Hubby's chest and arms. I was sitting here at the computer and he screamed in the back door, Bring Soap HURRY. I grabbed the Dawn and ran outside and he was dancing around and hollering and washing himself. We dawn soaped him, twice, i poured a bucket of warm vinegar water on him and handed him a Benadryl. we soaped again and he got the pool. he was in agony and i wanted to take him to the ER. he had raised welts and a rash that took 13 days to go away.
I Googled the plant and found it is deadly, eaten or the milky stuff and can blind if in eyes and even kill and has been used on the end of poison arrows. We are blessed it did not get in his eyes or that one of the dogs did not get in it. today he put on gloves and carefully removed it forever more.

Purple Trumpet

We moved the Purple Trumpet to the front yard when we found it was a member of the Deadly Nightshade family, to protect our dogs from harm. It has 7 blooms today, and because it in full shade, the color changed.
Click Here    and Here to see the difference if you missed the post. or check out label Purple Trumpet on side bar.   Photos taken 8/22/2011

The view from our living room window is much improved by this 5 foot tall plant and its 7 blooms

Remember this song?

Passion Plant -Macro

While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication, Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other."

He addressed the man, "Can you describe your wife's favorite flower?"
Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's self-rising, isn't it?"
The rest of the story gets rather ugly, so I'll stop right here.

I took these photos and a few days later, every single bud and flower disappeared. only the leaves and stems are left and we have no idea what happened. That was on Wed of last week, and on Thursday every single one of the buds on the Double Purple Trumpet are gone.  Shades of Twilight Zone....

Million Bells True color

the true color of the Million Bells with the naked eye is Bright Purple, as in color wheel purple. I did a little tweaking in PhotoShop to get an example, to show they are not blue. the camera sees blue.
