The Great Fruit Ball

Lila and Berrylicious at The Great Fruit Ball

Madsnapper input the ideas and my ghostwriter, Bing CoPilot wrote the poem, Designer AI created the dancing berries.

Berrylicious at The Great Fruit Ball

Once upon a time in the whimsical land of Berryville, there existed a plump and jolly strawberry named Berrylicious. Unlike other strawberries, Berrylicious had a secret: he loved to dance.

Every morning, as the sun peeked over the strawberry fields, Berrylicious would sway to the rhythm of the wind. His leaves would flutter like tiny green skirts, and his seeds would twirl in delight. The other fruits would gather around, their eyes wide with wonder, as Berrylicious spun and dipped.

“Look at him go!” exclaimed Peachy, the peach with a penchant for pirouettes. “He’s the sweetest dancer in the orchard!”

And indeed, Berrylicious was a sight to behold. His red skin glowed like a sunset, and his stem wiggled like a leafy tail. His smile was as wide as the horizon, and his laughter bubbled like fizzy soda.

One day, a grand event was announced: the Great Fruit Ball. Fruits from all corners of Berryville would gather under the twinkling starfruit chandeliers to dance the night away. Berrylicious’s heart skipped a beat. He had dreamed of this moment—a chance to showcase his moves on the grandest stage.

But there was a problem: Berrylicious had never danced with a partner. He practiced his spins and hops alone, imagining a graceful raspberry or a sassy blueberry by his side. Yet, when the night of the ball arrived, he found himself partnerless.

As the music began, Berrylicious hesitated near the punch bowl. The apples waltzed, the grapes tangoed, and the watermelons cha-cha-cha-ed. But Berrylicious stood there, his leaves drooping.

Just then, a soft voice whispered, “May I have this dance?”

Berrylicious turned to find Lila, a delicate strawberry with a blush-pink hue. Her seeds sparkled like stardust, and her stem curled like a ribbon. She was the most enchanting fruit he had ever seen.

“Of course!” Berrylicious stammered, his seeds doing a jitterbug of excitement.

And so, they swirled across the dance floor. Berrylicious led with flair, twirling Lila under the moonlight. They salsaed between the raspberry bushes, wiggled past the pineapple palms, and even attempted a daring grapevine step.

The other fruits watched in awe. “Look at Berrylicious!” Peachy exclaimed. “He’s found his berry best dance partner!”

As the night wore on, Berrylicious and Lila laughed, dipped, and spun. Their dance was a blend of sweetness and grace, like a strawberry dipped in chocolate. The stars twinkled in approval, and the fireflies clapped their tiny wings.

When the final notes played, Berrylicious dipped Lila low, their stems touching. “Thank you for the dance,” he whispered.

Lila blushed. “No, thank you,” she replied. “You’ve made my seeds skip a beat.”

And so, the dancing strawberry and the blushing strawberry became the talk of Berryville. They danced at every moonlit soirée, their love story written in twirls and giggles.

As for the Great Fruit Ball, it was remembered as the night when Berrylicious and Lila stole the show—a strawberry and a dance that became legend. And if you listen closely on warm summer nights, you might still hear the echo of their laughter, carried by the wind:

“Dance, my sweet Berrylicious,” it whispers. “Dance like no one’s watching, and love like every seed matters.” 🍓💃

What is Bigger than a Strawberry?

I could not pass up a photo of the largest strawberry I have ever seen, there were 2 in the box. I found really ripe strawberries on sale for a $2.00 a basket, sign said, 3.99 buy one, get one free. They were delish, but the big one was not as good as the others, I sliced them and froze them for my fruit smoothies. Inspired by a berry the size of my coffee cup, my mad brain kicked into gear. I asked Bing to create a dancing strawberry and write a joke to go with it..

Why did the chubby strawberry become the life of the fruit party? 🍓

Because it had the berry best moves on the dance floor and a juicy smile that couldn’t be beet! 😄

Good News!

Good News! I shopped alone Saturday.
The really good news is Almost every item I picked up had gone down in price.
The cute young Baby Boy that was stocking the eggs, saw me pick mine up and spoke.
Did you check the price? I said No, I need the eggs,
he smiled really big and said, LOOK pointing at the price.
$2.30
What???!!!!
Down from last week $4:30
We chatted.
He is 28, has lost a LOT of weight, he has, I noticed.
Eggs are his main source of protein, and milk was down by 1.00.
He boils the eggs and keeps them ready to eat, he shared recipes.
We discussed the world conditions of FOOD.
 and he said.
We don't want a raise; we want the prices of food to go down.
they up the prices, up our pay and we can't afford the new prices.
He said he asked the man at McDonalds what happened to the DOLLAR menu.
and the answer was, I had to drop it, to pay the higher rate of pay to employees.
He said did you notice the shelves are FULL?
Yes, I did.
See that and pointed at a flat stacked higher than my head, and said, we got 3 times
that in last night. The entire store got 3 Times what we have been getting.
I will skip the rest, we talked for about 5 minutes.

I love our stockers; I go in at 6 am when it opens, and they work all night and get off at 7.
Some of them I have known since the store opened more than 20 years ago.

Guess what the price of fresh picked strawberries was!
$2.38 down from $3.78 last week.
These were picked about 70 miles from our house and that big one above measured.
at over 2 inches.
Fresh Pineapple down One Dollar
Sweet Potato and baking Potato, down from 1.74 for one to .74
Good news
Have you seen a change in prices?

Strawberry

I bought a container of strawberries, most were even bigger than this one. I like strawberries at room temperature and remembered that as a child when abused by being FORCED to pick strawberries, I would put one warmed by the sun berry in my mouth and two in the bucket.
If you zap your strawberry in microwave, for 3 seconds or 5 seconds IT IS DELISIOUS.

I found 8 prior posts about strawberries. And decided to add the one from January 2010 here today..

It might help you understand what I posted this week about my comment about being married to a Yankee.

Below is post from archives...Jan 2010

I am a 7th generation Southern Born Rebel on my Fathers side with one Great Great Great Grandfather from Scotland on my mothers side and the rest of the ancestors were all from the South. Nary a yankee among us.

What is more Southern than Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Icing and Fresh Strawberries?

The War Between The States, also called The Civil War, ended in 1865. My Dad's Grandfather died at Shiloh. You might say I was raised in Dixie and no one in my family ever forgot The War. When I was 17, I dated a boy from Connecticut and my grand mother  had a hissy fit . That is Southern Talk for very upset.
In 1985 I married a Yankee from Pennsylvania. We have over the last 25 years had many an argument over sayings and words. some of you will remember the  Rock, Stone, Pebble post from Nov 09.

I say the road is Blacktop, he says it is Macadam
I say the bug is a Doodle Bug or Roly Poly, he says it is a Pill Bug
I say I have a stitch in my side when I run (if I run, ha ha) he says he has a sticker in his side.
A sticker to me is a little piece of something in my foot that daddy had to dig out because I would not wear my shoes.

my inspiration for this post today came when I found this test on-line.

"Are you a Rebel or a Yankee Test" (take if and see what you are if you dare) if you are from another country, take it any way and see what it says about you. let me know what you are. Note: I also took The Advanced Test.

My test said:
"you are 96 % Dixie Rebel. Is General Lee your grandfather?"
Bobs test said
"you are 17% Dixie Rebel. Wow! you are a duke of Yankdom."

this means I am rubbing off on him and he is now only 83 % Yankee! it took 25 years to do that, so how many years will it take to make him a Dixie Rebel? you do the math.

Sunrise........

sunrise from our street, walking Big last week.
We are awake at 4am guzzling coffee in bed, up at 5 am, eat breakfast at 6:30 and leave for our walk with Big Boy at 7 am.

Our Covid-19 Stay At Home day starts early. I find myself glancing at the clock between emails and reading on blogs. It's 8:43, I think, I thought it was 10 am and time for my snack. I look again and it is 9:15. I think, I can't eat until 10.... the time slows down. Finally 10 rolls around and I eat fresh pineapple and strawberries. now I have until NOON before I can eat lunch.  I watch the clock. Time has come to a stand still. I find myself thinking of Food all the time... I thought I had conquered it 3 years ago. Here it is Back. I wanted to put my feelings into a poem, but I got stuck.

Can you add a couple of lines to my poem?

My days are longer,
yet I am not stronger,
I think of food,
wanting to elevate my mood.

Finally I have nature on nature Friday. YAY!
can you see Bob and Big Boy?

MadSnapper Saturday TALE

Our Saturday is always a busy one, we do the floors, I go to WM for weekly supplies while the sheets from the bed are drying, they go in the washer at 5 AM when we get up. In the dryer before I back out of the garage.  Bob takes Big for his walk and watches TV..

This Saturday started early, I woke to the sound of a KNOCK! Knock! Knock! 3 times and thought what NOW?  I eased down the hall just in case the serial killer was already in the house trying to wake me up in order to get me to creep walk down the hall. 😜

The noise was coming from the kitchen, not the front door.

Imagine my surprise as I rounded the corner into the living room and it was the coffee maker that had been on The List for a vinegar cleanse for a week.

The racket would raise the dead, but of course Bob with hearing aids out would

A. not know if it was a serial killer. B. not hear the knocking noise and C. would not care either way.

 Said list was:
Run Vinegar through pot...  (not necessary to write which pot, but that might change soon)
Sheets Back on Bed
Boil Big's Weekly supply of eggs (he gets one a day)

As I put away the last of the supplies  I added to the list, Slice Strawberries, Chop Pineapple, Wash Grapes

Poured my last cup of coffee to clear the pot, added the vinegar and as the smell wafted through the house, causing the coffee to taste like vinegar, I put the eggs on to boil, started to hit the computer for emails and realized I am not allowed to leave the kitchen while the stove on... (not that I have ever boiled the water out of the eggs)

Deciding to do the kitchen list first while eggs boiled, I used the sprayer to clean the strawberries and grapes and suddenly smelled  KEROSENE....   to be continued

Strawberriy Kabobs

It is strawberry season here in Florida and Wal-Mart has local strawberries as big as my palm. In a prior post I told you my food plan includes cooked apples. By accident I discovered Fruit Kabobs.

I had sliced strawberries, fresh pineapple and cooked apples, all in 3 small containers. to MAKE room in the fridge I dumpet the three together. OH MY WORD! take a fork or tooth pick, stab a strawberry slice, a pineapple chunk and a slice of apple.... YUM! Bob and I loved it so much, now I keep them together in the fridge on purpose.

Recipe for Cooked apples in PRIOR POST

Below is a photo of my newest find. Stevia Sweet Drops, this one is caramel, but it comes in other flavors. I drop it in coffee, in hot chocolate, and also put it in my frozen oatmeal. If you try it, I can tell you a little goes a long way...  I AM AT TOPS meeting this morning. see you later in the day

Apples N Strawberries OH MY!

We live in Florida, local strawberries are IN season. OH YUM! Since I gave up processed sugar a year ago, my go to sweet desires are from fresh fruit. Each week, I peel a five pound bag of apples, slice, sprinkle with lots of cinnamon, sprinkle 1 pkg. sweet n low, a dash of water and microwave in a covered dish for 5 minute, stir, 4 minutes and stir.
We keep it in the fridge for eating cold or reheat and eat for dessert.
Last week I bought fresh strawberries and sliced and put in a container for the week.
Half way through the week I needed more fridge space and dumped the two together, stirred the cinnamon juice on the strawberries and OH MY!
This week I just added them together to start with.
PS. do not cook the strawberries!
This is America and all warnings have to be posted.

You are Berry special, and Berry Nice to read all this. I thank you Berry Much for stopping by.

Strawberries Strawberries Strawberries

Our local strawberries are in now and I bought 2 pounds of these wonderful berries, ripened on the vines for $2.48 this week.

When I was 12 my parents were so cruel to me, they made me PICK STRAWBERRIES.. I thought they were cruel, but I paid them back by eating one and putting one in my basket and on and on....and they were FREE.. they also made me pick wild blackberries... Now I wish I had access to them

(I also had to pick tomatoes, beans, peas and dig potatoes.. and shell them, peel them and shuck corn.)

Strawberries are a big deal here, we even have a Queen and her court and I am not in that photo... how could that happen?

This is the link to our Florida Strawberry Festival  if you would like to see all the fun they have. It is about an hour drive from us.

ADDING AN UPDATE... I just went to visit Molly The Wally and am ROFLMAO... if you need a laugh visit her today.
