Catchup. - Nov 1st-9th

Nov 1st

 Nov 2nd

After numerous Dr appointments over the past three years, about my sporadic pain and an xray pointing to a couple compressed vertebrae, sciatic and lots of arthritis, was basically told to find nonsurgical solutions. Prior to my vacation I was referred to a sports Dr and hopefully a cortisone shot, but not in time to relieve painful movements. Finally July 30th I had a consultation and was told no shot in the hip as the pain stems from my lower back and requested an MRI. On Thursday I had a call from Boundary Trails for a Sunday 2pm MRI.

I pray some kind of solution results from this. Yes I've done physio and it helps but it's not a fix and I don't care to rely on meds and rubs daily. Some days I'm not even sewing!!!

Nov 4th

Oooohhhhh I'd like to make this on a smaller scale though!!!

Nov 7th

DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!! 😪

It's been FIVE days without hot water!!! There better be some when I get home from my Craft Sale so I can soak these sore old bones!!!!

We're set up! Ready to welcome whomever ventures to visit this Craft Sale.

Yeah after 5 days we now have HOT water! BUT watch it as it's steaming HOT - ridiculous. I feel bad for those with children as it scalding hot.

Catchup - Nov 16th - St. Thomas/London

Good morning! After a slight power failure first thing, coffee and fresh blueberry scone, Orio took me on a slight tour around St. Thomas before dropping me off at Deana's craft sale!

Nature Conservatory on the way.

Deana

And here finally are my orders from Shuttle by Design since April 2022 that stockpiled at Ginny's/Deana's till this visit. AND the girls gifted me a special tatting pouch, needless to say I transferred my stuff ready for the tatting session at the Library this afternoon!

A special get together today at the Library with 12 tatters chit chatting, sharing and tatting together! I was even able to buy two balls of Snow White Lizbeth 20 at a great price from Susan. I'd met her at the Fringe Elements tatting conference in Cambridge and she drove me back to Mississauga. Lovely!!!

Thank you Deana for your hospitality!!!

Catchup - Jan 15th-23rd

Jan 15th

I'm relaxing bodywise after the quilting retreat weekend today but my mind is a whirling with the 2024 PFA postcard swap topics. Yes I've chosen my months/topics and even jotted down my ideas for each! Hopefully they turn out as planned.

So January is "Paris" and you know I've recently been there, so that was an easy one for me, especially after finishing the set of "Take me to Paris" placemats January 8th, 2023! Coincidence??? So my idea is prepped ready for embellishing.

Jann 16th

Today was a visit with Sylvia, some puzzle time and then to finish off my PFA swap postcard. I used 2 strands of floss to embellish the Eiffle Tower, the words and the outlined flower. I was debating cutting off the "Take me to" and the butterfly/flower on the right to make it fit postcard 4 x 6" size. Sylvia liked it as is, so I'm going to do my first 5 x 7" postcard to swap. Hope it'll be okay for mailing as is, but will also take an envelope just in case so it'll go undeterred.

Jan 17th

Right on!!!  Thank you Susan!!!

Jan 18th

This is a good idea for those with harvested trees.

Well I decided I wanted lunch out and checked with Sylvia who suggested Southdale Village Family Restaurant - great I wanted their veggie skillet muchly!!! YUMMY! Then after a few errands around there we were back to Sylvia's and finished off that difficult puzzle. As you can see we were looking for different shades initially but then followed the puzzle. Now it's back in her Common Room and next will be my Crazy Quilted puzzle! Soon!!!

Jan 21stt

Hmmm guess these tiny leaves got up here from those strong wind gusts yesterday that also had my bathroom rooftop fan flap just a flapping and squealing! But I wonder where they got carried away from?

Jan 23rd

While out on errands I came across a fairly new shop and wished I'd had more time to browse. Oh well I did enough damage in the short time I was inside. She's also speer heading this market for handmade vendors.

Then off to Sylvia's for a couple hours on my puzzle from hell!

Then once home I completed my PFA Swap fabric postcard. I used scraps from my January 2023 Take me to Paris placemats (still a WIP). Then over embroidered the Eiffel Tower to the colour they were painting it to when I visited in July. Then outlined the large flower and letters. Sylvia suggested I fill in Paris and I've decided I really liked that idea! She also said to leave it 5x7" instead of my usual 4x6" size I work with. I hope the recipient likes it as much as I do!

WOW!!!  It didn't last long!

During tonight's ZOOM with Melissa's sewing/chatting group I finally finished off blocks 9 and 10 of ACQ mystery BOM.

Catchup - Nov 22nd-27th

Nov 22nd

Today I received my PFAswap, this lovely Christmas silk ribbon postcard from Zoe, a.k. Skyfire, of Montana, USA. She says it's her first attempt with ribbon. I also love the holiday plaid she bound it with. I say she made an awesome card!!! Thank you Zoe!

I was so pleased with myself today! See I woke feeling more myself and went out with two walking sticks and basically used them as "just in case" than needed for support. Then I stopped into Sylvia's and stitched part of the afternoon before starting to feel achy so headed home to relax! Ohhhh I hope this getting better continues!

Nov 23rd

Oooohhhhhh what else can happen!!! I'm so annoyed and fed up! My shower head (probably 8 years - guess it's old) just cracked and water in all directions. So now my relaxing day is interrupted to go get another telephone shower!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!! 😕

Nov 25th

That explains why I'm wiped out after a long day or retreat days of quilting!!!

Nov 27th

I think I forgot to post Sylvia's recent commissioned fabric art/thread painted landscape hanger. I love it!!!

Okay I felt GOOD Saturday so went out with Sylvia to a few craft sales and continued good til mid-afternoon then got achy.

Sunday was not good, ached in different places so relaxed most of the day, with a few hours sewing at Sylvia's (she also needed a piece of my Canada fabric for another project), before heading home.

Ohhhh I did not like the smaller HSTs in the ACQ mystery quilt project so undid the two and rearranged them into Flying Geese, love this idea, so redid the picture.

This is the original layout for mini HSTs.
Blocks 1, 2 and 3.

This is re redone HSTs into Flying Geese.

Blocks 4 and 5.

Today, Monday, I felt GOOD again so picked up Edna and returned our boots that weren't what we thought they'd be like, then Oakwood for our borscht and cheese toast before heading to St Vital to check out boots there too. Zippo, and another long day, feeling achy, headed for home!
