Catchup - Jan 30th-Feb 6th

Jan 30th

WOW it was foggy this morning!  After a couple appointments I went over to Sylvia's and did more puzzle!  This is the first time we haven't set the border first, just too difficult!  So we are setting various stars and hope to anchor in place and easier to do the border, which is exactly the same two colours and same width of edging in each piece!!!

Feb 1st

Well yesterday and today I'm fighting a horrible coughing, sore throat, plugged ears and drippy nose!!! I've been drugged up but had to go replenish my stock hopefully stopping this bug!!! Sylvia and I missed our sewing day at Assiniboine Circle Quilters and I a visit with Pat etc, as I'm sicko but not Covid thank goodness!!! I'm definitely on shaky ground and glad my shopping was quick!!! In and out!!!

Nothing but watching the backlog of hockey, eyes too teary for stitching, a little puzzle setting but slow going!!!

Feb 2nd

Damn I thought I was feeling better this morning! Nope, feeling weak but with lessened coughing, sneezing and drippy nose BUT my sciatic in both hips is acting up! Enough already!!!!!

Feb 3rd

Well my head is clearing some so worked a bit more on the puzzle. Slowly but surely it's getting there.

Feb 4th

Well this cold is winding down but today was hell with the sciatic, even the new lotions and Tylenol Arthritis did not help today. And today I needed to drop off my car for some repairs.

Well all I can say is Urban Garage staff are awesome! Cole I think, after my checking about a ride home but basically not offered, he ran out the door to stop my limping way to the bus on my sticks. He asked where exactly I needed to go, could I wait till another client arrives and he could give me a ride home! He brought me to tears and I said thank you I will gladly wait for a ride. See I wasn't even sure how close I could get to home and how far I'd need to walk afterwards! So a couple hours before the shop closed, I phoned to see if I should start out to the bus and hope to make it in time. WELL he needed to pick up a client and wanted me to wait and he'd pick me up shortly! I am so thankful! Some Tim's in their future!!!

Then talk about an awesome surprise to see Cindy standing there (I needed that hug), her baby for an oil change, and we chatted till they wanted my payment! 🥰

I needed a few groceries afterwards but talk about torture! This was a first time I've sat on the lower section of the cart as I could not stand on shaky legs twice before finished.

Once home I relaxed, had supper and then finished off the puzzle. Sadly two pieces are missing!

Feb 6th

Well I stopped into MPI after the two close to threatening letters demanded I show up. So I did and yes I'll lose my merits even though it was not much of an "accident" but she filed and I am responsible. It took maybe 20 minutes, 6 or so photos taken and out he came with my claim info of $1,400 repair to my license plate holder, slight scratches I didn't see on paint and disconnected plastic grill filler to be replaced! Hmmmm, now to decide whether to get it fixed or not, $200 deductible will be charged if so. He said I may as well get it fixed. Will see!

Nice to meet Sylvia for lunch!  Then home to relax and a load of laundry too!

OMGG talk about a walk down memory lane today!!! See I got a call from an excoworker from mega years ago, from Laura of Technical Services Branch/Farm Machinery Board and at that time I think I was with Economics Branch, but all part of Manitoba Agriculture! WOW!!! Not sure why, but she found the "icing corsage" I made for her baby shower in April 1983, along with her note. WOW!!! So one day we'll meet up for lunch, but she's a better recall of work name changes etc than I do! I still can't believe this! Not bad for 40+ years!!! Well cared for!!!

Catchup - Dec 19th-22nd

Dec 19th

Can you believe it, I double booked my Wednesday and totally messed up my massage appointment. So rescheduled for Jan 2nd - UGGGGH!!!! Then someone else messed up and I landed up taking her appointment yesterday - AWESOME!!!

Then over to Sylvia's for some online fun and puzzle setting! That one was so dang easy, finished maybe in 2 hours. The pieces were like 1.5 inches, a sinch to do!

Dec 20th

Today up early to Urban Garage to get my new tires on!

All done!!!

WOW!!! Nice ride and at stop lights only ONCE did the skidding light come on instead of nearly each icy corner. In the new year it'll be the back brakes and hopefully that's it for major maintenance for awhile. I totally love the service here!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pat!!! 🎉🎂💞

After my tires got replaced, I picked up Edna and headed to Joey's on Kenaston to lunch with Pat, Randy, his Mom Edith, Byran, Sylvia and us last to arrive! LLovely lunch and visit but GOSH DARN it was NOISY!!!

And DANG Amanda showed me to select Portraits and that way blurry the background! DUH!!! I forgot to!!!

Dec 21st

I'm again on a tatted dragonfly mission. Basically using Riet's Dragonfly pattern with some of my adaptations. Top left unknown thread, the rest I used blues Parlak Oren Bayan Dantel Ipigi 50, blues/mauve 185 Lizbeth 20, dark greens 167 Lizbeth 20 and botton right greens/brown 179 Lizbeth 20.

So I gifted my car a Christmas present!!! Yeppers since it was warmer I took it to Chamois for a thorough cleaning, in and out, then off to Winnipeg Square heated parkadefor another wipe down, doors open heater and fan full blast for a half hour at least. It's so pretty again!!!

Then back home for another crazy quilted postcard and more tatting embellishments for it, probably finished tomorrow.

Dec 22nd

I did lots of shopping there and remember those slight bumps in the warehouse floors especially!

I've completed the embellishments on my PFA swap postcard. For the embroidery I used gifted Rajmahal Art Silk threads (very slippery), Lizbeth #124 size 20 for my tatting and dismantled a bracelet for the hummingbird charm.

Now to pick up my fixed laptop today, prep n print off my back and try finish it for mail off in the New Year!!!

After picking up my now working laptop and visiting Angela (was gifted a tray of her cookies - Yummy), I finally set up Angie's gifted tree which does not have lights attached - I'm drained!

Next year I'll put the tree on a chair, wind lights on, then up onto the table! I'm relaxing now. Figured if I'm home I should put the tree up with a small amount of her decorations and mine that are out and around all year! I should have put my crocheted angel on top, next time. Maybe I'll put them away this year?

Catchup - Jan 6th-7th

Jan 6th

CAA was here 8ish to load up the car and me and off to Urban Garage for my 10am appointment!

Hey ho, hey ho!  Off we go!

I then hitched a bus ride to Sylvia's to wait it out.  Well, at 9:51am I get a call, it's ready for pickup!  HUH!!!  See once in the garage they did hookups and tests AND it's NOT the alternator but a dead 6 year old battery (so wasn't new when I bought the car, unless nearly new assumed as new) which could have been replaced on the 26th by CAA battery assist.  So that was replaced with 5-year warranty without calling as I'd already agreed to a $750 repair bill!  The new alternator was sent back no charge to me!  My bill was $500+ less and now I've my WHEELS back!!!!  I totally love Urban Garage!!!  Thank you!!!

Jan 7th

WOW, WOW, WOW!!!  It was just AWESOME to have my baby back and able to pick up the girls for some walking around the Collection Outlet Mall, lunch at NYF and a bit of shopping for Florence!

Outlet Mall was about 5,000 steps or 3 kms.

AND Pat joined us too, bringing her soon to be rid of huge vase that I said I'd take.  So she took Sylvia home while I took Edna to Polo Park to get her meds for her soon to be other cataract surgery, dropped off my recycle at the depot on Taylor and one quick stop into Walmart before home to relax my aching hip/leg!  We did good but I was the slowest!  😒

Matches beautifully!  😍  Just need to raise flowers 3-4 inches.

Looking down onto snow bank ledge.

Looking straight out.

The flower vase is soooooo much better and sturdier than the flimsy blue one I had tthat kept tipping over when swiffering.  Now to somehow rearrange things so there's once again a larger space between units!

Ohhhhh, and this snow bank has really shrunk, maybe only 6" in height now, but at least 15" in width still hanging over and letting go more and more.  The sun looks awesome on it!

Catchup - April 17th-22nd

April 17th

Nifty!!!!!!

Dang it this time the forecast seems to be more accurate! Yes it's snowing again and supposed to increase into the afternoon and continue all day!

I'm relieved that I've maybe completed the inside quilting on this baby! This is just too much for me to handle even on my Brother! Will check it out in daylight and see how it looks. I still have to quilt the outer border, but that should be easy!

April 18th

I saw this on one of my groups. Will have to show Dr McE that I'm very active when quilting, he'll get a good chuckle.

April 19th

Well another day with appointments and I've just found another benefit of reaching 65 - annual plus 80% covered eye exams - good thing as that's another downer started with aging, eye issues! And found out that most optical places are a drop off for the recycling of old Eyewear through the Cdn Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre CLERC, so another bag is gone outta here!

Also I received a lovely bag of Easter dinner goodies from Pat and family for my supper today and maybe lunch tomorrow! 💞

Once home, I started working on another set of postcards - hexies hand stitched then machine embellished, but these won't be sent out till the other set is completed. 😉🤞 Then I've just gotten another WOW idea for a couple more, then I'll switch to other projects. That would be 11 fabric postcards for the Ukraine refugees support fundraiser from me (minimum donation is $20/postcard at the Ukrainian Museum of Canada). 😘

April 21st

SHEESH another one!!!!

I hope they are wrong the full impact of this one too!!!

I totally agree and if that'll be the case here I won't be shopping there. I still insist a 'cashier' period!

"UPDATE: just heard it's peanuts coverage for vision by MB Health! Will let you know when I get my refund!"

Today was another OHHH surprised events! 😃 First off my TV had picture BUT no sound, deal with that later!

Then off to pick out my new eye glasses! There was my first surprise! An over 65 benefit is Manitoba Health covers a percentage of my glasses, just fill in the form and send it in! AWESOME! I thought getting eye examinations moved to annual and majority covered automatically was GREAT NEWS the other day! Now glasses covered to a set amount too is just WOW!!! I mean I've personal insurance so that was covered 80% to a max $$$, so this is even better!

Then back home and still no TV sound. Checked Shaw troubleshooting for this and VOILA, 5 minutes by myself I have sound back!!! Surprised myself getting that fixed without a long called in wait!

Maybe the rest of my day will continue such! 😉

I played more with the next set of postcards for the Ukraine refugees support fundraiser! I'm very pleased with the first result! 😉 At first I was thinking of an egg shape as the fabric design reminded me of Easter Egg decorations but went with the heart!

April 22nd

After talking with my sister yesterday I worked on this Easter Egg and added beads to flower centers to the other heart and egg too.

Catchup - April 6th-8th

April 6th

What a weird day!  Mother Nature is not sure if it's still winter or should be springtime!   It started out snowing and as I drove my nice clean white car to Charleswood to pick up recycled blue jeans it turned to light rain, you can safely say it's not so clean, but still better than the dirty!  On the way back it was snowing again and I saw this AWESOME looking pirates sailing ship and as I drove by I saw it had a gangplank from the back deck!  WOW what a play centre those kids have!

What?????

OMGG!!!!

I drove up closer for a clear pic.

Once home still snowing and now I'm back to my MPQ ABC Mystery bag quilt and now finished the quilt top and this evening pieced together the backing.  The light and dark fabrics were in the baggie I didn't use them on the front but desperately needed help on the backing.

Pat Speth MAB Blocks #6 and #14!

One quarter closer view!

Opposite quarter closer view!

Leftover fabrics plus backing I bought.

Friday Sylvia will help me sandwich it then it's gung ho quilting it.  Actually my second large one - 65" X 79", hopefully my Brother machine cooperates!  I just might make the deadline with not much fabric left over.

April 7th

Ohhhh I had a very nice understanding Shaw tech in just now!  I am very pleased with the service provided by the call agent and the technician on this last call in!  The best I've ever received!  All old connectors replaced, new PVR box installed (can record 6 shows at a time - YEAH!!!) and new remote.  PLUS he asked a few questions and made suggestions similar to my recordings and set up the box, along with walking me through the new remote buttons.  Then he asked if I wanted my paid box or he could recycle - I said take it please as it had issues anyways.  I also asked what about the older pieces the other tech said I had to call in for return or recycling instructions, did that and was told take to a recycling depot, now those are gone too!  I offered him a cold bottled water early on as it's warm in here but he'd declined.  On the way out he changed his mind and I was glad to give him a bottle, was so thankful for his help!!!

Ohhhh boy I've finished two more of the flannel squares kids quilts today (some from the Trombo stash). These were prepped for the backing blanket type binding brought to the front and stitched in place. A first for me and so proud of myself to be able to finish both by myself after a brief demo from Sylvia awhile back! Pictures posted tomorrow after washing!

April 8th

What a day!!!! I've had a rough week with hip to ankle pain off and on again but I kept busy.  Over to Sylvia's for her help to sandwich my mystery quilt which went very well with the bedrisers to ease my backache! Then lunch together and the afternoon visit planning my quilting design while Sylvia sewed togther the backing she needs.

As promised here are the two ABC quilts I finished off yesterday.

Our afternoon tea was with fresh Easter bread, yummy!!!!

Quilts are all washed and packaged for delivery to ABC today too! Now home to relax and hand stitch!
