Day 3
Talk about a crazy start to my day! First off I heard running water upstair, wait they left an hour ago for Len's cataract surgery, searched but no one around! HMMM!!! Then after my shower I've a nose bleed - haven't had one in years - definitely a weird start to my day. But it did get lots better! I spent it with some Dryden quilters at Tammy's Studio. I thought I'd sew on all the shadow pieces onto my Canada blocks but only managed half! Guess I had a late start or just talked too much! 😂😂😂 Then ordered pizza and made a salad and waited for their return and our supper. Len is good but tired, a long day! Not up to anything much, worked on a difficult puzzle, maybe sew some more strips as it's too early to crash! 🤪

Catch Up - Nov 22nd - 25th
Nov 22nd
Today I'm not doing what I should, instead I tried to tat with size 60 thread (at least I think it is) for miniature dollhouse accessories! Thank you Deana for the book, I think it's one you gave me! Yeah I probably need my head examined, at least it wasn't the size 80 it called for, see the smallest I've gone was size 40 with major difficulty. Not bad though, just tiny starting ring to hold onto!
Nov 23rd
I've heard of a couple men in our groups but this is awesome to see!
Nov 24th
Totally agree with this. Also stop changing other things like our anthem by those fuss pots into making things politically correct. Also you can't change what was done historically, that's maybe a sad fact but still fact, maybe learn to do better from it.
WOW! Going to have to try this out from salvaged sweaters!
Nov 25th
Today was our 9-4 free motion quilting class at Cedar House Quilting with Inez Drummond! I felt bad for everyone as my leaving at 7:50 am, and even early picking up Edna, just got us there for 9 am so it was a bit rushed getting ready! We barely used the 14" practise piece, just jumped right in there on the 14" by WOF sandwiched piece, using Aurafill 50/2 thread. Now if someone would have told me before this class that you can do straight line quilting with an FMQ foot I'd have said "Ahhhh no way Jose!" - but she proved me wrong!
It was a GREAT class with an AWESOME instructor and enthusiast quilters there to learn! I couldn't believe how much I dived right in and tried all she showed us and still more I have to continue to fill in the blanks at home now! Mine will be an inside door hanger, no way am I using it as a runner, putting stuff on it! 😯
Edna too said she learnt so much and will practise at home and who knows we just might take the followup class one day! Thank you Inez for the great class, Helen and Geoffrey for the scrumptious soup, your help and hospitality! Naturally the blue washable marker is the right side, so I also took a picture of the backside to show what it will look like eventually. 😊

MPQ Sewing Day - November 2nd
At MPQ Sewing Saturday with fellow quilters! Thank you Cynthia for the picture of my first circle quilting. Pizza for lunch! And then it's the real deal!
Today some quilters asked about my easy I Spy quilts that I've made and hope to dive back into my bin of novelty fabrics to make more ABC quilts for MPQ and my smaller Aurora group donations. So thought I'd show them again.
While searching my Blog for the years ago I Spy quilts I came across one showing my oil paintings so have to post them all together - not in any particular order!
Edna's still hard at them!
I can do Free Motion circles and the back looks good too!
I'm very happy.
OK here comes circles on the real baby!

My version of a pattern I received at a retreat.
Disappearing Nine Patch version.
My very first I Spy from 2003.

These first two - Yvonne has them.
And this one for me but couldn't replicate the previous ones - that's OK though. 💗
In my kitchen.
In my dining room.
In my entrance.
Was at my office but not hung yet at home.
On my bakers shelf in my living room.
And then I've ventured into fabric thread and acrylic painting with fabric medium.

Dryden Retreat - Day 3
Okay I called it quits when I cut the wrong border then wrong size. Pat finished off her poinsettia basket runner,
Sylvia her swirl runner,
Edna was quilting her placemats
and I finished off the corrected border and called it quits before I made anymore mistakes! I had the blocks and sashings all complete on the third (last one) quilt so hopefully I'll finish it off tomorrow!
We enjoyed a hilarious prompted skit by the good sports, our Vendors!

All our vendors involved in a road trip shop hop skit! Liads of laughter!
All chatting away!
Checking for quilt shop locations.
More chatting!
Ordering at Tim's was different!
Avoiding a moose!
Someone farted!
Quilt shop shopping, need George to pay!
Stopped for speeding! George pleaded his case of a van full of quilters! Was given a warning. Awesome, thank you for the laughter!

Sunday Morning Retreat
OK I'm home from South Beach retreat and aching feet up, resting! Here's the last of the pictures from Sunday morning!
I caught Sylvia doing fussy paper piecing - can't wait to see this finished!
Then Pat had trimmed off her wall hanging last night and this morning sewed the binding on.
I finished off the last four men's shirt blocks, next is the sashing and borders!
Then here's a picture of one of Kat's quilt blocks - going to be real pretty!
Also a picture of those retreaters still here showing off their TrendTex goody bags!
Another year's retreat has ended, anticipation for the next one begins!
