Catchup - Aug 6th-11th

Aug 6th

I decided I needed some comfort food and company!  So I picked up Edna, parked the car at home and we walked over.  That was far enough and glad it was nice out.
Yes it was a lovely Forks visit but 3/4s of the way home I asked Edna if she had her shirt!  Ummm no it's on the chair back there.  Well I was low on energy so I said let's get the car and drive back.  Well thankfully to all for leaving it on the chair and she has her blue Jean shirt back!!!

Aug 7th

Hey sounds ideal for more vertical type growing!

Aug 9th

Tonight I took Edna to see the Asham Stompers at the Metis Pavillion and try some Bannock and jam. Awesome!!!
It was nice to get some input for Stomperfest September long weekend too! Hopefully the weather cooperates so Edna and I can enjoy the day out there!

Aug 10th

Well it may be a wet afternoon but I had a lovely late lunch or early supper with Kathleen Onhasey and Art at Boston Pizza! It was nice to exchange stories on hobbies, beautiful Cuba and some travel incidences! I'm glad she touched base on one of my FB posts and we were able to get together between their plans! 💞 But no hugs just in case!!!
But dang it, it took just about an HOUR to get five blocks and finally the last block was a standstill so I zipped up Memorial, York, Kennedy and across Broadway with the bus that was behind me still at Memorial! Traffic is a standstill just about from Osborne to Main eastbound!!!

Aug 11th

Well finally last night I actually slept normally and not propped up on pillows. Also got woken up briefly with a short coughing spell then back to sleep till morning!  This morning, using the car, I picked up my misplaced OFF, returned my British £s (naturally at a loss and wouldn't take coins - glad I got rid of most) and mailed off my Fringe Tatters exchange too. Glad I'm home feet up!  Now relaxing before making plans for tonight's Pavillion!

So when I felt better after my vacation return I started tatting my exchange bookmark. We were to take an old edging and turn it into a bookmark. Well I selected my favorite Allison Tatted Edging from Be-Stitched. Once I reached the length I wanted, then perused the stitches trying to figure out how to turn and work up the other side after a turning chain. I wanted to keep the right side facing so decided to use a knitting stitch marker to hold the picot on the working shuttle thread, then did the chain in reverse order, then working the ring attaching the bead to the held picot then finished off the ring. YEAH it worked, just to continue all the way up. I did it after a few rippits and am very pleased. I hope my exchange recipient likes it too! It's now on its way to Denmark!

Catchup - July 27th-Aug 1st

July 27th

Damn this flu/cold! This body sure knows when the recommended time to take the meds is nearing cause the last hour is torture coughing spells! Even at 2:30am!!!! So now relaxing after salt water gargle for the sore throat and lovely honey/milk Chai tea to soothe me too. I'm up way too early but now scared to sleep through my appointments. Hopefully I'll crash for an afternoon snooze!!!

Oh it was a long day, first my Chiropractic appointment then picked up lunch to have with Sylvia. Then drove her to her surgeon's follow-up appointment, which he was mega late for and I was running out of stamina and coughing. Yes I was masked and covered my cough. I'm home, medicated and feet up, hopefully a nap!!!

July 29th

Well guess I'm starting to feel better. I'm seeing things around here differently and realized I hadn't posted my "Glad you're back" gift from Pat! She's a sweetie and had me close to crying when I opened it. A lovely 6" cross stitched quilted wall hanging!

July 30th

YEAH finally I know I'm starting to kick this flu/cold out of my system. A whole week of heavy dry just about continuous coughing and chills was long enough.  Now my coughs are not as severe, shorter and definitely less frequent (unless someone makes me laugh) and finally sneezing and blowing the crud outta me!!!!

And I'm thinking of getting my pictures together for the scrapbook so I know I'm feeling better, not 100%, but not desperate. Ohhh and McDs iced coffee and burger was delicious yesterday - 4 weeks since the last one!!!

July 31st

Look what I received from Inga M from Denmark for this quarters Fringe Tatters tatting exchange! It is so delicate looking done in Lizbeth size 20, pattern(?) by Tina Frauberger 1917. I'll be slipping it into a protective sleeve before using as a bookmark.

"For this exchange, a couple of people have suggested a bookmark. Regardless of the season, many of us like to curl up with a good novel or a book full of patterns.
What better way to carefully keep your place than with a tatted bookmark? This has so many possibilities. One idea is to take an older edging pattern and double it back on itself to make a lovely piece, just remember to adjust going around corners or make 2 flat pieces and join them as you work the second side - you'll need picots. Or you could use 2 colours to create an interesting piece. There are patterns available for bookmarks or you could experiment with a flat edging. While you're creating your exchange item, you might want to make a second or third piece to have on hand as a gift."

Aug 1st

Well I KNOW I'm on the mend! Had a better sleep last night till I woke with a coughing fit and thunder! Took more cough meds and back to bed till 11ish!!!! Guess I needed that after the numerous coughing fits the night before!

Ohhhhh and a better gauge is I'm tatting with feet up AND even figured out how to turn back on myself without doing front side and back side tatting! I needed to really concentrate!

New Year's Eve 2020

WOW!!! I wonder if I even remember the carols, never mind can sing them? But I'll try!

GOOD BYE 2020!!!!!!

May 2021 bring you new dreams, new hopes, new experiences and new joys; I'm wishing my family and friends a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Well yesterday while watching/listening to the three games of Junior hockey I tatted a new but very simple pattern, the tree garland posted by Rita Dybdahl Cline! Hmmm, that's what I thought, but dang it, I had at least three rippits, redos, more careful scrutiny before closing next rings, before I finally completed a bookmark. I kinda doubt I'll get as ambitious and make a tatted garland for my tree as Rita did.

Pattern was Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Ornaments 1992 by Mary McCarty.

Well wasn't sure how this year would end after my painfil start! See I decided to change my big board ironing cover, which was a good decision! The bad was putting the hot iron on the mat on the floor so I could arrange all and pressed my outer calf against it! SINGE!!!!!! Ice, polysporin and bandaids to the rescue so I could go out!

Finally a visit with Sylvia as we walked in her area past the Niakawa Country Club and back! Next time we'll try the walking path along Fermor. It was nice winter weather and the road not slippery so we both enjoyed it and hope to do so again, but would rather visit, sew together or just enjoy a puzzle etc! It will happen!

Happy New Years to All!!! 🥂

A lovely end to the "cough" 2020 with this lovely snowball from Kirsten W.H. of Denmark in the Fringe Tatters FB group! I just 💖💖💖💖 this beauty! Thank you very much! I so love these exchanges!

It's hanging off my Pepsi can airplane in front of my micro lights tree on my window.

And while out for a drive this evening I even caught the 7 pm fireworks from the Forks! I wasn't close enough for clear pictures! WOW! I didn't think they'd have them!

Now I'm relaxing with coffee n Baileys watching today's games of the IIHF World Junior Championships.

I 🙏🙏🙏🙏 that 2021 will be loads better so we can all enjoy the awesomeness of life together once again, safe from this pandemic!

Catchup - Nov 13th-17th

 Nov 13th

WOW!!!! Here's an awesome and inexpensive decoration to use up hangers (even wire?) and those excess lights or new Led ones?

Finally my Nespresso online order is picked up and I've enjoyed two cups since. Here's my new "Let It Snow" Snowman mug too, not used yet, maybe with the new Amaretto flavor I ordered for Christmas. And what a perfect use for my peanut butter bear jars, except one is without a top, oh well this larger one works for easy access and my large fish bowl for used capsules!

For some reason the email to say my order was ready for pickup did not get sent out automatically. Luckily I called, she checked and apologized saying it was ready. Now they'll have curbside Polo Park boutique pickup as I refuse to pay $9 shipping when I can pick up and I don't drink enough coffee for free shipping! And another recycling mail back bag too!

I LOVE my Snowmen and here's their new resting place for now! 💓💓💓

One day I'll change that yellow bird for a Chickadee!

Nov 14th

Hmmmm I'm bad!!!! See I totally forgot to make two sets of masks over the past couple months, thought I had time till winter, not so now! Now I've another seven orders of 2-4 each, not bad, but first my other two projects! It's nice to see a variety of colours and prints!

Lovely! Maybe one day I'll use up my stash on some of these.

Nov 15th

Thank you Gayle!

Nov 16th

🙂 He he he!!! 😏 I'm leary starting Karen's through the window l'il red truck hanger so decided to at least do the windows process just to get myself accustomed to the process again! Well it went smoother than I thought so I'm onto Karen's soon. 🤗🤗🤗

This was the first time I'd tried another colour than black - don't care for it! Might still go through that whole process but with black or maybe green to match the outside border I'm planning for mine???

My selected scene.

My chosen window frame.

VOILA all cut out.  Now to carefully place and press to adhere Lite Steam a Seam 2.

Close enough to my liking!
Maybe up a smidge!

Hmmmm, not much material wise for me, but mega wise period, but it would be awesome! 💞💞💞

Nov 17th

Aaaaahhhhhh I miss my friends and all those special events we used to attend that this Covid is cancelling!!!

But I am enjoying the non-rushing around and relaxing down time. Maybe I needed this!

OMGG when ideas pop into my head it's minutes, well maybe a couple of hours and the idea becomes history! Well my second PFA themed swap postcard will be winging it's way to the USA this time! Hope she likes it!

WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I sure hope this spurt of creativity continues for a long while to come! Not only did I do another curbside pickup, this one for Steam a Seam for Karen's and my Through the Window wall hangings but other stuff too. See today I got my various swaps and gifts packaged and tomorrow into the mail! The gifts will be delivered probably later on with social distancing observed! 🤗

The turtle is a free pattern by MC...H and Vidalia a teaching pattern on Georgia Seitz website, are both for my Fringe Tatters exchange for next month. The golden angel, by Wiki45a, is for MPQ ornament exchange and the iridescent one is a thank you gift for a friend. 🤗

Okay guess I'll finish off today with some winter requested masks! Tomorrow I'll start fresh on Karen's hanger! 🤗
