Catchup - Nov 2nd - 5th

Nov 2nd

Today both Sylvia and I took part in the Trapunto from the Front class at ACQ facilitated by Jackie J.  It was awesome, even if I diverted from instructions so I could stretch it onto a painting canvas frame, naturally larger than planned.  Hopefully I've not bitten off more than I can manage!!!

So in class I got all the trapunto sewn in, the 1/2" diagonal quilting lines in the squares marked and all sewn, even in one pass somehow!!!  Then I diagonally marked my 1" grid for the borders before packing up to go home.

At home I finished off marking one corner that got missed and finished off the quilting but took two passes around and then two for the inner sashings.  I was so proud of myself as normally I'd stop at each seam, cut, tie and bury ends!  Jackie showed us how to travel from one section to the neighboring lines and I was very impressed!!!  So I've learnt a few things in this class.  ❤️

WOW!!! Yesterday at ACQ Janet N gave me two baggies stuffed full of 1" and 1.5" squares and widths of various length of strips. And today I decided to match up and mark the 1.5" squares for my next mini project!!! Not sure when it'll be a finished project but thank you Janet!!! I can't believe they are so precisely cut ready for me to use!!!

OHHHHH HOW TRUE!!!!

So three or so hours later I've emptied the dressmaker pins container and maybe half the 1.5" scrappy squares prepped into 189 squares to sew up 378 HSTs. Once sewn up I'll dive back into this baggie and start again, the are lovely fabrics and totally different from my stash, which is very good!

Had a lovely lunch with Aruna at PF Changs, awesome food and company, and she again settled my anxiety about my flight confirmation and answered my queries!

Hey hey hey, it's finished! Oh not labeled as yet! Sylvia helped me with the measuring and trimming of the batting/backing then refreshed my binding knowledge. Once sewn together the two of us stapled the binding to the back, I then used her Tacky glue and anchored the edges around the frame. I LOVE IT!!!

Also a UFO of fabric bought 5 plus years ago, set aside for something special and now it's finished from the Trapunto from the Front class at ACQ past Saturday.

Nov 5th

Lovely visit with Edna at Oakwood for borscht again, then picked Sylvia up and checked out Mook's and Fabricland's sales! I bought 3 pieces for kids quilts for borders n bindings. Then coffee break with the girls before taking all home and now trying to relax.

Not sure how much as things are moving fast in booking my Toronto escape! Sure looking forward to seeing Nancy, Maria, Deana (maybe Ginny n others) and relaxing with Yvonne n John before returning home!!! 🥰

Honestly, I hate "online" registering, buying or booking whatever!!! Yeppers I did good booking my Aeroplan flight and FlixBus from Toronto to London no problem, nervous as hell though. Then feeling relieved, I tried booking my ParknFly.ca with a corporate coupon I was gifted and totally screwed up. I've emailed for help and hope that comes tomorrow!!!

Dec 25th-26th

Dec 25th

Some of my favourites today! Oakwood Cafe borscht, garlic sausage, my apple Crown Royal cocktail and a couple of white chocolate cookies. Yummy!!!

Later on I'll snack on shrimp and cocktail sauce! CHEERS!!!

Bubba loves to cuddle and Dahli has to join in even if I'm covered in dog hair!!!

Yeah the puzzle is finished! Before I leave I'll undo it to close to when I started so Taunya can enjoy the setting like I did!

Dec 26th

So today I ventured out to Sylvia's for a bit of baking for a family gathering. In between while trays baked we took apart the eagle puzzle and started sorting pieces for another puzzle.

So she had prepped the dough earlier and when I arrived we started making the Scuffles - what I've always known as Chrustyky in Ukrainian, cinnamon rollups. This is my sister Elsie's recipe contribution to a local fundraiser cookbook from back home. Scrumptious!

Kneeding before rolling out.

About a 9" circle before cutting pie wedges.

She got me doing thee rollups.

The first pans ready for the oven.

And now cooling off.

The lot we made up.

Sylvia's new wall hanging, cross stitched and quilted.

Then home and dropping off Edna's treats too!

My apartment door's hangers!!!

Dec 23rd-24th

Dec 23rd

Right on!!!

Lovely!!!

I really wanted to share this picture but still wanted to give credit where credit is due!

Thank you Margreet for posting this lovely display! Nifty use of carefully skinned Mandarin oranges for creativity!!!

I'm really really really grateful for my "artsy" sister! AND very proud of her many talents!

See some time ago (this was originally blogged Sept 18, 2008) she made a couple Eagle wall hangings that she had cut up from a horizontal panel and made it vertical and used a smaller eagle from a pillow square - just lovely. WELL the next one she used the same panel with it's large eagle, again changing to a vertical and added in more water, trees, clouds and another smaller eagle.

I was crying scared 😱 witless that it was going to be ruined!!!  She totally flabbergasted me with the end result!

Now WHAT!!!

And the two hangers, the second on the right with a different eagle!

This is Sylvia's hanger with a medium sized eagle and the corner accessories!!!

So last week she pulled out a gifted puzzle and started on it, this time I only got over for two short setting sessions before she finished it off! Then she realized it was by the same artist that made the eagle panels and pillow covers she had used. Well I just had to show both of these off!

A gifted puzzle just completed.

Look they are both by the same artist!!!!!

Dec 24th - Christmas Eve

I've always loved this message so sending it again!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my family and friends!!!

I'm staying put, relaxing with the pets and setting Taunya's puzzle. I should have taken pictures of her progress before working on it a bit. This way I'll know what to dismantle so she can work on it again! I even sorted the various pieces into groups. But it would be easier with a white tablecloth, even though I'd hate to cover such a lovely table!!!

My different Christmas Eve dinner! Yummy!

Catchup - April 22nd-25th

 April 22nd

Well I was achy after errands with Sylvia and Edna, but happy to see Jacqui and Nester while at St. Vital Mall book sale.  So I cut it short and went home to relax before sewing.

Yeah I've finished the top of my mini Trippy Triangles wall hanging!  Just ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ it!!!  I'm thinking of doing a facing instead of binding it.  Will tackle that tomorrow!   10 1/4 x 16"

April 23rd

WOW WOW WOW!!!   I finally get to see them.  These were about 11pm at Birds Hill in eastern sky.

These were taken after midnight to about 1:30am.

This was the best display, wider and taller, and totally ruined by this jerk!!!

Well most vehicles have left so may as well call it a night too.  It was lovely except for a few shits!!!

April 24th

Dang forgot to post yesterday's first walk in ages with Edna!  It was lovely with sun and less wind in this tree lined development towards the west end of the park.  Talk about "houses"!

WOW!!!  Maybe a road trip to Brandon quilt shops too?

I hope to be going!

Today was iffy but I did my exercises and decided to go for an easy walk with Edna to the Forks for lunch!  Well out to walk back and I remembered my walking stick made by Len from Arizona that Sylvia gave to me back at the table.  Edna didn't know I could run, told her that was slower than my baseball playing days!  But it was still there Thank God!!!  Then walked back home with lots of stops to stretch out sore hip!

Then off to Sylvia's for a short walk with her too, with me the slowest one!!!  She has her NEWEST door hanger up, I ❤️❤️❤️ it!

After this I took Edna down Portage Ave with our first stop at Sargent Sundae for our first treat there for the year.

Then off to SuperStore for a bit of shopping before crashing at home.  So today I got in my steps but kinda aching!  Relaxing tomorrow!

Hope I can stay up for the JETS game tonight!!
