Catchup - June 18th-24th

June 18th

Look at this stupid nail on the thumb I got caught under the sewing needle screw months ago!  I cried from the pain!  It's finally grown out to the edge from before the cuticle where it was caught/damaged.  Hopefully now I'll keep my fingers out of there when removing pins in future.  Hope that hump grows out too and a normal nail forms again!

OMGG so much for enjoying the deck and protection from the sun! This happened in the last hour or two as it was good before lunch when I let the dogs out! I'm hopeless when it comes to ladders! Also I swear I'm a jinx!

It's 8:50pm and Wheels walks into the room plunks down and all three look at me spooking me out! By the time I grabbed the camera their interests changed! I'd sure like to know what they were thinking at that same moment???

June 19th

Talk about a similar taste in patio decor?Remember our walk Janice, Monika and Carolyn Aug 28, 2020?

Not fortunate to get all of us on the couch this time. Sam is not interested I guess! More keeping an eye on the neighbours!

They obliged after a treat!

At the RRX at the Quilts display with Lucy my hexies cohort! Beautiful display and congratulations to the ribbon winners!!!

Update: just letting you know I'm OK and whatever incident happened at the Ex was before my being in that area exiting for home.

So this is what happened just before I was leaving the park 7:30ish. Glad I stopped to enjoy my mini donuts or I'd been walking through there closer to the occurrence.

June 21st

Ohhhh it's been TWO YEARS since I met the little one who's turned into a slightly bigger "shit" who wants to be the boss!!!!! Hope you both stay upright while out relaxing!

So danged cute!!!

June 24th

I call it quits for tonight! I'm pooped plus achy too!

So from a thrift store find, Quilter's World, May 2015 magazine, I decided I wanted to make the scrappy hearts border found in Charming Butterflies by Holly Daniels on my second scrappy rail fence quilt top. BUT I totally did not want to play with HSTs at all. So I sewed 2.5" squares and 2.5x4.5" rectangles instead! Then I just trimmed to 1/4" seam allowance size. LOTS EASIER on me and I'll have mini cream triangles as leaders/enders to sew to other varied printed trimmings. If not me, then Adeline sure will get lots for her hand stitched projects!

My sketched out plan similar to the pattern.

My pieces

Using my trusty seam presser until I've a few for the iron pressing.

All pressed and left is trimmed to size.

My rail fence quilt plan.  Darker cream 1" inner borders on each side of hearts - or maybe not - will see after hearts are sewn on.

Catchup - May 19th-22nd

May 19th

OMGG!!!  This came up from a memory from 5 years ago!  You know this was a style that I just couldn't replicate after Adele's magic that day!  I loved it but my version stunk!!!

May 20th

Hmmmm not bad on today's try! I spray gel on damp hair, roll brushed in place to dry. Then picked and VOILA!!! Pretty close to Adele's pampering!

Yeah I've completed my first wheelchair quilt with hand warming pocket from fabric donated by Joan T! I made a mistake, determined to save it with Steam a Seam 2 and managed to do so, now to see how it is after washing! Because I cut down a panel and improvised for the length it's slightly larger at 28.7x36.75" than the suggested size of 27x36". I hope it's still acceptable. Teddy is showing you the pocket!

Fabric panel cut up.

Top assembled awaiting quilting.

Completed wheelchair quilt.   28.75 x 36.75"

Cozy flannel backed.

Look at Sylvia's newest apartment door hanger, it's out there now! I mentioned to her that hopefully it'll bring some summer warmth sooner than later!

May 21st

Here's a gorgeous picture of blue jeans recycled taken by my friend Margreet in Almere, Netherlands at the Floraide International Horticulture Exhibition 2022. I think at the Japanese Pavilion. Thank you for sharing your day and letting me repost this image I'm so impressed with!

Totally different from my future recycled jeans quilts for the car!

May 22nd

UPDATE: I bought a blue reversible one today. It's washed and drying, ready for the cording and future walks!

I've lost my green circled brimmed walking hat! 😒 I know I just recently had it but where ohhh where did I leave it behind? Hmmmm all the selfie walking pictures I have taken and none of my hat except this one at A&W out King Edward after walking Brookside Cemetery! Guess I have to get another one!

YEAH my new selfie stick is a Bluetooth and it works! The girls better get their smiles ready, I'm fully loaded for group pics on our outings!!!

Oct 1st n 2nd

Oct 1st

Good morning from a balmy sunny Mississauga morning!  I could not resist breaky on the deck with the birds!  Ohhhhh and no bugs!!!!!

Lunch out with Jean at the Symposium Restaurantand Bar in Mississauga!  And a walk around Streetsville.

And I got back to Yvonne's just in time as the heaven's opened up!

WHOASA!!!!!  I'm spoilt rotten with this chauffeuring me around, predinner, dinner and after dinner drinks plus meals prepared for me!!!! 🤗💞😘

Oct 2nd

Janice Potvin invited me to the Etobicoke Quilter's Guild stitching day here and I've volunteered to sew on binding.  This morning Yvonne drove me to meet up with Janice to go to Etobicoke and here's an awesome view of the Marilyn Monroe towers of Mississauga. More pictures to follow.

There meetings are held at the Neilson Park Creative Centre.  This guild has a display on right now with viewers choice - it was hard for me to choose one and many were wonderful pieces.

Some show n tell from the stitching day there and a final shot of Mississauga from the other direction.

We again relaxed the evening!
