A big Day

It was a big day for me last Sunday, I turned 80.  It's hard to believe and I'm so lucky that when I wake up each morning I can get up have a shower, walk, talk and do my house work and have my best friend with me, my husband.  I'm truly blessed.

My husband and I went out to celebrate and got home at 1.15am in the morning!  Family and a few friends came out with us to celebrate at The Levee near the Tamar River in the city.  One of our sons took the photos with the phone, all the ones he took when I was cutting the cake, he forgot to leave my head in the photo..lol  Anyway, this is what he took.

The cake was made by my husband's niece and is a fruit cake.  The flowers from my two sister in laws and one husband.

Not every one would look at the camera.  Three of the 5 grandchildren are there if you can find them.

The above photo the lady on the right has been a friend for 61 years, and the man a friend of my husband's 69 years and a friend of mine for 61 years.  The lady's husband is in a nursing home as he has Alzheimer's and a friend for 60 years to both my husband and myself.

A cousin of mine who lives in Hobart down south of the Island has been my friend for 80 years.  Yes, as old as I am, she is 85 and when I was only a few months old my parents and I lived at her house and we have been friends ever since.  My cousin and her husband still come to stay at our place usually once a year. When their children were young they all came and stayed along with her parents my late Auntie and Uncle.

Birthdays

We have at the moment a couple of the grandchildren staying with us.....till Monday night (tonight) :) They came mid week.  Having heaps of fun with Miss 7 and Miss 8.

A 'thing' I did when Netfix arrived in Australia was to join and it's one of the best things I have done.  Not being a good movie person I now find them interesting, and have been watching several movies.
Our internet service provider has given many Australians 'free' data.  We were given 300GB free making in total 500GB each month, and if we were to go over the limit the speed is slowed down.  So far no problems with Netflix streaming, hope this continues.

As I mentioned a few posts back it was two of our grandchildren's birthdays..

Miss 6 turned 7, and Miss 2 turned 3.

Miss 3's birthday cake, heavily iced and a lovely mud-cake.  (a type of chocolate cake)

Birthdays

27 and 29th of April our two sons have a birthday, to them it's one of the most important days of their year! So on the April 27, we have two sons the same age for 2 days.

For the first born I spent 4 weeks in hospital, then the remainder of my pregnancy at home in bed which totaled 8 months being only permitted bathroom privileges.
My husband worked every second weekend, he learned to cook, do all the cleaning and washing.
My late mother lived in another city, she made me a fruit cake once a month, mum and dad came to help the same weekend.

So what did I do all those months in bed?
I read, did jigsaw puzzles, crocheted, visitors were always popping in for a chat, watched TV in the evenings, and slept a lot.

The last month of the first pregnancy I was permitted up for 1 hour each week increasing to everyday by the time I went to hospital to have our first baby.
Second baby all was well and I didn't have to go to bed.
Now my babies are grown men with little ones of their own :)

Happy Birthday my sons!

Dad's Birthday with GGrandchildren!

My dad's 90th Birthday went very well.  The family from Queensland arrived plus many guests during the afternoon and late afternoon.  My husband and I arrived home to our city about 10pm with the family waiting for us.
We both enjoyed their stay, and had our other son, his wife and child for dinner last night, it's the first time that we have been able to get together all in the same place for over 5 years. Plus two of the children were not born or even thought of.

The first photo is of dad and his 4 great grandchildren.  The little boy he has never meet until that day.
He is also the little boy now 2 years of age that I delivered on the side of the road in Queensland, the mum being one of my daughter in laws :)
The child on the left is aged 7, the one in front is aged 22 months and is their cousin, the child on the right is aged 5 and sister to the 7 year old and the boy.

The below photo is the Mayor of the city where dad lives, plus dad used to be a Deputy Mayor for several years, and before that on the Council.

This photo will appear in the Newspaper.

Last Saturday!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at our grand niece's 3rd birthday party down by the river at a place called Tail Race Park in Trevallyn, Tasmania, Australia.
There are barbecues, big trees, seating and a great walking path into the city of Launceston.
The playground was used a lot by the little ones.
Was wonderful to catch up with many of our grand nieces and their parents.  We get to know them and they get to know us.

An exciting time!

Saturday the fun begins.
A childs 3rd birthday party in the morning time till after lunch.
Then to the Supermarket to buy some groceries so I can cook, plus of course meat to make some Rissoles.
Also have to make a Jelly Slice, a Fruit Cake and ice it Sunday, make various biscuits.
On Sunday and Monday more cooking plus cleaning the house.
You see our youngest son, his wife and their 3 small children are flying home to stay with us for 4 days.  It's the first time they have been home since 2008.  They live in the State of Queensland many km/miles away, arriving Monday afternoon at the Launceston Airport.
My husband and I have to take two cars to the Airport because they won't fit in one vehicle with just one of us driving.  Seat belts have to be worn and with 6 people and only 5 seats so therefore 5 seat belts.

But of course there is more.
On Tuesday my dad will turn 90, so more cooking for the party I am giving him at his house just over 100km's away.  So I think I will be rather busy for a few days, but I will love every minute of it.

A house with lots of noise here, and at my dads when the guests begin to arrive.

Restaurant, Dynasty Chinese

We all had a lovely evening meal for my birthday at the Dynasty Chinese Restaurant, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.  Wonderful meal, always I choose this Restaurant for such occasions.

Took a few photos of the interior which is beautiful, the photos are not the best that is due to the point & shoot camera I was using, plus it was 'darkish' inside, a bit like candlelight.

Front door & Recption is where arch is.

Part of the ceiling.

Where we Dine it's not always acceptable to take photos of the interior or food. This is why I hardly ever post photos of such.

Zygocactus & Birthday

It is my birthday today, but who's counting!  I am, backwards :)
My husbands family plus a few close friends including eldest son and his wife and me of course are going to a Chinese restaurant in the city for dinner this evening. Last year was the first time I have ever been out to dinner for my birthday.
My father used speed dial to phone me this morning and began singing Happy Birthday from start to finish :) not bad for an 89 year old, and he didn't miss a beat. When I was there this past week, he asked me how much money I wanted for my birthday, he always says that :)
Youngest son also phoned this morning from Queensland, it was good he remembered. I was lucky enough to have his little children (the girls 6 & 5 years of age, the youngest is 16 months and a boy) wish their Nan birthday greeting and have a chat along with his wife. Eldest son also phoned this morning, his daughter is nearly 14 months old.

Also today I took a few photos of my Zygocactus or Christmas cactus.  These plants came from dad's house and it's their second year.  I took cuttings a few years after mum passed away and very happy with the results.
