At home.

The front yard/garden has been stripped of it's lawn with instant lawn going down later this week, fingers crossed.
The day the deed was done I looked after 5 grandchildren had 3 to sleep from Saturday to Sunday (usual ever second weekend) feed them all and 4 adults for lunch on the Saturday.  I cooked from 11.30am till 2pm, but had a ball.

The photo below is of the second youngest grandchild and she is 6 years old.

The lawn/grass is gone, now wait for instant lawn.

First one out for the season.

At home

A change from the holiday so a post from home.
We had a wonderful time with 3 of the grandchildren who lived on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland for 6 years, returning to Launceston in 2014 mid winter and the 5 of them lived with us for several months until they were able to get their own home.
On Sunday they all came for a barbecue dinner but the children arrived at 1.30pm and their parents went for a long walk up the Gorge, not far from the city.
Being a hot day we turned the sprinkler on for the children, before that the helicopter and bucket took off near home to help fight the fires.
I grabbed my old DSLR Canon Camera and put the appropriate lens on to shoot this shot.

Photo taken January 19 from a street near by.  All of Launceston and surrounding areas for miles/km is like this as the smoke from some 30 fires burning on the north of the Island.

The weekend.
The weeds had been sprayed two days prior.
Miss 9, and Mister 3 - soon to be 4.  He's the grandson I delivered on the side of a busy Highway on the Sunshine Coast.

Miss 8.  The lawn is now dry as most are at this time of year.

All children like to have a bit of fun - so Poppy ended up with Miss 9's sunglasses.

Birthdays

We have at the moment a couple of the grandchildren staying with us.....till Monday night (tonight) :) They came mid week.  Having heaps of fun with Miss 7 and Miss 8.

A 'thing' I did when Netfix arrived in Australia was to join and it's one of the best things I have done.  Not being a good movie person I now find them interesting, and have been watching several movies.
Our internet service provider has given many Australians 'free' data.  We were given 300GB free making in total 500GB each month, and if we were to go over the limit the speed is slowed down.  So far no problems with Netflix streaming, hope this continues.

As I mentioned a few posts back it was two of our grandchildren's birthdays..

Miss 6 turned 7, and Miss 2 turned 3.

Miss 3's birthday cake, heavily iced and a lovely mud-cake.  (a type of chocolate cake)

The Girls

Miss 8 and Miss 6 go to swimming lessons each week early in the evening.  The pool is just down the road, about 5 minutes from home and their school.
Sometimes my husband and I take them which is great for us for when they lived in Queensland we missed out on attending their activities.
Also I am teaching Miss 8 a bit of Ballet, just a few basics.
Interesting, for I have danced on the oldest stage in Tasmania, being a Signet in Swan Lake when I was very young.

Photos taken with my phone and the last two are zoomed in.

The Smile!

Our second youngest grandchild has just turned 3.  He is the little boy I delivered on the side of the Highway on the Sunshine Coast just over 3 years ago.  They all now live in the same city as we do.
We took him for a ride in the vehicle the other day, put a DVD on for him to watch as he sat in the seat.  So he says, 'Thank you Nanny'.  Such lovely manners. The smile on this face says it all.

Trip to the City Park. Launceston.

When the grandchildren stayed for the night we took them on separate days to the Launceston City Park.  It always looks different, and is a pleasure to walk in.

All these photos were taken with my phone it saved me taking either of my cameras.

The visitors!

We have had two grandchildren staying with us for a few day, Miss 8 and Miss 6...they bought their dolls and I bought them one each, so many hours was spent playing with the dolls.

I asked myself, how do you play with dolls, exactly what do you do?
Watching the two girls, imagination is the key!

Hands, part arms, clothes, shoes, dresses, earrings, necklaces all get pulled or taken off.  The hair, well that's another issue - it was, 'Nan or Nanny, would you like to play'?  Method in this was, 'can you do the hair please, Nan'? Of course I just loved this, so out came the brush, the hairbands and my fingers were working making ponytails, plaits and so on.
Then the three of us 'played dolls', pretending to be dolls we talked differently, asked questions with the imagination running riot, it was enjoyed with great laughter and many smiles, and lots of hugs.

Grandchildren and new Phone.

Took a photo of the baby born last week to our eldest son and his wife.
Here he is with his 2 year old sister.
Photo was taken with my old Samsung Galaxy 3 which I have had for just over 2 years. This week I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, a white one which I love.  I must say the camera is rather good, much improvement and I can see it won't be long and I won't take a small camera with me at all, instead using the phone instead.
The phone came with 25GB of data to use in one month, so this morning I watched a movie on it called, 'Love Comes Softly' Directed by Michael Landon JR.

Birthday Girl! Wedding Anniversary!

Today is youngest grandchild's 2nd birthday. The photo I took about 2 weeks ago. It's different and I only took it off my camera this week and just had to post it..
There is a late morning party at Tail Race Park Saturday norning, there will be a barbecue lunch. I have been elected to make Rissoles/Hamburgers plus a Potato Salad.

Then today the 4th April is my eldest sister in law's 50th Wedding Anniversary, and on Saturday evening her children, their husbands and her grandchildren, my husband and myself along with my youngest sister in law are all going out to celebrate.  Way back when they were married, my husband was Bestman, and I was invited to the wedding even though I had not long been going out with my future husband at that time.
Taken at Ella's house.

Swimming lesson

Our youngest grandchild will be two in April, and we were lucky enough to see her at the local swimming pool where she has lessons each week.

She is getting used to me taking her photo, so hence with my phone she stayed still, then runs over to look at what I have taken.

I considered myself lucky to be able to take the photo as many places do not permit it.

Christmas, Dad & Ella

Like most of us we have been buying presents, going out and about at this time of year.  My legally blind dad (88) is staying at our house. This morning our eldest son bought his daughter Ella to see her Great Grandfather.  Ella is nearly 8 months old, has a bit of a cold no doubt due to her getting her first tooth soon.

The bracelet on Ella's arm is gold with a locket which has a little bluebird on it, a small teddy bear is on one of the links, her name is engraved on the plate and who from on the back...My dad's Christmas Gift to her.

Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Australia

Our two grandchildren, aged 5 & 3 using my iPad.

The 3 year old wanted me to take her helmut off, so hence the look on her face.

Things often can go wrong when you are on holidays. My hair dryer died, the GPS died then half came back to life. Now we each have the same virus, so we are keeing to ourselves for a few days. They say things come in threes!
